If you do take it back, and I was the shop, I'd accept it through gritted teeth. If stuff like this bothers you, don't buy sight unseen...
This. Brighton to London is, a short distance to go when paying out £2k. Besides, the bass you return will also go out to another mail order customer. So, they may have another similar one for you on the 2nd try. Besides, isn't better grain selection what Fender have their customshop range for? If you buy from a mass-market budget manufacturer you get mass-market attention to detail. Also, be aware that for the pics Fender send of the bass to Web sellers, they may have sorted through dozens of average basses to find a stunning one. The seller in London may only have this one option available to send out.

Wood is a natural product and as such you have to accept that there's always a risk that it's going to have markings that might not be "ideal". You can certainly never be sure you'll get one with a totally bland, plain top. Yet, if it bothers you I'd send it back, if I were you, under the distance selling regulations (Thank you EU!!) If you're hoping for one without wood grain, then get a painted one. As for my personal taste. I'd object to the staining round the edge. The wood grain looks nice IMHO.

Rhythm = Rhythm Has Your Two Hands Moving. Other than that, to answer your question, can your listen to a piece of music and tap the beat? If you can, then you at least can hear the rhythm, so you have something to work on.

Nice thread. I'm interested in finding a nice 5 fretless. Right now my go-to is a Warwick Corvette 5 with a bubinga body I also have a Thumb. Out of the two I find the tone in the Corvette has less attack. So, the jury is out to decide which I keep. Both have Elixir strings, but those on the Thumb are older. Both are no light-weight though.

Accurate James Jamerson tabs any help please
A few of the Motown/Jamerson books out there are musical notation only, so check Amazon reviews first if it has to be tab!
Learn to read? It's easier than reading Tab when you get past the initial learning curve. Try watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X7qgBVnMfY -
I always thought BUMP stood for "bring up my post"...happy to be wrong though..
You're probably correct.
Sorry!!! Another little bump. Come on, this would easily fit under the chirstmas tree!
More to the point, this would be amazing to have as a lounge/bedroom rig. Not only would it fit under a chair, sideboard ect but it sounds simply amazing for the size that it is. I tried one when I visited another BCER. I loved it.

Imho Most of the folk in the audience don't understand the bass. The funny thing is they dance to the bass all night, but think it's the guitar that is producing the sounds.
Robbie Williams an icon? Don't make me laugh. Just because he's sold 19m albums in the UK and another 57m worldwide and had 7 UK #1 singles and 31 UK top ten singles and 12 UK #1 albums and 17 Brit awards doesn't make him an icon. Just the most chart-topping British solo artist ever which is completely meaningless out of context. Performer? Not even on the same planet as Richard Jobson out of The Skids which was the first band I saw back in 1978. And he doesn't even write his own songs unlike Elton John and - er - Bernie Taupin. If Robbie Williams got up and sang at one of my band's monthly gigs at the Frog and F*ckwit I bet no one would even notice. What a loser. .
Exactly. It's all about sales and who's career the record companies want to wring another bestseller out of.
I wouldn't get your hopes up guys - its vinyl and old (live instruments) coming back for their last gasp for going under finally. The turntables will all be in the loft again by March
You are, of course, correct. The only question is"which March, 2017 or 2018?"
Could be back on, could be a false alarm! (Ie might just have been a trick of the light and wood grain....... and my own paranoia!)
Phew! So there is a God in heaven! Maybe it's worth removing the nut to take a look. I'm sure it can't be unrepairable anyway by the sounds of it. But it makes your blood run cold doesn't it ? -
£25 might seem a bit expensive now, but weren't vynal albums about £14-20 back in the 70's and 80s? CDS were £14 when they first came out. It's only in recent times that prices dropped. It just seems expensive now as we've got used to low prices for recordings.

Vintage p bass electrical problem.
Grangur replied to jonnythenotes's topic in Repairs and Technical
I had the same on one of my vintage P basses, almost identical to the symptoms you have described. I replaced the output socket, figuring that even if it were to affect resale value, I would rather have a playable instrument. I also eventually replaced the volume pot. Switch cleaner would help for a while but the problem would return. I kept the original parts and passed them on when I sold the bass. I sold the bass, for the price I wanted, so never regretted carry out those essential repairs.
Its a simple fact of life that electric instruments will never live to any kind of old age with the original components. They don't have the longevity of a classical instrument. I've even got a friend, as classical guitarist, who says a classical guitar has a useful life of only 10 years. -

Sounds like you need someone to trace through the whole circuit and re-solder all the connections. Something is loose or poorly connected. I'd be happy to take a look, but where are you? -
Just a bit of fun. Feel free to change the caption.
I consider both options. I may not like the bridge so may want to avoid filling the holes.
Fix it with 3 screws only until you know. That way you'll probably be using the same centre hole and only need to drill the 2 outside ones.
