The snare seems a little too intrusive in the mix for me, otherwise I like it - I do like antistar great track!. -

colour - disgusting! bridge - looks cheap! Other than that it looks superb! If it was natural finish with a Hipshot bridge (and blk hardware) I'd probably be dribbling on my keypad! -
I have an American Deluxe Jazz Bass V from ca. 1999 (5-in-a-row headstock) which has active electronics. 1. Am I right in thinking that the pickups are passive, and only the EQ is actually active? That's what I understand from the little information I could find. 2. If that is the case, am I right in thinking that I could swap the pickups for any other passive 5-string Jazz pickups? The new Aguilar AG 5J-60 pickups look pretty cool, and I was wondering if perhaps that would be a good choice. 3. On a related note (assuming I'm right about the above), has anyone attempted using a push-pull volume pot to disable the EQ? Don't get me wrong, I think it sounds ace, but I just thought it would be nice occasionally to be in completely passive mode. (And I do understand that I would then have no tone knobs. That's OK.) - martin
So here goes..... 1. Yes 2. Yes, and the Aggies look good as would Barts SDs and probably Schallers 3. Yes the Bart in my EB IV has a push/pull on/off pre-amp switch and it is pretty cool (although TBF not used that often!)
aye and that's fair enough, I have checked most sites and seen that it wouldn't break down the output on 8 ohmes, 4ohmes etc..... What I'm mainly saying, is that a heads up on the requirement of an extention cab would help alot and possibly reduce my 'homework' time and leaving me more time to look through more suitable ads.
Mesa do - But in fairness they only put heads that are available seperately in thier combos so, a but unusual.
The best bass money can by? Whatever you personally like.
I agree, I could've easily spent more than I have - however Mr Smiths basses are outstanding.
No, I can't see the connection. No similarities at all.
They even went to pains to get the backdrop similar.....

I would hope you are aware but for those that weren't - the Shania vid is a pastiche of this Robert Palmer Vid from the 80's........

I'm hoping my one off HG Thor Fretless neck on one of my EB IVs is the best ever fretless, however its been (and still is) a long old expensive haul to get there.

mine is not TOO absured but it would be if I had to replace them..........
I've had all sorts of basses over the years. My first 'boutique' bass was an Alembic 20th Anniversary, which I bought in 1989. I sold that and had a Tobias Classic 5, which I used for about 15 years solid. During that time I went through phases of wondering if I'd overdone it and that a cheaper bass would be just as good. They weren't, and I wasted good money in trying to convince myself. You will appreciate the top notch sound, build and quality, and your playing will improve as a result. A friend has recently bought a Roscoe and discovered exactly that.
Absolutely spot on. I guess I am no way accomplised enough as a musician to own what I do, but I LOVE owning them, I really get a buzz out if picking them up and playing them. Often I miss playing them (not enough time) but I never get bored of picking any of them up to noodle. That is of course if you include PRS basses in your 'boutique' catagory.?

Deano, welcome to BC! You're right, the B4 is a cool bass and there are plenty of Cort users on here! Being offered twice what you paid for it is quite unusual tho.....
I guess you'd better switch to something else then. Golf perhaps?
There's plenty of time for golf AND bass....... I seem to manage OK!

I guess something could / may be amiss here.... My batts last for ages in the PRSs but they do sound better for about 2 weeks straight after new batts are put in. That new Peak of fresh batts definatell gives the pre-amp a boost.

Schnoz, if you were a bit nearer I would loan you my Baritone (tuned down to A) to give you an idea what you might have as a crossover...... I pick it up and try to play it when I feel like I'd like to tw4t about with a 6 string for a while and it quickly sorts me out!!!!!

My brother drove over my brand new L2000. Help!!!
The Burpster replied to mashup's topic in Bass Guitars
My thoughts are that as the neck hasnt gone pop, that the strings were crushed. IME srtings start to do odd things when they have considerable flatspots on them, (form an intonation point of view) especially roundwounds...! I would be pretty confident stating that the neck hasnt bent as the pressure wasnt applied for long enough, although it is possible it may have bet the trussrod , however you would have noticed the action would had changed considerably..... I hope its nowt serious, and keep us updated please. Must have been a week for that kind of incident as my mates nephew ran over my golf clubs and bag in the cart that he was drving for his grandad. None of my clubs appear bent, but in fairness they were never in tune in the first place so they play better with the intonation all ove rthe shop... -
I have cleaned this thread up and removed all the irrelevant posts and editted some other bits...... Keep this one on track please - due to the sensitive nature of this sale and the fact that relatives maybe be viewing this, please behave. Si has contacted the seller and lets see how that develops. I think I understand that tone you're after. My suggestion would be the Ibanez. Mainly because its fitted with Barts which will produce that tone when used with flat wounds. To help that tone along you should really use a amp with with a valve pre-amp stage, or a valve (I guess you call them tubes over there ) pre-amp pedal, but you may have this covered. That's not a million miles away from the set up I have, the tone I use is a 'wound back' version of what you seek.

Tried lots and settled with D'addario chromes 105s they just work and sound better as they age.
