Hi, im looking at ordering a bass and looking at the possible combinations for neck and fretboard woods. i currently have a Dingwall with maple neck and maple fretboard but I love the feel of wenge necks and the more rounded sound they give. Iv also seen some really nice fretboards in birdseye maple so wanted to combine the two. So I wondered if anyone had experience with a bass with wenge neck and maple fretboard? iv not come across many and wondered if there was a reason for this and if the combination isn’t recommended. thanks for reading this. Rick

Hi All, just saw this really interesting thread on necks and wanted to ask if any one had experience with a wenge neck but maple fretboard? I love the feel of a wenge neck but the look of a birds eye maple fretboard and considering ordering a bass with this combination. just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. thanks

Thanks so much, a real shame that your not completely happy with it, but at least it doesn’t affect the playability. I think I’m definitely going to try and find one in person rather than risk ordering online.

Looks really lovely. Congratulations on the purchase. If you don’t mind me asking what are the QC issues? I was going to buy one online but I think I’d be best finding one in person

£1,189 isn’t bad but I think If I take the plunge on an Ibanez headless it will still be the EHB 1505MS
-
I think I would still prefer the EHB model with the nordstrand pickups but I’ll be interested to see the prices of the BH models. think the finish on the EHBs still looks better too in the blue

I’v been looking at the Achilles multiscale bass too, looks awesome. The quote form on the website is really helpful but so much to choose from. Want to make sure I order the right spec for me. Has anyone got any experience with an Overload bass? Would be interested to hear any feedback

They seem to be selling well. Iv had my eye on the 1505MS and not been able to try one in person yet. I’d be interested to see if they do anything new with the range this year.

The price of getting both the photon and ADAM is getting to the point where I’d be considering getting a quad cortex instead
-
I’m still in love with the Dingwall/Darkglass sound and love my x ultra, but the photon has turned my head and could free up a bit of space on my pedal board. I’ll be interested to see if anymore come out in the ADAM format too.
-
I liked the look of the ADAM but it didn't capture me enough to change from my X-Ultra, but maybe this one will. Or I wonder whether they will do an X version of this in the future. I reckon around £500 like the ADAM.

I use an x ultra and always have the clean channel engaged. When trying that pedal out that was honestly thing the that stood out for me. The distortion channel is epic but actually the clean sound I got really blew me away too. Getting a range of tones is great to using the cab sim.

As an update Iv been trying to track an EHB 1505MS to buy. I lost out on an ex demo and then didn’t act fast enough and the last one at Andertons was sold. Iv seen a few online but really think I need to try one and they don’t appear to be restocked in a few places til at least next year.

Great review. Been trying to find one to try before buying but having a hard time tracking one down

Honestly I love fanned fret, bought a Dingwall a few years back and you get used to it really quickly. If I get an Ibanez I’ll definitely get the multi scale
-
I don’t know what that is but suddenly I want it

Awesome will be really interested to hear what you think
