1. Sir, your pictures are tiny. Even when you click the thumbnails and see the actual pics; they're still very small.
2. Edit... Note to self. Don't bother getting excited if the seller isn't even following the thread. They probably won't be answering any PMs and questions.
3. ... and Stonehenge is just a pile of stones, isn't it? For some, history holds magic and romance. Others don't get it.
4. http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/CTS-EP-4385-000-250K-Log-Split-Shaft-Potentiometer/1CZC?origin=product-ads&campaign=PLA+Shop+-+GENERIC&adgroup=GENERIC&medium=vertical_search&network=google&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=63480d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=80835767917&gclid=Cj0KEQjwx6TJBRCWtsiXpI7bhOYBEiQA1en3F8G3G_6SNPYPod_2iPpXi_klQHJx3Q5awKwbDVvix7kaAqji8P8HAQ These. That said, I like linear ones rather than log, if you can find them. Bit it's your choice.
5. That looks amazing. Congratulations on the win!
6. When you remove the tuning head, is there anything of the screw for you to get hold of? If yes -
Needle nose pliers and lots of patience
If no - get a sharp, metal drill-bit in a column drill to drill it out. It may be best to get a luthier to do this.
7. Victor Wooten is also a cellist. Just sayin'. My guess is most of the really talented players will also play something else. I guess the question is "how well? and "Does it fit in well with the same audience?"
8. I stand corrected. Really surprised though. I imagined it was all highly automated mass manufacture. Thank you.
9. Or... you could buy the Roland pickup and open your world! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbubsi8eK24
10.
Are you able to open the back? I would like to see how that plastic Roland part is fitted and if I can retro fit the roland
Hey Reggie, Take a look at this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvAjDlrdSUI So, there's nothing to it but double-sided tape. Go for it Reggie. This bass keeps beckoning to me, but I must resist and get used to moving up and down the neck.
11.
Arse burger actually (see Stressed Eric) - the curse of choosing a "funny" email when you were a teenager and getting stuck with it...!
Only a curse if YOU keep using it, surely? GLWTS. If this was collection Cambridge....
12. IMHO your technical brain is correct. The choice of pot will make next to no difference the the tone. The important thing is to get a quality one so it lasts well.
13. The tuners I have are these Dimension 1 is 35mm Dimension 2 is 27mm Between the other pair - the short distance, is 20mm PM me if you're interested.
14.
I am very interested in this. My main bass is a Marleaux Consat Custom. It sounds great but sometimes I wish it was a bit more aggressive sounding. The pickups are Delano and I don't think the shells are the same size as any other makes to just drop some in, and I'd like to avoid routing. The bass has a Glockenklang preamp but I'm wondering about a swap to something more sizzly. Maybe the Darkglass Tone Capsule. It's either that or asking someone like Nordstrand to make custom pickup sizes but that would be really quite expensive!
Have you thought of changing the body wood to maple? That can give more attack to the sound. Joking aside, Nordstrand would only be interested if you want 500+ You could mail Jess Loureiro. He specialises in custom pups. http://jlguitars.com/
15.
Decision made, Off to Camden in the morn! Cheers all.
Wise move.
16.
I always thought they used Swanp ash what other kind of ash would they have used? Swan ash grows in the US I asked out of curiosity because I want to build one
Swamp ash is wood from ash trees that were growing in swampland. Due to the high amount of water, the wood develops holes in the grain that contained the water. When seasoned the water is removed and this becomes air-space, so the wood ends up being lighter in weight than normal ash.
17. If you have a few high frets then you'll have buzzes and stuff going on. Yes, that's worth fixing IMHO. It would drive me bananas.
18.
There is a slight buzz when tuned to pitch on one of the pegs and I am not a fan of the feel and, for some reason, lack of tension on the pegs. With a slight touch you can detune the strings.
Ok. I'll draw up the footprint of the ones I have, showing spaces between holes, and post it here "today" sometime. They were acquired for a project. I actually have 5. One has a slightly bent head. But the other 4 are in pretty much perfect condition.
19. Are they the same as Squier machine heads? In which case, I have some going spare. I guess this depends on what you're wanting to achieve. Do you have a problem with the ones you have, or are you wanting a different look, or is it to reduce weight?
20.
Been using a preamp pedal for about 2 years now with a passive bass. Plus points: Bass is as it was. No gut changing. Can use it with other basses. Its very much set and forget. Maybe every now and then I bend down to make minor adjustments but these are usually set and forget once done on a gig. Can use the passive tone control on the bass at the same time for even more tonal options. You get a bit of a boost in the signal chain so you get the same omph as an active without having to turn the gain up on the amp further than you might be happy with. Volume control to adjust the gain. (didn't know how useful this was till I got this pedal). It works. Has as seperate (the one I use) tuner out and DI out. Has a light that tells me if the battery is low. Can also use mains power. Mute switch. Minus points: Nope.
Thanks Jim. I think that's the way I'll go. I'll experiment a bit more with the Zoom B3 for now.
21.
Bought my svt810 a while back, just after I first joined basschat. Great guy to deal with. Sorry this feedback is very very late. I really didn't know how it all worked back then.
I'm sure Lee will appreciate the feedback. Lee also has another feedback thread here. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/70088-feedback-for-raslee/page__fromsearch__1
22. Hey Emmanuel. Really sorry to see this. Good luck in getting it back. Someone must have known you had it there.
