Wow, thanks that's a massive help and iv think you've convinced me it's the pedal for me. All I need to do now is find one at a good price. Thanks again

Hi, I am looking for some new pedals to have fun with and the Earthquaker line, especially the Afterneath. Iv checked out some of the videos, but wanted to know if anyone had first hand experience using it? I I play loads of different styles, but also want some pedals just for home use, where I can get whacky sounds and have fun. If I can find some good settings for gigs more the better. If anyone also has any reverb recommendations, or pedals that would go well with the Afterneath that would be great, Thanks for reading, Cheers, Rick

Sorry guys, if I'd looked a bit harder there's a post further down about this http://basschat.co.uk/topic/287686-sansamp-para-driver-di-darkglass-b3k/page__pid__3087377#entry3087377

Thanks for the replies I use the sansamp at the end of my chain with both drive and presence on to beef up my sound, so when I play the pedal is always on. So I think I use it as a preamp then? I could see using another overdrive pedal to give a different driving sound. The sansamp and bk3 would both be on then.

Hi Everyone, I am slowly building up my board and trying to get a few different types of overdrive ad distortion for my bands songs. Currently I have tuner -> compressor -> octave -> darkglass duality distortion -> reverb -> chorus -> Tech 21 VT Sansamp. The distortion and sansamp work so well together and love the tone, but I have found would like another option for overdrive. Knowing how good darkglass are I have been looking at getting the bk3 and putting it between the octave and distortion pedals. I could then have just a the Sansamp or both the sansamp and bk3 tones for two awesome overdrive sounds. People have been great with advice before here and wanted to ask if this would be a good idea for two types of overdrive, while keeping the sansamp at the end of the chain for DI. This sounds good in my head, but does anyone have experience doing this? Will they work well together, or is this a waste of money and board space? Thanks for looking, Rick

Thanks for all the advice on this. Took the chance to try the fender rumble 40 and it sounded so good I got it. Really pleased with it.
Before you buy the Ampeg ba110 you might want to read the worst amps you've played through thread on talkbass. The Ampeg ba combo series did not do well at all!
Wow yeah, not a lot of love for the ba 115, but hopefully that doesnt apply to the 110 (long shot).

Thanks for all the suggestions, so far I think its a straight shot between the ampeg ba 110 and fender rumble 40. It might come down to ampeg based on price, but will see.

Thanks, my budget is no more than £200

Thanks for the reply. The fender sounds cool. Sorry just to clarify, I have my own effects, I just want a good practice amp that can handle them. Some one recommended the ampeg ba 108 or ba 110, anyone with experience on these?

Hi, Recently my 15W home amp went the way of the dinosaurs and am looking to replace it and wanted to ask for suggestions for a good practice amp that is suitable for using in a block of flats, but is also good enough for me to also test my effects out (I have had issues with my old amp giving clarity with octave and fuzz). I wanted to ask what wattage would be a good start for home practice, not sure it will ever make it out the flat and also recommendations, or suggestions of ones to look at, Thanks for looking, Cheers, Rick

Thanks so much for the advice guys, that really helps. The Mooer octave looks a nice option, and keeping the aguilar for a nice octave tone and changing my technique a bit.

Hi, I have been working on building a pedal board and have been using an Fender Jaguar -> Aguilar octamizer -> big muff -> VT Sansamp -> practise amp (full board below), but have been having problems with getting the best out of the octamizer. I am finding it really hard to get rid of tracking problems when using the octave pedal with sustained notes and playing two or more strings at the same time makes the signal break up and the octave pedal struggle with holding the chords. If anyone could help with this problem, whether it is altering my playing style or recommended settings on the pedals I would really appreciate it, I really want to get the best out of the pedal, Thanks, Rick
I would start off with compressor, muff, chorus, Sansamp, with the option of swapping around the last two, particularly if you are using the Sansamp as an overdrive and not sending its DI out to the desk. There are no solid rules so use what sounds best, but that is the order I would use!
Hi, Thanks so much for replying to this, I am learning a lot from hearing about peoples experience with effects. Just to ask, this means to you would start with the compressor from the bass and sansamp connected to the amp? Just from playing around with Comp, big muff, sansamp, chorus its sounds awesome. Its a bit noisy with chorus before sansamp and I get a heartbeat through the amp. Sound cool, but maybe not during a set. Thanks again, Rick

