1.
I wasn't planning on purchasing another bass at the moment as I've already recently purchased another bass namely a Sire Marcus Miller V7 so was just going to move the jazz bass on as I already have a few other bass guitars. But I feel a bit cheeky asking for a full refund as at the time I was looking to buy a jazz bass & I do have a good relationship with PMT. But then on the other hand I'll have a store credit but don't want to go & spend on something else that I don't really need at the moment but feel I should respect there decision of a store credit as I've had this bass since March 2016.
I disagree about having to accept a credit note. It's not as genuine as they claimed - that comes under the Sale of Goods Act. It is not that you have "changed you mind". Being blunt - they ripped you off. The fact they were fooled by the PXer is NOT your problem. They're professional traders, it's their responsibility to know what they're selling. If you're selling, then it's "buyer beware". But when a pro sells it's down to them to be right and proper about their trading practices. If you do accept their Credit-note, make sure the credit note is open-ended and this is written on there and signed - don't accept one with an expiry date. Otherwise you could find in 6 months that the loyalty you show them isn't a 2-way thing. 3.
To an extent, so do I .............BUT, They can take the hit a bit more than a private individual. They will have gained kudos for their actions.
Totally agree. I'd feel more regret for the OP if they hadn't done the right thing.
 4.
A BIG WELL DONE TO PMT!!!! I say this because it is unlikely they have the depth of experience (especially on bass) that can be found here. Nobody there may have even considered it wasn't what the part ex'er told them it was. Possibly the part ex'er didn't even know. They did the right thing. Excellent result Mal, really pleased for you .
I feel for PMT. They won't have the recourse to go back to the PXer and get their money back. He was probably laughing all the way home.
 5.
Hi everyone just thought I'd let you know that I've been back to pmt & they are happy for me to return the bass to them & give me a full store credit up to the value of what i paid for the bass due to it not being what it was stated as I.e. classic reissue at the time of purchase & I'd like to personally thank you for all your help with this I really appreciate it Now my only problem is what do I buy with the store credit or do you think I should ask for a full refund
Get a full refund - cash is king. That leaves you free to shop around and buy what you want from where-ever you find the deal. Not wanting to rub salt into the wound but the decal could be a waterslide. 1 - The background of the decal is milky. This is classic when the person applying it has rushed the job. 2 - MIM Fenders have a decal that goes over the whole headstock. As you can see in the pic below. Doing it this way means that in a factory they don't have the hassle of trying to get rid of the ridge at the edge of the decal. Good luck in finding a good, real Fender. It's a shame really, it looks a nice bass.
 6.
Can't Fender US start making more inventive shades? That looks awesome!
Sacrilege! "Leo got is right" How can you ever imply otherwise!?!?! I totally agree BTW. How can anyone ever get excited about sea-foam green or 3/2 tone sunburst ? ( Dives for cover!! )
 7. I would expect this has to be about the set up. Your profile doesn't tell us where you're based, but maybe another BCer can take a look at it. Or take it for a pro set up. There is a thread that has a list of BCers happy to look at basses and their set up.
 8. Assuming everything else about the bass is ideal for you, I'm with Bert. If you takeover back, the retailer won't have an identical bass to give you, so you'll have to wait for it to go back and be assessed and all that... Lift the lid and check it out.
 9. Just bought a Yamaha bass from Geoff. He was a pleasure to deal with. It was well packed an honestly described. Thanks Geoff
 10.
Many thanks fpr your comment, but I can not change the tiltle, need to make a new one! For you allso a wonderful weekend! And by the way: I am blond and Dutch so what does bump to the thread means????
You can edit the title. Go into Edit the first post and at the bottom of the editor frame and sellect "Use Full Editor". That will allow you to edit the title. It's ok, we have no problem with blonde, Dutch ladies here. You're more than welcome. Bump is a phrase for "Back Up, .... eerrr... I don't know. But it means it pushes your thread back to the top of the pile again. A great guy round here for this kind of thing is Jon - otherwise known as BassAssassin. He's a real historian, especially with all things Japanese. If you hear nothing more, then a private message to him could be a good idea. Welcome to Basschat.
