  1. He powder coated all the metalwork, so now he can't earth it. So he'll have buzzing earth problems. Spraying under a tree will mean the body is sure to be covered in bits and rubbish. Finally, he strings it like a guitar. May not be a major issue, but I wouldn't fit strings like that. Horrible sound too, but he's happy.
  2. I don't gig, but in my lounge at home I have used a MarkBass LM2 and Bareface BIgOne (15" and 6"), Now I use my LM3 and a One10. The gain and volume don't go much above 3, but the sound is fantastic. The BigOne was better for an all-round the room sound, but it was a bit big. The controls at 3+3 give a playing volume at "conversational" level. It doesn't disturb the neighbours.
  3. Another BCer was telling me he does small gigs with a small BF cab, but still has his 610 on stage because it looks the part. That's showmanship.
  4. @Rob Taylor hover your mouse over the person's avatar and a pop-up will appear giving you an option to message him.
  5. Hey Kev, Welcome from another Herts BCer. Rich
  6. Hi Rob, Welcome to Basschat. This looks to me like it was £135 and it's been dropped to £100. If you look, he's also asking £5 for postage. He won't change the price in the top of the thread because once the OP is done, you can't edit it. There's a kind of rule here that we don't make offers in the thread. It's best to PM @Philip Bass Cheers R
  7. As most here will know, I don't gig. What I can bring to this is I'm a salesman of too many years and no matter if it's originals or covers you're selling a product. To get the gigs in the first place, landlords/promoters will like the idea of covers because you can list a load of names/titles and it feels comfortable. It's like when you look at a list of tracks on a CD, it feels reassuring when you see titles you know. (Stupid though that is; why do you want to buy tracks you already have?) Not being in a band I've been to see a few bands gigging in the area. No matter what you're playing you need this: You need to be tight on the beat to sound good. Play with conviction - play like you like it and believe in what you're playing. If you don't the audience will smell it. (Especially if its an original) Originals - if the punters don't know your repertoire your originals should have a familiar flavour to the groove - folk like to feel something familiar about it. Originals - don't expect the punters to be understanding all the lyrics of a ballad an entertained by it's witty turns. They won't hear most of it. Simply feed them a good familiar sounding groove. If this is teaching you to suck eggs, then I apologise in advance.
  8. Like @chris_b I'm another fan of the One10. Alex tells me 1 alone will handle a moderate size gig. I use a Little Mark 3 with mine for a very clean sound.
  9. Love your header image, Sylvia.

I'm finding that as time goes on, the collection is becoming all Warwick and smaller!

      Happy Christmas

      Ooo, I love these close-up shots. :)

  10. Excuse me, but are we *really* talking about a solid 9ct gold bridge? I would imagine it's not more "gold" than my BBOT is "silver". You should earth the bridge in the same way as normal. The fact that it's "gold" makes no difference.
  11. I know I posted the live version, as it's what I found, but I too prefer the version on their album. Aren't most live versions of anything by anybody, largely overblown and often self indulgent?
  12. Just thinking, Long Train Running is very similar. Just sayin'
  13. I also like the Chicago version Thanks for reminding us of this.
  14. Unless I'm mistaken I think it must have been Mike at the Cambridge folk festival a year or so back. I was luck enough to try one or 2 of these. They're really nice. Richie Blake talks some total cr@p in his demos though. I don't know if to get angry or laugh. Good luck in the marketing and thanks for supporting BC
  15. Something worth knowing is, to remove dust knibs in the lacquer, don't sand in the usual way. In stead of using the rough side of the W&D, turn the paper over and use the back. This will usually remove the knibs and you can often then avoid needing (yet) another coat. Besides, the next coat will bring yet more knibs anyway.
  16. What about when, in 6 months you want another One10 to stack with it. Will you be able to get a matching one? I fear not. It's unlikely to matter to me, but worth considering IMHO.
  17. It's also £70 for the added benefit of the twewdy finish, assuming you actually want the silver front.
  18. Well, what do you guys think of it? IMHO it's interesting. I certainly like my One10 More details http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0019RSrpqegCBIx-HS2RRtRUVrgdFhecF2HZ3WT-ZqxsEQA-d6UdHVxEMwDkvzPqoHJpvu7pVjvH2mmPqutB9Ih0JyN6mOcR-4dE91_JjUEjMPNXQQc-JY3p6lmKjbWQh39ggVjFywQv3cOG5rrs8rFYOU0hFENsNpUy-rz0wfvZf8v8vYvWEhi6IJfFm9pc6v5qTsVREZODe3YBSBgDkB9ig==&c=hKN0is59K_CPX9-AYt6cdPYyjq_3P13JmJG4rWELk_NwfQFyGy18cg==&ch=w6kBUkEnVanl2lfc993Lf-YjDgVfzaCPK9DkDEdBQ4OJQnaqDg9GEw==
  19. @AndyTravis is it irrelevant? I travel a lot about the country. There are a lot of places where I could drop it off. Regrettably, Manchester isn't one of them. WRT your location. It was one of the things that got lost when we went to the new version. So you need to edit your profile and put it back in.
  20. I'm fairly close. But I guess we need to be a mind reader to know where you are, which I'm not. So I'm out.
  21. Surely "faster" is all a matter of how well it suits you, isn't it?
  22. Brass just-a-nut 3 can be bought and added for about £50. If it has a 2 piece bridge then it's a good bass. I would go for the Streamer if it's a 2 piece bridge. This comes after owning both Streamer Stage 1 and an FNA.
  23. If the Streamer is a neck through that would seal it for me. Maybe if you posted a little more detail it might be easier? I know you're maybe thinking, if you post links someone may jump on it before you, but price and any other info, such as the necks might help us to give a better opinion; if that's what you're looking for. If it helps, Streamers usually fetch more than Corvettes, but the FNA usually fetches more than a normal Corvette.... but you might know this.
  24. Thanks @gary mac How did it go?
