1.
not nearly as well as id like too...
You're in good company.
 2.
Agree that there are more important things, and i doesnt really matter in the grand scheme of things . but have you ever bought a lemon ? wether it be a bass , car etc, i have ! and i remember how sick i felt . market research is a good thing and a must but it only works if you have the relevant info on the product you have to research as in brand , model number etc. I am not trying to come across as "outraged from Milton Keynes" but i have a strong sense of fairness , and that extends to items i sell aswell. and to me this seems very very wrong. not sure if i will achieve anything but i feel its right to at least flag up people like this. Aint much that holds society together nowadays but giving a damn IMHO is one of those things
I accept this completely, but if you want to be sure, buy from a retail store. That way your consumer rights are protected by law. Risk is what goes with the saving in money. An alternative is to buy basses that are harder to copy. Warwick, Spector, Ricks etc are all harder to copy. When you hold it you know it's the real thing. None of those are cheap, but a Rockbass at £300 is good value for the money.
 3.
I think the design is hideous, looks like a really cheap model that's avoiding getting sued by fender.
There are 101 other look-a-like makers to go for before Fender go after Fodera. On the subject of the empty electronic cavity: Back in the 60s and 70s BMW and Mercedes cars had radios fitted as an optional extra. The thinking being that you don't pay that kind of money for the car, only to be forced into having a cheap radio screwed in the dash.
 4.
About £2.5k, then? (Plus another few hundred to get it sent to the UK?) I think the Monarch P looks gorgeous and, if I had the money, would gladly buy one. I would definitely rather spend the cash on this, a new instrument of the highest quality, than a 40-50 year old piece of crap that should really be put in the bin. I wouldn't buy anything with failing frets, failing electronics, failing and rusting hardware, flaking paintwork, and very ordinary construction.
You missed out saying that the ones in good condition have possibly spent years in a cupboard because the owner couldn't get on with it and didn't like it, but simply didn't need to move it on.
 5. I'm not saying this would be THE bass for me, but if they do: 5 string version of this, 19mm spacing, 45mm nut sings with the clarity of a Warwick, Weight of 4-4.5Kg Empty pre-amp cavity Right looks (and the blue version looks good to me. I'll place my order today. I could sell most of my collection. It would save space, I'd free up some money and I'd enjoy looking into pre-amps to go in there rather paying for and then putting up with what the manufacturers give you.
 6.
I guess that's the point. If the materials are the same, and the consequential sound is aimed at representing a 'P' or 'J' sound, then essentially Fodera are stating that their engineering skills, brand and style = justification of price. Without trying one I couldn't commit to an opinion, but I'd probably not buy one either!
Well, to continue the car analogy, why would you buy a Bentley that's doing it's best to look like a Ford? Or maybe that's the sob in me?
 7. Shouldn't this be in with the other "Wanted" ads? Edit... except you can't do a trade in the Wanted section.
 8.
New guitar arrived today. The wood grain is "normal" and no damage to speak of on initial inspection. Only had 2 mins with it tho as I'm at work. Full inspection and report will follow But I'm over the moon with how it looks
Ah, NO!!!! Just when we were getting a real division in the opinions and we could have had a real 2nd round to the argument! It looks great. Can you play it?
 9.
Haha that's very generous of you As far as I can tell, you can choose from, 30,32 or 34 with these basses so it could be anything..?
Well I could be totally wrong on all fronts!
 10.
I get what you're saying but looking at the prices he's selling at (£15 profit + P&P, less actual postage costs and seller fees for eBay and PayPal, I can't see why he's doing it. Or am I missing something here?
I bet they're all Deko versions.
 11. Black would make it just the same as all the other P-basses out there. Cream makes it yours. Doesn't cream also date it as more vintage? I'm no expert on this. I'm often mystified when folk get all excited about yet another painted P with black pups, when to me they all seem to look the same and boring.
 12. Yes, I too have noticed that this seems to keep cropping up. It's like all things like this. I don't think you can do much to stop it. Ebay won't care. They get their fee. After that it's simply "buyer beware". Buyers need to do their own market research.
 13.
Yeah I've looked there but can't find the scale. Am I being blind and/or stupid?
No not blind or stupid. Aren't most of these 34" scale?
 14.
An equivalent Fender in terms of wood, and features is less than half-price
Bentley, Ford, Maserati, Opal.... well they're all made from the same materials aren't they? Ok, that is a bit extreme, but engineering must count for some of the price difference. I still don't see me buying one.
 15. At £120 you could do a lot worse. I'm sure it's a good bass. If you want to change the pickguard a Fender one would probably a good fit. I can't be 100% sure all the screw holes will be it the same position. But it'd nothing a small drill won't sort out. Good luck
 16.
Was that by any chance in 81/82? The same tour as the Concert in Central Park album? If so, I was there too. What a night. I saw him about 5 years ago, just as he'd turned 70, I think. Still very excellent.
The very same. Great night. I watched them while standing next to Jonathan King; back in the days when you didn't know any better!
 17.
... David Bowie's Young Americans for example benefits from the greater separation in that I hear lots of extra details that were always there but never really heard before. Roxy Music's Avalon is a stunner in any format but seriously good in surround. Dire Straights' Private Investigations' title track raises hairs on my goose bumps. I could go on.
And Telegraph Road. Elton John, Funeral for a friend and love lies bleeding.
 18. I remember standing in the old Wembley Stadium, watching Simon and Garfunkel playing "Sound of Silence". Man, when that dark day comes that we say our fond farewell to Mr Simon. I know I'm going to cry buckets for someone I never met, for the first time in my life. Assuming I'm fortunate enough to still be here. (Note to self: stop being sloppy!! Pull yourself together, man!)
 19. Would it, maybe, better to change the title to "Reading teacher wanted near Borehamwood" ?
 20. Searching for something to answer a question on another thread I found this recording. I'd never heard of this young lady and I was amazed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw7e_qvPgks The clarity of her voice is knockout. What gives you goosebumps?
 21.
It was very warranted trust me. Did anyone do a Funk version of Bridge Over Troubled Water.?
Yes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bS4T_r6rmk
 22.
I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the "Fat Albert Rotunda" album yet. Sorry...I forget how to imbed... http://www.youtube....h?v=42wNF5kjWAU
Take the youtube link and remove the "s" in "https"
 23.
I bought Rockit on12" vinyl when it first came out and promptly never heard of him again until a few years ago. I didn't appreciate exactly who we was. Think it's in the garage somewhere. It's not particularly funky but has a great groove and is probably his most famous number.
Never watched this before, although I know the track. The video must have take a serious amount of work at the time as robotics weren't as advanced at the time as they would be today. http://youtu.be/GHhD4PD75zY
 24.
Fail. There is only ONE Herbie Hancock.

Are you thinking of Herbie Flowers perchance? Cos that's what I did at first !!!
The one I like is the one with the bingy braces Sorry.... failed joke. (Note to self... be serious )
 25. You mean there's more than one man with that name? Wow! Confusing!
