1. I have experience in selling to large resellers. I know how they work. From Thomanns POV they sell instruments. They accept returns. If an instrument is returned they have a system for this and they don't lose money as they will have agreements with their suppliers. With a large seller, as soon as you want to do something outside of their system you are on your own. Their system can't handle it. The people yout talk to in customer services aren't allowed to make decisions about what might make sense. So you HAVE to work with them in ways they can operate.
 2.
I don't see it as a blemish or a sign or poor workmanship. It is just wood grain and loads of instruments will have a similar pattern.I have seen top level Musicmans, Fenders and others with different types of grain markings on the wood. I have attached a picture of my Sadowsky Metro which has a strange 'M' shape scrawl in the wood. I think that it looks pretty cool and makes it easy to pick out in the event somebody attempts to nick it. Other folk might think that it looks ugly though but it doesn't bother me. One thing that does annoy me is a really poorly done bookmatched top on a really expensive guitar (i.e Gibson Les Pauls).
Interesting mark there. I wonder what the story is behind that? It looks like the path of a creature burying it's way through the wood. If makes me laugh when you get people making a fuss about the bass being, for example, 30 years old. They're totally blind to the fact that the tree nay have take 300 years to get to the point of being cut down. They then moan about a small mark they don't understand. Then you get others who only like it if it's covered in "sea foam green". What is sea foam anyway? Chemical pollution perhaps? Nice!
 3. This is a really nice, acoustic guitar, 25" scale and cool tone. It's a Yamaha, FX340C acoustic. It needs a new set of strings, but other than that it was loved by its last owner and cared for well. The case has seen better days as the black has a few scuffs and one lock/catch is broken. But it still does it's job for taking it to a gig or even your Mum's for Christmas day. I'm located in Herts/Essex, but I travel about a bit and might be able to deliver, but I'm happy to ship it at the cost of the courier. It has one or 2 marks/dings, but generally in very good condition. The frets are pretty much "as new". Thanks for looking. 4.
haha that is so funny I assumed they didn't like it or something well, if they're over fifty, tell them it's time to either learn bass, or sell bass hehe
You clearly can't identify with the situation. He can't sell it because he's gone on about wanting to learn for the past 22 years, but kids, work etc got in the way. Now he has it and life still gets in the way of having the time to practice. He's now got ageing parents taking his time. Work commitments stop him from being able to gig, so learning is all in slow motion. He's not going to give up though. Besides he can't sell. After all, he has pride and the missus bought him that as a present for his 50th.
 5.
It is very odd indeed. I can't imagine that the pilot holes are not drilled by a machine... really strange
CNC computers don't often make mistakes.
 6.
I thought we were just to agree with the OP that he'd got terrible service and list the thousands of times Thomann has shafted us. Oh and follow it up with a pledge of support to never buy from them again.
Well, I for one, am trying my best not to buy from them. I'm also trying not to buy from any other seller as I'm trying to kick GAS. This situation is really odd though. Squier turn out 100s of basses. How come this one bass got singled out to have a second set of holes? After all they don't make a fretless by taking a fretted off the line and giving it special treatment. If fretless needed holes in a different position, which I can't see, they would drill the one set in the correct position. This isn't a luthier making a mistake. This is factory workers on a production line.
 7. Sounds good to me.. Please excuse Mick TheGreek. He's got something against Warwicks. I think he searches for the word Warwick and makes a negative comment on every possible occasion. It's nothing personal. Oh, btw, welcome to BC
 8. Has anyone actually played one? And, more to the point, have they wanted to play it to to the point of buying one? Surely, these were only an advertising stunt.
 9. Have to confess to buying "slightly used" strings in the past to try them out. Though I thought it a bargain at the time, I've since learned that other folks interpretation of the word 'slightly' is different to mine.
 10.
SOLD THANKS....
Could you possibly mark the title of the thread to include the word "Sold" then, please? To do this, edit your post on a computer and select to use the "Full Editor" Many thanks
 11.
