  1. For all we know, if @skankdelvar 's socially-atomised numpties were real socially-atomised numpties they might even have been texting each other! Regrettably the world is changing and not for the better. Mrs G and I went to the cinema the other day and various folk talked through the film. I believe the comon view now is, "the band on stage are suppliers of a service. If I chose to talk through your performance that's my prerogative." After all, I might pay a decorator to paint a wall. If I chose to draw over that wall next day, it's my choice."
  2. For anyone know how to pronounce "Sei" ? I'm going to need to know one day.
  3. Thanks for mentioning @visog's bass. I missed that. Nice one too.
  4. This looks tempting for my 60th If only @bubinga5 wasn't so over-the-moon to get it back... It is a beaut.
  5. It's good to see some cool 3+2 headstocks. I know it's illogical but 4+1 looks, to me, like it's added as an afterthought; which it was of course.
  6. For my 50th I did get divorced from the Mrs who stopped me playing bass. Now I'm with the Mrs G who is absolutely awful at stopping me from buying too many basses. Man, it's costing me a fortune!
  7. I guess if you mod it and use a different pickguard, then you can always return it to the original state
  8. I wouldn't mod it to have a tone control. It's good as it is. With a tone its the same as all other P-basses
  9. There are lots if videos on YouTube showing how to change a nut. It looks like yours is easy to remove with a hammer and a block of wood. The harder part is getting the new one the right height and slots the right depth, but if you can level and dress frets, you'll be fine doing a nut.
  10. With a new plastic nut costing less than £10 it's not worth arguing. Parking outside a good solicitors will cost you more than that.
  11. In my house, it's "Warwick" as in "Warwickshire".
  12. You can be pretty sure that, at the time, they didn't know the spelling should be "Motörhead" or "Motoerhead". I'd also put money on the fact they NEVER pronounced it correctly.
  13. If "Squire" is pronounced sk-why-er Shouldn't "Squier" be pronounced Sk-wee-er ?
  14. Welcome to Basschat. GLWTS. I'm sure you'll find that adding pictures will help this sell. Also, some folk might like to know where you are and if you'd be prepared to post it.
  15. Met with Mat yesterday and bought a Warwick from him. He's a good guy to deal with, good communication and trustworthy. Many thanks, Mat
  16. A poor earth connection can result in a hum in the sound output. What's wrong here will be poor wiring, a weak jack socket, or a dodgy pot. Otherwise it could be something else that's causing some connection in the circuit to short the signal to earth.
  17. Strangely, I see Janek as another clickbait YouTuber. You can watch a fair while and all you get is his life and his pushing to get you to $ub$cribe.
  18. Most pictures of the band's in the 60s will be posed "publicity" shots. In those days film was slower. This ment shutter speeds would have been very slow in the dim light on stage, so blurred pictures. In the 70s I was taking pictures of stage acts and stage lighting may appear bright to our eyes, but compared to daylight it's dim. Flash photography was also difficult in the early days. I remember disposable flash bulbs! They were pathetic compared to today's flash guns. Good pictures here. It's great to see them.
  19. Sorry, @bazzbass, but no earth to the bridge won't cause it to cut out. We don't know how tidy this circuit wiring is, but a good, quick solution would be to buy a new harness from @KiOgon. That would almost certainly sort it.
  20. The thing folk do at this stage is edit the OP post and edit the title. This saves people opening the thread only to find it's gone. Many thanks

  22. Fender Squier Afinity bass CAR, in great condition. Comes with strap, hard-case and Fender swing tag! The bass has no "customary buckle rash", or real scrapes. There is one ding on the top horn and a couple of other small marks, but it's in great fettle. All set up and ready to play. The case has had a few scrapes, but comes with the keys and the inside is all good. This is located in Bishops Stortford, East Herts, although I'd be happy to ship it at cost.
  23. I've found I have have USA format dates in "MS Edge". Yet Chrome is displaying them in UK format. This has to be something to do with the browser. That said, I've looked at all my seetings in both Chrome and Edge and they are both set to display all dates as dd mm yyyy, but still BC displays quotes in Edge as mm dd yyyy. ... move on. Life's too short.
  24. Sold an amp to Rory. He's a good guy. Great comms and good to his word. Very happy to deal with him again. Thanks Rory
  25. When you're checking the wiring, look for any of these: 1. any pot terminals that are bent too close together. 2. Whiskers of wires floating about that might cause a short-circuit. 3. Shielded wires with cores - look for damage causing cables to cut out. The pic here is one I was working on last night. The previous owner couldn't find the fault. It was caused by the centre core being cut and was lying down, so he couldn't see that it wasn't connected. Yours might be similar, but with the cable just about touching, so it works sometime, but not others. 4. Also look for terminals that are shorting when they touch screening in the body, if you have it fitted.
