1. Hey, why not sell the bass FOC and charge 1500 for delivery? ..except some smart@ss would accept, then say he'll collect
2. I can't see the pics. The link URLs are incomplete
3.
Hi Ive only just got into Warwick but the GAS hit me hard so here is my collection a 91 SSI, 97 SSII and a 97 Streamer Pro M fantastic basses although I dont play fretless so thinking of getting her fretted (unless someone has a fretted SSI in same condition they would like to swap?)
You mean like this: I'd love to try your fretless, but love my SS1 too much
4. Thanks for the info and correcting me Ed
5. +1 for www.studybass.com
6. First picked up a bass in/around 1978. After 2 years I gave up, but kept the bass. Went back to it 3yrs ago and still not gigged yet. I went to a gig in a local pub on this last Saturday and was amazed how useless the bass player was; very poor fretting, single finger plucking etc... I'd thought I wasn't up to it yet!! So now looking out for a band of equally minded mediocrity.
7. It sounds to me like you may be taking on too many different scales all at the same time. It will come. You will get there. If I were you I'd chill and learn some easy 12-bar Blues and other simple tunes and riffs. You need to get some enjoyment on the scene. If you don't you'll get bogged down and lose your motive. By learning some riffs you'll build up finger strength and agility. If you're learning to read and want some simple tunes I can send you scores a few easy ones. PM me.
8. Don't worry about the location. We can deliver FOC. We can get a string of BCers to collect and deliver in a chain to any part of the country! LOL! Lets not let this get to the 5 month mark!!
9. Hey Viking, thanks for the useful info. I agree with you totally and know where you're coming from. Youtube is good for checking the Bartolini gives the sound you want. This is a good video for giving info on the sound The next thing to look for is make sure the size of the pups are right for the bass; without you having to get the tools out too much on the body. Take a look here: http://www.bartolini..._bass_pu_s4.htm here's another video with the Bartolini P-Js http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOuV7-lV2XE
10. Hmm.. Mike Vs Andy... let the "Battle of the Basses" Commence! I think Mike does sound serious about it. He's an experianced ebayer too, so he'll bid at the last moment. Maybe Andy and Mike should chat it over. It'd be a shame to lose it altogether.
11. Paul, I've PMed and offered to collect too. I'm also expecting to be driving to Yorkshire 1st May. I'm sure between us we can cover it with no worries. Cheers Rich
12. You could ask him for a erial number. Then you can check it out on the Warwick web site. You need also to check out the neck. Warwick made some with a neck like a baseball bat. You may love that, or hate it. But either way, I would want to, know before parting with some hard-earned. But if it works out to be a good bass, then it's a real cool find.
13. The firs t thing I would suggest is to take your bass to a local store and tryit though a few amps of different makes. make sure it's not the amp that's the problem. It would be a shame to spend £100 on pups only to find its your amp that's lacking. Then take a good look at your bass and it's value. I've seen it on ebay for £99. OK, that was a lefty, but are you going to double your investment in the bass and it will STILL only be worth £99? I don't want to be rude, but take a good look about and think first before you spend serious money on a £99 bass. I would respectfully suggest trying out a s/hand Ibanez - some come with Barts as standard. Another is the Fender Squier. You can get a s/hand one on ebay for between £100-150. IMHO if you go for a better replacement bass the build will possibly be better and you'll gain more in the way of sustain and other factors. Right now s/hand basses are going cheap. Post again if you're sure about upgrading the pups
14. If it was on a "Buy it now" for £150 I'd be sitting here playing it as we speak... but I'm watching...
15. I'm so pleased you're not an ABC fan. I have to say I was worried for a mo there. If you HAVE to re-create it, then I too would use a bass for that section. I also have great confidence that your rendition will be SO much better than the original. Especially in the section where you use the flange and overdrive :-P
16. It's computer. No strings were harmed in the making of this masterpiece To be more helpful... to perform this, yes, you could use slap n pop as appropriate I guess. As long as you perform the requisite Hail-Marys and beg for forgivness etc
17. +1 on the Bartolinis for a nice rounded deep sound. But, Viking, what exactly are you asking? Do you want advice on pup/string selection or about the install itself?
18. Hey, here's a pup to fit it... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/200602-musicman-sterling-usa-humbucker-pickup-true-dual-coil-fs/page__p__2009193__hl__musicman__fromsearch__1#entry2009193 Cool one for a Musicman fan!
19. errr.... I know I'm slow... but u say "can't get used to a 5"? This has 4 strings?
20. I've had a few tendon/muscular issues and from my experiance I would go straight to a good Osteopath. Doctors don't know enough about it. 1 session with a good practitoner and maybe 2-3 follow-up sessions and you could be in a far better situation.
21. Sorry to say this Mick, but unless you've bought or tried-out a bass from each of 3-4 I don't think you have the right to vote here... imho I'm sure all these guys named in this forum have produced some amazing pieces of work. Maybe some owners can post pics and reviews of some of the beauties they own? If possible with sounds or videos? After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Cello

I'm learning to sight read, so I've been raiding my bro-in-law's music as he's a cello teacher. The only problem I keep finding is the cello goes lower than the bass, so I keep getting GAS for a 5 string. - That, or I need to re-write it in MuseScore and transpose it to a higher key. BTW, my B-in-L just bought a cello; £68K. It was a bargain, so he says.
23. You asked for a lowish cost one... This isn't perfect, but it's lowish cost, or could be: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251256504208?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
24. I've been going the Youtube/book self-taught route for the past 3 years. I recon that for myself I've gone a good way on this path, but I'm getting now that I need feedback and direction. I don't know if, because of work, I'll have the time available to play in a band but I do feel I want to move to the next stage; whatever that is? FWIW my path has been this:

Youtube to get the stance, hand technique, and a small amount of other info.
www.studybass.com - has taught me about scales (backed up by books), turn-arounds, 12-bar blues
I've gone half-way through 2-3 books: Crash Course Bass, Walking Bass lines and Blues for Bass.
Latest book is Reading Music for Bass, by Stuart Clayton.
www.musescore.com - gets you free software for you to write scores on the PC, so you can transpose tunes and play stuff. Through this I've got to play stuff from "The Star-Spangled Banner" to "Sound of Silence". So now I can sight-read a bit.
But the book route is having me think I'm just copying. I don't know if I can join a band because of work commitments. I don't know what my next stage is, or my objective. So at the age of 53 I want to get better, but I'm lacking direction. I'm enquiring about lessons with a teacher now because I hope I'll learn where I want to go. Or... does anyone here have ideas? Please? Oh - one more thought.. I know others play the bass line to their collection of CDs or MP3s. I don't see muself doing that very much. I guess I really aspire to playiing like Victor Wooten... so the bar's a bit high I guess.