Hi All, I am new to effects pedals want to try and get the best bass sounds possible and understand how to use them all effectively. I have an ashdown compressor, sansamp bass driver, big muff and nano clone chorus, but wondered what order is best for these effects. The manual says the sansamo should go just after the bass itself, but I have also been recommended to put it after the amp and compressor in the chain. My current band play a royal blood, queens of the stone age, kyuss style so I like a bit of distortion and drive. Also from reading posts I have become a bit confused when people to refer to the beginning or end of the effects chain, does this refer to starting at the bass or starting at the amp. Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks for reading this, Rick

Hi Guys, I had a go on the Hall of fame pedal and was really impressed with it, especially when combined with a fuzz pedal. But I still havent found a soundblox to have a go on and dont want to make the call without trying one.
-
Hi Guys, Thanks so much for the advice, I love the range of the soundblox and I think thats the best as I am not sure how much I will use single effects. Hopefully the big muff coupled with the dimension reverb will do the ticket. The orbital modulator looks cool too so may look at combining these 3 pedals. The TC electronic ones look great too so may have to try them out before commiting to the soundblox. Thanks for opening up more options.

Hi Everyone, I have recently been getting into effects so that I can add more to my band. Some the intros I have been playing are mid to high range lines and I want some spacey sounds to add to recordings and for live shows. I currently have a big muff and compressor so want to add to this currently and was thinking of adding a flanger or a phaser and delay/reverb pedals to add to this to get some spacey sounds. Is this how I should go about it, or does anyone recommend any further options. Also if you have any recommendations for flanger, phaser or delay/reverb pedals? I came across this Soundbox Dimension reverb pedal and wondered if anyone had any experiences with one? http://www.rock-gear.de/en/Guitar/Effects/Delays-Echos-Reverb/Source-Audio-Soundblox-2-Dimension-Reverb.html?&cur=1 Thanks, Rick

Wow these guys have a great sound and songs. Just to ask a possibly silly question, are there any ways to recreate this sound on a budget? I know it wouldnt be a versatile, but are there any single pedals that could come close to this sound, just to play around with it?

Hi All, I am at the moment having a look out for a new bass to call my own and from online research I have come across the P-Nut artist series, which is in my price range. I just wanted to know if anyone had seen, played or has a review for this bass, as I havent really heard much about. As a warwick lover I have always dreamed of owning a P-nut 1, 2 or 3, but they are way out of my price range, but now this appears to be a cheap option. I own a Warwick jazzman fretless and have been considering a similar fretted version. Any thoughts? Cheers, Rick

Thanks so much for that info. Im gonna have a look at the Boss gt 6b as it seems to have more than the me50b and also has bypass. Is that the best option do you think at this stage?
-
thanks, if you want an idea of our sound, this is my band http://findafiend.co.uk/ I dont play on the album but I play on our new single and the videos that are up. If anyone has any suggestions for the effects pedals that have worked in this kind of setting it would be great to hear other peoples experiences. Cheers, Rick

Thanks guys this is great advice, With multi effects I do have a zoom (really old) but it has no true bypass, are there any cheap ones with true bypass so at loeast I can have a neutral sound if I dont like the effects?

Hi Everyone, I am new to the world of effects and just wondered if anyone has advice on using them. I have been playing for about 8 years and now am in a pretty serious band where the guitarists have just bought lots of nice gadgets and wonderful toys (not that thats affecting my choice in any way lol). The band is kind of alternative rock like A Perfect Circle/Incubus kind of thing. The only thing I use regularly is an ashdown commpressor which I have on most of the time as it sounds awesome, but I just wondered what other things are avaliable and what other people like to use live and what can be used in everyday settings to beef up sound and generally make songs more interesting? Looking forward to hearing what people recommend. Thanks, Rick