Personally, I'd have a think about what the agreements were that had been made as to the production work so that the artist doesn't just get to walk off with all your hard work. Did you have anything written down? Are you the equivalent of "work for hire" - i.e. you get paid and they get the work, nothing else? Are you a creative partner with some/any rights in the work? I think quit and move on is the right advice, being replaced as the bassist sucks, but don't get walked over with regards to the production work in the whole "leaving the band" process.
This ^ With that lot you're always going to be walking a tight-rope and begging to keep the gig going. They don't appreciate you or give you your full value. You're better than that. You can do better.

 13. Not daft the shaking won't exactly "help" the amp and it could walk its way off of the cab. Besides, hearing that rattle behind you all the time would drive you mad
 14.
A band leader told me once, "You can always find someone better. The trick is knowing when to stop looking." What can I say? Welcome to the real world! The next band will be better.
When John Lennon was asked if he considered Ringo the best drummer in the world. His response was "He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles!" But they still kept him.
 15.
No return offered so maybe they assumed I did the mess.... Have nothing to do and drill holes to screw up my intonation(?) Anyway, I`ll fix it and pay on my own but Thomann is no more good shop for me - Thanks for all responses! Cheers, Tomas
Their response sounds to me like they think you moved the bridge. Certainly what you've found sounds odd. I wouldn't blame Thomman. They're only guilty of jumping to conclusions. If you want anything more from them, why not send them pictures of the holes with the paint in them?
 16. The problem here is Thomman will now be thinking that YOU moved the bridge. You shouldn't have told them.
 17. Sounds to me like someone else bought it, moved the bridge, changed their mind and used the distance selling rules to simply send it back. Shame you didn't do the same - simply send it back saying "Sorry, not for me". I can't see how a manufacturer would put the bridge in one place, then move it. After all, in the factory they'll have a jig that sets all bridges in the same place.
Thanks, yes I know, but bass is wonderful and light do not want to return it. My point is: I can fix it on my own as have skills but why shall I pay for someone`s FAULT??????
Don't. Simply send it back saying "it's not for me. Have it back" Then buy another and THEN see if you want to do something.
 18. Do you feel like you want to hang around and just do the production stuff, or do you want to play bass? It sounds to me like you may have been so busy on the production that you, possibly, didn't have the time to work on your thinking through your own bass part. Then, in walks some other guy. He's had no production stuff to do. He's only been thinking of the bass parts and how he can enhance it and show his metal... and they're smitten with the creativity. If it were me I'd drop them. Besides, if they'll drop you that easy, how long before they find yet another bass player and spit the next one out? Keep your dignity, enjoy the experience you got and move on I say.
 19.
Glad to hear he's on good form now after ripping so many basschat member's (myself included) off!
It seems the answer is to go round and see him. Which is all well and good if you're in the Tyneside area.
 20.
I received a message on Sunday from an advert I put in the wanted section. I received an email today that seems to be a scam. Has this happened to anyone else on here? I had my doubts on the day as it was a new member signed up on Sunday.
I have a Warwick I might sell. Its a 5er, but not a Streamer. There is a Streamer 5 for sale in the Marketplace, but it's fretless. WRT the scammer, you could PM a Mod with the person's ID and they can check if this person has a 2nd ID - in case you've upset someone. (Unlikely as you've not been here long yourself)
 21.
I saw him last week. He sorted out the wiring on my new Geddy Lee Jazz bass and made it a lovely tort plate He was definitely on good form
That's great news!! You've made my day. Thanks for posting
 22.
There is Howard the Bass Doc, a member on here and a true craftsman - http://basschat.co.u...5-the-bass-doc/ I also had a beautiful pearl plate made for my Matt freeman P by these guys http://www.northwest...ars.co.uk/bass/ and it was outstanding!!
I can endorse Howard's work. Alas, 'tis some time since we last heard from the good man. He was suffering ill health. We can only hope he's still with us.
 23. Looking good so far. And, if you're not happy with the result, you can always sell it to Graham Norton.
 24.
True. So what I intend is to increase the tension. My goal is to have less of this fretbuzz that you cannot hear in the mix, but you can feel in your fingers. It drives me crazy
Get your frets leveled and a good setup before spending time and loads of cash on a wild goose chase through string gaugesand makes of strings.
