You appear to working to a very tight budget, so you could use http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-String-Black-Bass-...5QQcmdZViewItem B10 bridge (with a bit of work....) and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wilkinson-black-bass...2QQcmdZViewItem Id got for No. 11 or 13. Shame. If you were any where near me I'm sure I could helpl puttting that together for you!

Mine was mintier than an unopened box of Matchmakers and was sent to me in its original Mesa shipping box..... I believe I was lucky..... It was from a a very pleasent chap on eBay who had ordered it (waited 10 months for it to arrive) kept and used it for recording for 6 months and then sold it to me because he was Moving out of his folks to buy his own flat...... Actaully the more I think about it I was really in the right place at the right time..... Cost him 1425 with the custom options...... Needless to say it has a very loving home now......... Hey Homer, happy birthday dude !!!!

I looked into one of these some time ago..... £140 seems OK from a dealer you could expect to pay £50 less private..... Heres a +ve review...... http://www.bgra.net/2004/review.php?id=1376&type=bass

Obscure Musical Backwaters - The Great SGC Nanyo Thread
The Burpster replied to Happy Jack's topic in Bass Guitars
Hi Hansabass and welcome to the forum. This is quite a popular design that a number of manufacturers have produced over the years under a variety of names. Much like P or J copies the quality varies hugely and you could get a bargain or a stinker! However the 'Bass Collection' name is licensed so there should only be one manufacturer using it at one given time.
AND-------- IIRC they are in production again after a break and with slightly new management..... ( I'm sure I read that recently.....) -

fabulous piece of history thats worth pinning so up you go ! -
Odub, I have a Walkabout 112 (12" driver) and cannot recommend it enough. I play mostly blues and Rock 'n Roll and its ****kin' awesome. The tone is absolutely on the money and it'll definately make your trousers flap...... Its not made of balsa wood, but weight for sound I believe it would take some beating.... (actually the cab doesn't weigh that much as the amp is a fair chunk) that being said if you have teh luxury of having cabs available at some of your venues, its only 4 screws to take the head out and the Mesa gig bag for the Walkabout head is spot on. You would them have the flexibilty of a seperate head and a cab good enough for small venues (Pubs- village halls). If your gonna lug it about a lot (head in teh cab) invest in a padded gig bag for it as the Mesa one is OK in a house but doesnt provide a lot of protection, also be careful how you put it down to protect that downward facing speaker. I bought mine without having played it first ( "You Muppet" I hear everyone shouting!) but I had played a Mesa head through a (Ashdown I think) cab so I knew it was 'my sound'..... I appreciate I'm not the most experinced on here and I dont yet play regular gigs..... but my ***itarist ( mentor and friend ) is and has been, and he firmly belives its the best bass amp he's heard for the money! In fact his jaw hit the floor when I told him how much I paid, as he thought it played way above its cost..... He even got excited playing his Strat through it!!! Service from the UK importers is a bit spasmodic, unless you ring them and get a definate answer from someone. I've had it 6 months now and I still grin everytime I plug in and turn the volume up....... You need to make your own decsion, but I wouldnt have anything else now......
-
Nooo, I noo taka da peez..... Get one try it..... if you like it, get a paint job.... if you dont, encourage your daughter or niece to play and you have next birthday and xmas sorted! (or sell it on ebay !) They sound superb once they are plugged in.....
-
Not tried using the open mic (yet) so cant comment...... Muppet...... It has a mid section cut, ( I guess aimed mostly at ***itarists, but its pretty horrid.....). You can adapt the mix by boosting the line input so your bass is lots loader than the orginal track (which is what I do for practice) especially if you have an active out put... And yes you can import anyting in MP3 format ---- Wont handle MP4 or AIFF tho' B
i don't care what anyone else says, THAT'S NOT A BLOODY BASS!!!
You ask any ***tarist to play over a 24.5" scale and they'll go off in a sulk..... This puppy is 30.5.... I like it, and its ER.... bonus...

Check this puppy out......! Yuuuuummmmmeeeeee! Anyone had experience of playing with Bose L1 or L2's
The Burpster replied to walbassuk's topic in Amps and Cabs
I like you saw this kit at sound control and was interested as you are... I too thought "that sounds nice" when they a played CD thru' it and even when they played a bit of keyboard..... So I said, "Ummm I like that, can I try playing that Highway One P bass thru it please?" They said " Aaahhh no, I'm afraid its not set up for basses " I said " Oh thats OK then, I'll stick with my Mesa " I just got glum, "oh bugger" looks from the bemused staff..... As much as I like Bose hi-fi stuff, the fact they wouldn't let me try it kinda speaks volumes to me...... -
I've handled one Marelux (Consat4) in a shop (wasnt allowed plug it in and play it..... Boring farts!), It felt very well built, in that Germanic kinda way that only Warwick, Clover and these can..... If you like it that much and you can afford it, I dont think you'll be dissapointed.......
Some people just dont like them because they are typically Fender (i.e. just plain harder to play...ask most guitarists whats easier Strats or Les Pauls) and sadly there are just some...some....who are weak limp pansies who's heaven is a tonefree pencilnecked bad active cheapy Ibanez from the late 90s.
Brilliant, just brilliant, I'm still laughing now......
