Get some veneer slices and super-glue some slices under the feet of the bridge. If you don't have veneer, PM me your address send a selection of light and dark veneers so you can choose what looks best. 2nd point: Botch job = Fake luthier.
Amazing that that is still here. My Maruszczyk is one of the best basses I have played, they are amazing instruments.
Not really surprising at all. It's here for trade only. So, he's not only looking someone who likes a red jazz, but they need to have a bass he wants too. Doing this narrows down the chances a lot. I could be interested in the jazz, but I don't have a bass to trade.
I wish they'd given it to a better player to demonstrate.
Me too. I was just thinking his technique of finger-slapping the strings against the pup/neck, when playing the neck pup, made the demo next to useless.

Here's another item I bought, used once or twice at home and is now gathering dust. BOSS FS-6 Two switches in one, the FS-6 combines the FS-5L (latch-type) and FS-5U (momentary-type) technology into one unit. With two switches side-by-side, the FS-6 allows you to select either latch or momentary mode for each switch. Choose the configuration that best suits your playing style and setup. Both footswitches can be independently assigned as latch-type or momentary-type Stereo input jack for single stereo cable connection Can be connected to other footswitches (FS-5L/FS-5U/FS-6/AB-2) for extension Connect to a wide variety of instruments, rhythm machines, guitar amps, and electronic devices that have control input jacks compatible with FS-5L/FS-5U http://www.boss.info/products/fs-6/ Drop me a line if you're interested. I'm located in East Herts, but I can post it.

If you're using a veneer, then a piece approx 60mm x 7mm tucked right up the bridge end of the pocket should be enough.

Changing the pots and capacitor should make no difference to the sound. If the cap is a different value it will make a difference to how the tone operates. If the new pots are linear, as opposed to the log one's this too will change the feel in the operation. If the sound changes it will be because you have changed the set up when taking it apart to do the work.
The guy prefers the coke from the can, apparently it tastes better.
And maybe he likes the taste that comes from small particles of metal in the Coke? TASTMAW -
Congratulations? The OP asked why buy a roadworn - I'd say the feel. There's no point explaining feel when it's easily experienced first hand. I've played a few (though never bought one) & think they feel fantastic. You've played at least one & didn't like it. These two points are irrelevant as the OP doesn't have our fingers.
Ok, so the removal of the paint makes it feel better to you? That's a fair opinion. -
This reminds me what someone once has said to me. Coke taste better out of a can than out of a bottle.
Coke is corrosive and has an effect on the container. Does this argument carry weight in relation to the paint on a bass? -
I recently bought a Flea Road Worn Jazz Bass, and couldn't be happier with its playability and tone.
Not disputing your opinion on the tone, but what do the dings and scrapes do to improve the tone? The tone would be identical if the paint was completely unmanaged? Surely that argument has less strength than the one about tone woods. -
I've got a Fender with a Bill Lawrence p-bass pup in it and a Babitz bridge. It's the most (only) un-muddy Fender I've ever had. But how muddy is it? Dead strings muddy? Tone off muddy? Also, have you checked how tight the pocket is? A floppy pocket or badly fitted neck won't help either.

Are you asking if, by using a different size of capacitor, you might get something like a scooped sound? I think the answer to this is "no"
How far away is your nearest GuitarGuitar? Many of these kinds of questions can be answered by simply going to a shop & playing one.
Did that. It did nothing for me. "It takes all sorts to make a world..." -
E bay...where have all the bargains gone?

If they're going to take a commission of £85, a £1 listing fee is neither here nor there. -
I always sell with a buy it now and make me an offer, you get a few chancers but it's only an email and you don't have to answer it never used BC to be honest, I think you get a better price on Gumtree and Ebay (BCers are too well informed perhaps) and only ever bought one thing of BC, (in fact thinking about it I've never bought anything off Gumtree either), and the set fee on basschat puts me off
I too use a fixed price, with "Make me an Offer". Or I use the auction starting at my bottom price or something near it. Gone are the days of starting it at 99p and hoping it'll find the market value. You'd be safe selling a Fender that way, but selling something obscure could be risky. Ebay's reserve prices are odd IMHO. You've got folk placing bids with an on-screen message saying "reserve not met". It's like "guess my bottom price". What gets me on Ebay is the 10% fees. I sell a bass at £850 and they get £85!!? If it was £42.50 it would be more acceptable. I've bought and sold on Gumtree and BC. BC is good for Fenders and Rays. Given the amount I've advertised that didn't sell on BC, I would go with you that the fees are, in my case, questionable VFM, but it does support the forum staying here. -
The first bid that clears the reserve if present, yes.
I've never sold using a reserve. Only sold in an auction with a BIN. When the first bid landed the BIN disappeared. -
Are you playing the bass with the tone full open, or adjusted to cut the treble at all? If it's full open, then what you're hearing is the pup, pure and simple, with very little influence from the capacitor at all.
