That looks a bargain. You're right though; they should be arrested for that pick guard

BTW...

If the PG is symmetrical top to bottom (like a MM PG) there's a remote chance it might work, but there's a high chance it won't. Also the PG probably has a bevelled/chamfered edge to stop it being catchy on the upper side; this would be on the wrong side if you turn it over. I recon you should budget on having to get a new PG made. Also, the routing of the body will be wrong. Do you want to remove that much wood? There's a good few makers about if you Google for them.
I recently bought a cheap Westfield P bass and swapped the bridge for a Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles. Mainly did it for the looks (black bridge now on a black bass) but I do feel it has made a minor difference to the sound and for £12 I'm happy with that. I like having a badass ii on my MIM Jazz but don't know if I'd do that to a USA Jazz in case it lowered the value
You can always change it and keep the original one to swap back when you come to sell it. That's what a lot of other folk do.

I've got a Hipshot high mass bridge that has been on a couple of p basses. Its a great piece of engineering. String spacing adjustable etc. I don't think it makes a lot of difference. What I do like is being able to unhook the strings for maintenance without having to work them through the bridge. However, the plastic just-a-nut on my Warwick Corvette had been damaged so I replaced it with a brass Just-a-nut 3 and that made the tone more growly and punchy. So much so that I bought 2 more brass nuts for my other 2 Warwicks.
Steve bought a pickup off me, but what I enjoyed most was the emails we exchanged chatting about...you guessed it...basses! It's clear that he's a top man and a very genuine guy who's also well experienced and knowledgeable. Thanks Steve!
+1 Steve's a good, genuine guy. He even told me when the pickup had arrived. Many thanks Steve. I'd be happy to deal with Steve again any time.

I'm just playing about with my Warwick Corvette (2004). I have the same "problem" on active when I boost the treble. I too have been trying to prod around with an earth-wire connection and nothing I touch with the earth makes any difference. Comparing this to the Streamer Stage 1 (2005), there's no hiss on the Streamer. The Streamer does, however, have a very different pre-amp. There's a lot more electronics in the Streamer. So maybe that's what you get for a few more £.

Squier Affinity P-bass vs Fender custom shop Pino Palladino P-bass
Grangur replied to jazzpunkrock's topic in Bass Guitars
... Bet the Pino feels much nicer to play though, I've been considering a P recently but all the Squires I've had a go on have left me feeling cold - fit & finish has been awful.
All the Squiers I've played have had rough frets. I know it can be fixed in theory, but my Gear4Music was better finished than the Squier. The body shaping on the Squier is better though than the G4Music. -

This has now SOLD 75 Fender P Bass and original case.
So £1800 for a pristine, stock original 1975 sunburst P with maple neck and black pickguard?? Am I missing something or is this a bargain? The early sunbursts are just fantastic. So much red in there compared with modern versions.
Hey Mark, I've got a can of Dulux gloss white if you're interested in adding this to the Discreet collection? -
I agree with the above, all of it. OK, now to change slightly. The other advice I'd give, as I'm still going through the earlier stages too, is keep a Practise Log. In the log set out what you plan to do over the week and use that as an agenda. Plan today what you'll do tomorrow, do it and log what you did and how well/badly you did. Put down also what speed the metronome was set at, that way you'll also see how you get faster. (Not that speed is the target, but it shows agility) I've done this and it does give you focus and you do get progress faster.

I normally just carve a large cardboard box, add loads of bubbly-wrap stuff and bend it as needed to get it into the post box. OK, maybe not the last bit. -

LOL... I liked No1 more. So, that's it then; I'm a cheap tart! Love it. Many thanks -
Would you be interested in a trade, I've got a G&L Tribute L2000 but just can't get on with the precision type neck, had it from new and only took it out once?
Many thanks for the interest, but I've already got a new bass to replace this one. Ao I'm not looking for a trade thank you.

Jon Leiberman's book of Bass Blues is also very good.
Sheesh! I got more votes for my duck picture than I did for my music!!
LOL. Your music was good, but this month was tough.
GAS can be a cruel mistress. To be honest, longer term at least, what I'm really gassing for is a six string jazz style bass which is what got me thinking about Fender style basses in the first place. A budget P bass was really just a way to keep the GAS at bay while I save for a Bass Mods K6 which is why I was looking at the affinity range as I don't want it to put too big a dent in the savings for the jazz. Unfortunately I now actually want both basses so maybe the VM or CV would be a better option longer term. Once again I find myself questioning how much I really need both my kidneys and how much I could get for one of them!
It sounds to me like you should play the bass first. Thinking of the old thing of "it's in the fingers". You should make sure that "Painy factor" works with the bass. It's not simply a matter of price.
