Having come back to playing after a very long break, I noticed that I was getting buzz on the E & B strings (5 string) and the issue was the larger diameter and mass of the strings required more accuracy from me in terms of finger tip position and pressure when fretting and not plucking too hard to get the notes to play cleanly whereas I could get away with being a bit sloppy on the A,D,G. Maybe it would be a good idea to find a good teacher or experienced BCer who can look at both your setup and playing technique in person, and help identify the issues and offer some solutions.
Agreed; find a local, experienced BCer. If memory serves, Twincam isn't flushed with resources right now so a fellow BCer would be great. You could also go try a bass in a shop and see if the basses there all appear to have the same problem. Then you'd know its your playing.
I see plenty of Overwaters in the music shops around where i live.
I wish I did. Id like to try one. I get bored of the usual aray of Fender. Yamaha and Ibanez
Yamaha everyday of the week for me! Yamaha's should be a lot more expensive than they are in my opinion. I rarely see an Overwater in music shops which means they don't sell - which there'll be reason for.
.. or that they have more money and a bigger name to get the distribution set up right.

I've got a load of card and bubble-wrap packing stuff suitable for posting a bass. Does anyone going to this bash want any?

Barrie at Bass Gear tells me they have pulled out. That's a shame. Will there be any other retailer there? I want to buy some strings and I'd buy them on the day if I can support the folk there it would be good.
Does MuseScore allow the scanning in of sheet music to then be edited, like Sibelius does?
No, Musescore wont do that. But knowing the scanning market, as I used to work in scanning software, I doubt you'll get that anywhere for free.

They forgot to ask for sight reading too!

Got mine for London too.
Go mine for London. I checked with him and its his band (the posters seemed a bit vague as to whether it was solo or not) Si
Yes, it's the Wooton Brothers.. All good with me

You're not wrong. I ended up buying some no name ones from Gig Gear; my local retailer. They were fine for the job at £15.

At least it's being sold honestly. If it had had a right handed neck and a more realistic logo would the owner have been so honest? It would certainly be tempting to try your luck to get more for it.
Mmm. Was it advertised as a UK tour or English tour ? Northern Ireland gets very little in terms of this sort of thing. What else is he doing ?
Its simply a "Tour". You can see the dates here if you expand the "See all dates" link. http://victorwooten.com/blog/?cat=15 The next day after London he's in Malaga.
Sorry...just being juvenile
Taken that way. No offence taken. I'm sure none was ever intended.

If you have a laptop, can you use that to plug into the sound i/put on the tv? You can then use iTunes or whatever other package to play the CDs etc

<tryingtobehelpfulpost>Please can I suggest a course of things to do to start? 1 - Tell us if the visible crack is apparently just a crack or can the top section actually be removed. 2 - Remove the headstock tuners 3 - Take and post some clearer pics so we can see what's going on. If you take a fresh, critical look at the pics you've posted, you'll see we can't really see clearly what's happening. Maybe a sideways view would be a good idea?</tryingtobehelpfulpost> Good luck Edit: Is, Is that a crack through the truss rod cover? If so, please can you remove that cover too? and take more pics
Could you not just make a template yourself...? Also once you have the main hole then you could use the prong itself to mark the small hole for it.
Then you could drill the hole using a small bit. Games workshop sell small drill bits and small drills, if you need one.

With Mrs G with me on the day? I don't think so. I'm a happily married man, don't you know! Ask Mrs G, she'll tell you. (Married to a Warwick Streamer)
Happy to bring the Corvette if you and/or anyone else is interested - it's a lefty, though, remember
Doh! Of course. I'm left handed too, but I don't think I can play left handed, but it'd be a laugh to try. The important thing is getting to get to hear it in the flesh, so I'd still love to see it and meet you, of course.

As there's the Encore in there as the nominal cheepie, I can offer a Warwick PJ Streamer as an alternative to the Gear4Music if you'd prefer. It can be played passive with the P-pup only? It sounds loads better than the G4M.

I'm planning on coming btw. Very interested to take a look at your Corvette Bluejay, if you bring it. I'm bringing a Gear4Music P for the P test and I can bring a Wishbass if anyone's interested, or a Streamer PJ; fretted of fretless? Anyone interested?
