Its really important to match the pickups carefully. You need a lowish vintage-type P with a pretty hot J pickup, or the P will dominate. Also, it needs care setting up the pickup heights to again ensure the P does not dominate. When it all comes together it can be fantastic thuogh, and its not that difficult really.
In PJ configuration I've always just used the manufacturers pickups. I must be having the P pup too close to the strings. Thanks for comment.

Frank bought my Tascam GB-10 from me. Good coms and easy to deal with. He collected the item from Mrs G. It all went smoothly and easily. Thanks Frank.

I'm with Chris. I've had a few PJs and don't find the J does a lot on a PJ. If you have to do it, I'd go for a switch. Take a look at Tony Franklin's bass.

Price £80 posted within the UK With this device you can:

Listen to MP3s
Slow down tracks
Speed up tracks
Change pitch of tracks
Play over tracks with Bass or Guitar
Add guitar effects
Record your playing (with or without the track)
Headphone bass/guitar practice device
Metronome
See the independent review below for more info. All I ever play is solo pieces. Mostly I sight read. But I don't do "the band thing".

I usually set the height of each string by using an allen key as a guage between the string and the highest fret on the fretboard. This way they're all the same distance from the frets, but they follow the radius.
I've actually got one of these PB-50 basses, currently stock. Came as a part trade on something else I sold. Cogs be turning after reading this thread! To the guys who did these, how did you nail the headstock shape before taking tools to them?
You can download the template http://basschat.co.uk/topic/87240-tele-bass-headstock-template/ Remember, we need to see pictures!

If the volume difference isn't caused by the set up, and faulty strings aren't the issue, try swapping the coils round: So the section now under the E, A will be under the D, G, and vice-president versa. See if this moves the low volume to the E,A. If so, change the pups. In relation to the Mark Hopus thing. I've had basses with both configurations. I still do. I also have read posts on here others say, for all the agro of changing them round, it makes very little difference.

Removal of fake decal on painted metallic headstock.
Only just use read this again and only realised it is painted metallic. Ummmm tricky now. How about sticking another decal over it ? Or yeah carefully blade it off. Then relacquer it.
I would still scrape it, but go gently. Then finish it after with very fine wet & dry. Then lacquer it. -
Don't try and get under the decal with the Stanley knife blade as it will dig in. You'll want it at about 90 degrees. Have a look on YouTube for people using cabinet scrapers - it's the same technique
This. You need to hold the blade in your fingers with the long sharp edge flat to the surface and scrape towards you. Allow the blade edge to tilt back, so it will be at, something like a 45 degree angle. Use it as a scraper, but dragging, not pushing. So think of it as being like a window squeegee, not a wall-paper scraper. This method is also good for getting a smooth surface on wood. So, as Norris says; it's used in wood furniture. Which is the industry in which I learned to do it. -

I usually do it by scraping it with a flat blade. The blade I usually use is one from a Stanley knife, removed from the holder. New sharp blades are better than an old one. -
My beef with the comps is with the follow through on prizes too. A while back he had a whole slew of several top items up for grabs - amp, cab, bass and other stuff. Instead of allocating one item to each of several winners the whole lot went to a single person in Ireland. What a waste. You get the impression that once the competition has raised attention the rest of it isn't worth bothering with. ...
He's a business man first. He's happy to have got all the attention, the trial members and the mailing list. After that sending the gear out to 1 address is cheaper than to split it. He's he's probably crying into his cappuccino here that it would make no logical sense to send all 7 basses to one person.
...(Why it wont let me upload pics, iv no idea)
Have you used up your limit for pictures you can have hosted here? Your best bet would be us have them hosted on another site and link to them. Like this: a nice pic of MY LX. These are really cool basses. THIS IS NOT the bass for sale!