 11. Hi Jeannette, Sorry to hear about your husband. It looks a nice bass. I can't help, but may I suggest you change the title of the thread to something like "Help identify this bass?". That way you might get more comments. In the meantime, have a great weekend and have a bump to the thread.
 12. On a Bronco you might be ok as the tuner heads have a large spigot. If you have small tuners there's no way you'll be able to get the E string round the spigot.
 13.
What do you mean? I dont quite get it (English is not my first language) - did I offend you?
A little. But don't worry.
 14.
Any opinions on using toothpaste on chromes?
Do tell.
 15.
Yeah, what's wrong with people?! They should keep the bass clean the way I do!
Sorry I spoke
 16.
I have also found that information but at the same time someone pointed out that high quality pots have graphite inside an that shouldn't be lubricated. How can I check if mine are graphite? I would assume Lakland is high quality...
Not sure if I've heard that before or not. If in doubt leave cleaning the pots until they start crackling. If they are graphite and start to crackle, then you have nothing to lose. I've got Warwick basses and always used cleaner and it's always been ok and cleaned out any dirt. I don't do it often though; only if they look in a mess, which is normally when I buy the bass.
 17.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xhIciQNZkds This is what I've found and I'm wondering if it will be enough for the frets to be smooth. I will do more research on YouTube as I think there should be more info than what I've found so far. Do I need to give the frets a certain profile? How not to fu*k it up kind of question I guess... For fretboard I have this nomad mix of oils that I got in a guitar shop.
I normally like JC's videos, but wire wool will speed up the wear of the frets. I don't agree with using any abrasion on the fingerboard going across the grain: you should always rub wood with the grain. AND he used spray polish!!
 18. If you're wanting to do a through job, you can also take off the pickguard and spray some contact cleaner spray into the back of the pots. ThE cleaner usually comes with a long tube. Poke that into any hole you can see in the pit case and give it a good spray and wind the pot back and forward.
 19. I would only use wire wool on the fretboard if it's looking seriously dirty and the fretsurrounding corroded, or if the wood between the frets is rough. When I said "damp cloth", I do mean damp, not wet. For conditioning the fretboard I'm not keen on lemon oil. I find it doesn't really do much. I prefer boiled linseed oil. Linseed oil is also cheaper.
 20. Man, I would love to have this, but simply can't do if right now. Have a bump for a real beautiful bass and a nice guy.
 21. Nice bass. I've got the fretless version. I'm really great fealty to it. This is at a really low price too. I paid a lot more for mine.
 22. Thank you Thepurpleblob, for starting this thread. I just checked out the BB King albums in the posts folks have posted, on YouTube. Once you start a BB King video on there it just keeps playing more of his great music. Some of the line ups he had were amazing too. You could do a lot worse than to do the same and sit there with your bass and play a simple bass line to it. I guess something that does matter in your situation is the dynamic of your band. What IS expected of you? Are you there as a rhythm keeper, or are you there as a lead? If you take BB King's bass player he's not there to play anything fancy. He's only job is to provide the background for BB to look good. So you can do this by keeping a simple 4/4 going with a 145 bass line. Have fun with it!!
 23. The knobs you refer to are the tone and volum? These will either have a screw in the side or they will simply pull off. If they have a screw, it will almost certainly have a hexagonal Allen key or a slot for a small flatblade screwdriver:loosen the screw and pull off. Then clean round with a damp cloth. Never ever, ever in your life, clean or polish a bass (or furniture or anything) with silicone spray polish. Mr Pledge is the work of Satan. It makes the surface greasy and sticky and makes any re-spraying later impossible, even if you sand off the surface. Clean the bridge and headstock by taking them apart and use metal polish. I use Solvol, but anything else like t-cut or brasso will do.
 24.
What an odd post. Hang on whilst I drop into every other manufacturer thread in the forum and recommend people go buy a Fender...
Well, Leo did get it right you know. Please excuse me while I change the bridge, pickup and shim the neck on mine...
