1.
@Grangur could you tell me what makes it look like a squier to you? I mean what model/signature of squier? Cheers
The general shape of the body. A number of Squiers also come with Skunk lines too. But TBH any judgment of mine should come with a public health warning. There are many more knowledgeable people on here than me. Edit: Have you taken the neck off and looked for markings and to see if the body is solid wood; assuming you can see anything through the paint?
 2. Looks like a Squier to me; which would still make it a bargain. Nice paint job too.
 3.
I might have to, got a reply from the retailer telling me that 'due to the age of the item' I can't return or exchange it. This is nonsense right ?
Looking at the Consumer Rights Act (linked above) it looks like you would have to prove the item was faulty at the time of delivery; whatever that means. How do you prove the front panel was "faulty" if the fault is that the plastic is of a type that will breakdown in sunlight? Maybe the answer is to buy a new front panel, if MB will sell you one?
 4. Have to agree. If I was buying a bass without the TRC i would definitely expect the missing cover to be reflected in the price.
 5.
I have heard differently. I have heard these basses are as good as 3x their price competitors. The production is all in house & there is no advertising which allowed for the price to be lower. I heard this from highly respected players off the record. I just bought one so I guess will be able to asses this for myself soon!
I didn't mean they're of poor quality. I mean, if you're a beginner, as most/many of Scotts members will be, it's a fantastic instrument to have. It's a good instrument for any of us.
(sorry about my "wrong" quote. I have gotten a lot out of SBL too. The ratio of lesson to time watching to find is a little low tho it has to be said. I suppose it doesn't matter so much tho!
Sorry, I don't understand that. I too have got a lot out of Scotts lessons. When watching some you need to skip the banter, but at least with Scott you can do that.
 6.
I've met grangur, gremlinandy, homer and walman (I think). All have been top. I work with Norris.
Likewise, good Sir. I too have had some wonderful experiences. I met with Binky-bass yesterday simply for me to try his multi-string basses. Had a great time. Only ever had one bad experience; I got chewed off after my driving a 150mile round trip and I failed to buy the guy's bass. I survived.
 7. If I may be nosey; where do you want the bass shipped to and from?
 8.
Obvisously a 112 isn't going to suit all situations, but for most pubs, clubs and smaller wedding venues it will be fine, assuming you can pump a little through the PA. What's the most powerful 112 cab/amp option out there?
Thrash metal or country dancing? What you're playing MUST make a difference?
 9.
Nor me. I just cannot get on with this online learning thing. I'd rather just learn a piece by ear / tab and sometimes even music
You're not alone. I've not been there in ages. I have gone in a few times this week. It's like a graveyard. It's dead compared to how it used to be. Scott must be hoping this will get it up and thriving again.
 10.
So far, it hasn't attracted me. I've looked at a few of Scott's clips but Internet tutoring is not for me. I appreciate the value of video clips but I choose not to be a subscriber. Instead I graze on freely available material. In addition I have an affordable mentor locally who helps me sort the chaff from the grain. I am not one for competitions. It would have to be a prize that I am actively in search of at the time of the competition and even then I'd think two or three times about it before entering. On the other hand, I think Scott's Sire give-aways are more relevant prizes to offer his subscribers than I see in a lot of online competitions. Speaking of promotional competitions, I often wondered how folk cope with the bundle that Channel 5's Gadget Show gives away every week. Later competitions feature a period of free storage as one of the prize items. That must be necessary to give "winners" a chance to cope with the mountain of packaging let alone cope with getting familiar with all the stuff that they want you to have in your house!
His paid-for lessons are very significantly better than the earlier clips on YouTube. But what got me with the previous bass giveaways he's done is, he shows the basses to all the current members saying "you can win this". Then, strangely, they all seem to go to new members on a 14-day trial who you never seem to hear of again.
 11. You need to remember this is a PR exercise to attract new punters to his Bass lessons academy. So, IMHO these are great basses for someone who is starting at the lower end and learning.
 12. I bought 3. Still can't slap to save my life!
 13.
glad you got your gear back, and understand about not being happy that the perp got away with it. BUT, if it was a car that was stolen you would never see it again unless it is burnt out, and he may actually have bought it in good faith from the robber.
True. I had a colleague who had a 5 series stollen. It was recovered with the engine burned out and suspension and brakes wrecked. He got nothing on the insurance because the police reported it was recovered in the same condition as it was lost. If the police had checked the place of the crime for finger prints it could have changed the story. But, as said, it's not the crime of the century so they'd rather close the case.
 14. Some of us here may not be familiar with the pups and pre that you have, but we are familiar with reading diagrams. I guess we could Google search MEC circuit diagrams, but we don't know what models you have. You're also just talking about odd wires, not giving us the full picture. So good, luck with your endeavour. ATM, most here won't be able to help much.
 15. I'd like to say that the sale of a bass to Graham was easy and uneventful, but it was far from that. The actual sale went though smoothly. Graham is good at his word, trusting and trustworthy and an all-round good guy. The bass was collected on or just after the 1st May. I took FOREVER to get there. DPD lost it, took forever to do anything about it and it must have taken about 3 weeks to arrive. I did keep Graham informed and I kept chasing it with Interparcel, but Graham was amazingly patient in waiting for the bass to get there. I would be happy to deal with him again, anytime. But I would worry about the carrier. Not Graham's fault though. Many thanks Graham
 16.
Now sold, sorry.
Ahh.. I know you're new here. What we do, when it's sold is we edit the header and put "SOLD" in the beginning of the title. All the best
 17.
"Every time someone says anything negative about RHCP, someone quotes Nick Cave" - ped
Don't knock it, saying that is probably Nick Cave's biggest claim to fame. Just like the guy at Decca who turned down The Beatles.
 18. I was out on Sunday, ended up half-way to Taunton and coming the rest of the way could have been on the cards. I had PMed you and hoped to get some answers to decide if to come the other 100 miles to come to you. But, alas 'twas not to to be. That's life. I'll hang on for another similar Warwick Streamer. I'd probably go for a 5. GLWTS
 19.
I mean, I don't think I agree with a single part of your post! Perhaps it being overrated, but its a great track,
+1 RHCP may not be musical geniuses but they're better than some of the bands that get a lot of acclaim here. Each to their own.
 20. That is the image, full-size. I think you need to look at how you take the pictures. You need to look at the camera settings and get it to take higher resolution images. It's possible your camera/phone is set to take small images for posting on Farcebook etc. Once you have bigger pictures, you'd also do well to get them up-loaded to Flikr or Photobucket and then use sharing links from those and post them here that way.
