To the OP: According the Victor Wooten, the exact notes you play are less important than the keeping of the groove. Any "wrong note" is only a half-tone away from a correct note, so a simple slide of 1 fret will take you back to being in the "right" place. Besides, how many times do you see a sheet music score in "C", but in there, you find a few sharps or flats in the score? I think the reality is we can't answer this without hearing if you kept the groove and did your playing flow with the others? If they've asked you back they're either desperate or you're not bad. I'd say you should enjoy the moment and don't worry about your "classifiaction" just keep on working at it and get better. Keep on rockin!!

I'm looking at the hard edge under the guy's right wrist and the over all look. I've got an Ibby, but wouldn't go for this. I recon playing this is a labour of love. Not for me thanks

I recon there's a chance you're thinking the job is simpler than it really is. This is a job calling for some precision cutting and fitting of the frets. If it's done badly you'll never be able to get/do a good setup ever again. I'd pay the man for a good job, or buy a good bass that meets the need. A cheap job will probably only end in tears - "you pay peanuts; you get monkeys"

Learning to read and finding the (hopefully) right notes on the fretboard. Right now I'm learning "Silent Night", "The Star Spangled Banner" and "Another one bites the dust". The first to are ok, but the 3rd - mine sounds nothing like it.

I had a passive Ibanez with a 3 way Eq. I thought I wouldn't be without the Eq. I bought a Warwick Corvette passive and REALLY missed the boost features of the Eq. I traded in the Corvette for a Warwick Streamer (active/passive switchable) and I'm amazed how often I turn the active off. My guess is sometimes what you want varies with the instrument/pups. So never dismiss a bass just cos it's active or passive. Just try it and if it's right for you,go for it!!!

Sorry to disagree Shylock, but don't EVER use spray polish - on anything. I come from a background of making furniture. If you use a spray polish you get a bloom-finish on the instrument (or furniture) that can't be re-lacqured. If you ever need to respray an instrument that's been sprayed with polish, you have to completely strip the existing lacqure to get rid of the finish that will resist the new lacquer spray. Always use beeswax on instuments or furniture. It's easier to strip off later and leave the lacquer that can be rubbed down and sprayed or waxed again. When buying beeswax, be careful too about the one you buy. I've come across some that are abrasive too. Abrasive is ok for wood finish, but for the likes of a black fender body you need a good smooth wax. A good car wax would probably be good - again made for a situation where you may want to strip and re-spray.

Really sorry to hear about this. Unfortunatly on this kind of thing Ebay, in my experiance of being on both sides of this, always sides on the side of the buyer when it comes to disputes. And Royal Mail is next to useless even when "Special Delivery" goes missing, no matter what info you have. Tracking numbers mean nothing to them, in my exp. But I've mailed full bass instruments for £6.99 and they got there ok in 5 days - signed for too!

I suggest that in front of him you put it to the vote with all of the band. When he gets a full hands up to "$od off" he just might get the message. But then again... maybe not.

[/quote] +1, but you may want to look at a slightly bigger amp than 15w. I went for a Marshall MB30 but later found it limiting - not good for slap and not too happy on the over all sound. I'm really pleased with my Roland Cube 100w, so look at a Roland. You may get a good secondhand one. Good luck

When designing electrics for buildings you can't avoid having 3 phases close to each other. You need to assume any 2 sockets used could easily have 415V between them. It wouldn't be such a bad idea IMHO to have it as a band rule that everyone uses an RCD and if you can, get an earth lead out from your own gear and clamp it to the earth (mic-stand?) of any other gear about so much the better. Remember it takes no more than 30mA through your body to kill you, whatever the voltage.

All the glue ideas are really good, but if you can also "pin it" that would be better - What I mean here is drill into the body and the horn, then push a pin in to the body and the other half pushes into the horn so you have a pin helping to stop it breaking off again. In order to get it to sit propperly you may need to drill an-oversized hole and use a filler to take up the space round the pin - maybe loads of superglue? After fixing, if I were you, I would then strip the body down and get a good re-spray... but I guess it all depends on the value of the bass and the cost. Err... just seen, you say cracks in the neck pocket? Write it off - strip the parts (you never know...) and get a new bass. You can pick up some good deals right now.

I SO agree with the other comments above. If only more demos were just like this one. In so many ways it's better than Warwick's own vids. I just can NOT watch Andy Irvine!!
