That's a beautiful bass indeed! I'll be in London next year in April. If it's still for sale by then, I'll come by and have a look at it...
You'll "come by and look at it". Look at it? Is that it? You won't play it and buy it? Just *look*. I bet Gary can't bear the anticipation. -

I'm learning to read bass clef, recommend a book to me
Grangur replied to datainadequate's topic in Books & DVDs
If you can put up with not having a binding on the pages, as a start, feel free to download and practice on some of the pieces here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215336-learning-to-read-the-dots-sheet-music-to-learn-with/page__fromsearch__1 -

Have you told the police? Surely selling it is dealing in stolen goods?

That's interesting, especially to hear about it sucking tone. I've got a B3 and there's been times I think it takes volume, or the tone isn't all it could be. I know Victor Wooten uses a B3 in his live set up, mainly as a looper, but I do wonder how easy it would be, in a gig situation, to be scrolling through effects on stage to find the right one for the next number. You didn't say if the B1 has a USB connection for connecting to a PC for recording. The B3 does this. So, over all I think they're a great piece of kit but probably more suited to home/small gig use. Thanks for posting
Dont know why these are so hard to sell? it took me ages to sell mine and they are pretty good basses
Thanks Thunderbird. This is a really well-built bass. A lot better than some Fenders I've had the misfortune to own. Loads more punch too. If it doesn't go I'll keep it. It just doesn't meet my current needs.

I can understand: "1. Detach your self-worth from your abilities as a musician " This makes sense as if you make a total hash of playing a bassline, this doesn't make you a useless person, just one who needs more practise.

Scott's Bass Lessons Facebook Page.

With how much the SBL Academy has taken off I wouldn't be surprised if Scott doesn't actually do the Facebook page himself anyway -
Is that the guy with the gloves?
He plays with a single glove on the left hand. He has a skin problem caused by contact with the strings, I believe. -

Its good that you feel you're now getting somewhere. The problem you will have is learning in a group of people means that you will learn to do what your teacher wants ro teach, not what you want to learn. Plus if you challenge all the time he and others will get fed up. From what you say I suggest you enrol in Scottsbasslessons.com. Join the Academy and follow the beginner course an move on frm there. Its very effective and you can control wgat you want to do and the pace at which you do it.

I agree with Gary. If I were lending you an amp I'd say nice things like, "no rush, keep it as long as you need". But if you then bought a new bass it would sour things.
I'm now moving away from a combo and thinking that one of these and my headphones will do the job. They seem a cheap and practical solution. http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/b1on
Yes, that works too. Do let us know what you recon to it.

Going back to your OP. I think some guys think that to look groomed looks "gay". They're so intent on looking what they think is "manly" that they fail on other grounds.

This reminds me of a recent encounter I had.. I ditched my last band, partly for musical reasons and partly for reasons of image. They all didn't really cut it IMHO. I saw an ad from a drummer who was trying to get a band together. I responded and it seemed the drummer was a woman of mature years. No problem with this I arranged to meet up for a drink 'to discuss what we wanted to do' after all, no point in hiring a rehearsal studio if we have nowt in common. I arrived on the night. She was in her 70s. Dressed in jeans, tight t-shirt, flat shoes and an Alice-band on her head. She had long grey hair, ragged in length and bald on top. No teeth and wearing large hoop earrings. She was also clearly a guy. I have no problem with trans folk or any LGTB, but if I'm going to stand next to them on stage they need to be convincing and presentable. I'm still not in a band.

You're wearing t-shirts too. Some T-shirts do look good on some people. Some people don't know this. Some people don't know recognise that they should never wear T-shirts. The thing is many folk are not t-shirt shaped.

Does your Zoom act as a headphone amp? I know my Zoom B3 does.

Here's just the answer. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/250101-roland-bass-cube-30/page__fromsearch__1 Sorted.

Amplugs are good, and as a guy who regularly travels and practices in hotel rooms I wouldn't be without mine, but the sound quality is never as good as a small combo would be. The choice is really down to how often you're likely to use it and if you can spare the bulk when travelling. Today I'm driving to the wilds of Bristol and will be packing my Tascam GB10 - another headset unit, but that allows me to record myself over backing tracks and slow tracks down and change pitch on play-backs so I can transcribe.. all horses for courses.
Totally different, we have a capital T at the end. I'm sure they are not losing sleep, about a covers band in blighty playing in the pubs and clubs of sticksville Hertfordshire. I've yet to encounter anyone at our gigs, crying in to their beer because they were expecting to see the American Defunkt.
I was. I was totally distraught. My life will never be the same again. Can we settle out of court? A vintage Fender would about cover it.
-
That sounds like writing a pre - nuptial. The only difference is that with a band you know that it will split up sometime.
By the way Blue, I find your stated refusal to participate in band funds perplexing. The bands I'm with don't have a fund, but there is a small float (mostly gig money from awkward payment splits kept aside for band emergencies). But if there is a band fund, with an agreed purpose, with a realistic timescale - demo costs, PA upkeep, for instance - what's wrong with that?
Interesting one: I don't want to join a band and be hit with a bill to cover a repair on the PA, on day 1, for wear and tear from the last 10 years use. Isn't it better to simply agree that the owner of the PA (as there is inevitably a single owner; the guy who would keep it in the event that the band splits) should charge an agreed "rent" for the gear for each show.
