1.
I know The Lord Haig, I've been there a few times, if I can get over I will certainly say hello thats for sure.
Defunkt are good. I've seen Gary play. He gets by ok too Mrs G and I could well take a look over at the Haig this w/end too. So maybe We'll see you there.

3.
You don't have to subscribe to it just to see it...only if you're using a phone/tablet. Unfortunately, because BC's upload limits are so small we HAVE TO use file sharing sites like Flickr. The pictures are perfectly viewable via in browser format...view using your laptop, you shouldn't have a problem. The thing is, a hell of a lot of people now use Flickr as a file upload/share site so I think it would be wise to 'give them all your details' (it's just name and a password, it's really childs play to be honest, my 6 and a half year old nephew uses it)... Either that or a simple "could you perhaps email me the pics as I'm interested in your bass but I, also, seem to not be able to use Flickr on my phone" might have been a more positive communication...and would have halted the grave and terrible loss I am now suffering. Thanks for the bump at least!
I looked again on my laptop. Nice pics, beauty of a bass!! Wow I wish i had 1200 floating about right now. Regrettably a plumber is getting all my hard-earned right now.
4.
....One is a Dingwall Combustion, entry level bass and the other is an Ibanez SR4005 prestige level bass....
Excuse my ignorance, but isn't this like saying "entry level Ferrari or a prestige level Ford"? Not that there's anything wrong with Ibanez. They're great basses and provide fantastic instruments at all levels (IMHO). In any case, assuming they both look equally equally easy on the eye, my choice would be to try playing both. I may find I can't get to grips with Dingwalls fret layout. Find what gives the best tone, ease of action etc. I think also at this level I'd be inclined to take a small allen key and make any small adjustments to the set-up too, whilst trying. If I'm looking to pay £1000 I don't expect to have to imagine what the action would be like if it were right for me.
5. I bought a Badass bridge from Nick. He was great to deal with. He even delayed posting, timing it to arrive on the day I got back from hols. The bridge was just as described Many thanks Nick
6.
Leicester. I work in education myself, so I think I'm reasonably prepared to take sufficient notes etc in order to make sure I have what I need to revise/remember material.
search in the "Tutors Available" section for "Leicester". I'm envious of you over the number of tutors available.
7. It could be interesting to put a meter on the pot and see what that says is happening. I know in this case you say it's wired right, but I've seen a good few with the cap in the wrong place.
8. Its looking great. The colour is amazing too.
9. I too have been reading all the ads dor gear. Buying basses, selling them etc. I've now come to the conclusion that I've been subconsciously searching for some short cut to being a good player. It won't happen. I need to quit looking and start practising.
10. To see Flickr pictures you have to subscribe and install the app. I object to having to subscribe to a site, giving them all my details, just to see your bass. So I can't see it either. Your loss...
11.
Ok, it sanded out ok. Ready for next coat, no wind, fantastic, as soon as I've finished spraying the back move to the front, check to see if I've missed anywhere and...delightful, a gust of wind kindly covered the back. I'll let it dry and sand those out.
If the bits are only small, don't sand it. Instead rub it over with the BACK of the sandpaper. I'm not sure if, with the pearlescent paint it'll look the business, but it will make it easier. Maybe you should get a pro job on the paint.
12. I was actually thinking of a circuit in the bass. I saw this and thought it looks a good option: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk_Gvjlj9Bo
13.
Upgrading the Windows 8.1 fixes this issue.
... but clicking the "Compatibility view" button is slightly cheaper
14. Zakaz123 is pretty new here on BC and as it happened I needed a new set of flats, So I mailed him and discussed a few options. I've got the strings now. Fast delivery, great value. Nice guy to deal with. Thanks Zak
15. I've got the book and both CDs in perfect condition. I'll send out copy CDs to any folk who genuinely have the book. As there seem to be a few folk I would ask you for a contribution to cover the costs. PM me. Cheers Richard
16. I've had some really good one-off lessons. Each lesson keeps me on track and I go back again when I next need direction. My bro in law is a cello teacher. My Ma in law is a piano teacher. Both agree that with most students the real purpose of the lesson is to keep the kids practicing. If this isn't a problem with you, then I'd ask "what do you want regular lessons for? "
17. I don't know Lemon oil. Ao I just found it on the Gak site. I don't see why not. If the dirt is heavy and the wood "dry", and lacking in oil, I would suggest white sprit to wash off first, then finish with Lemon Oil. The thinking here is to not get dirty Lemon Oil soaked into the wood.
18. As nobody has mentioned it, I try to keep a diary of my practice. It helps show progress, especially if you put down the metronome bpm you can play riffs at if you're trying to get faster. WRT time per day. Id love to say it's a regular 2 hours, but with a job, mortgage etc, life isn't so easy to find the time every day. To all the young out there; use the time well. Its a luxury you won't always have.
19. Try spraying WD40 down the TR opening. That worked for me.
20. From a teacher I had one lessn with: "Keep your fretting hand at 90 degrees to the fret board and use one finger per fret, even down on frets 1-4 etc. If you can't get that from day 1 give up bass" I was 54 at the time and still trying to stretch my small hands and pulling tendons. I gave up the teacher.
21. There's some Seymour Duncan SDJ-1 pups for sale here right now. I'm on my mobile, otherwise I'd have posted a link.
22. Or use White Spirit. But don't forget to oil and wax it after. If it's a finished neck; lacquered, then just a aoapy damp cloth.
23. The original pups won't be so bad in a Fender. So rather than change those, how about a pre-amp?
24.
Any tips on how to get the small amounts of adhesive left on the neck from the masking tape off. Lemon Oil? Sanding?
White Spirit Woops. Beaten to it.
