I've fallen hard for the Acg filter preamp I tried out at the bass show in London, so I've decided to sell my East U-Retro preamp. I paid £200 for it last year, and it's in as new condition. I think on the website it's listed as the 01 Retro. It's fitted to my Prosebass at the moment. If there is serious interest, I'll post some pictures, but it's the same as in the East website I'd like £90 for it, delivered (but without the knobs)

Tried some wonderful basses at the London Show, but none better than the Acg's. I was blown away by the filter preamp. I've already decided to order a bass from Alan, but I want to put one of his preamps in an existing bass. What I would like to know is how well it works with different pickups (not ACG). Any input from all you wise ACG users would be much appreciated.

My new Wishbass arrived this morning having been thrown across the Atlantic. Half of the headstock has snapped off, and there is the beginning of a split in the neck laminate. I plan to glue and screw the headstock back together. Just wondering if anybody has any advice on this subject? What glue to use, how long to leave it etc. All input gratefully received!

Sold a Precision to Pete. He was very quick with payment, good with communication, and helped me with finding how to leave feedback here on the site. I'd be very happy to deal with him again.

I've been reading posts over your shoulder for a year or more, so I thought I should do the decent thing and introduce myself. I am a very middle-aged man in South Cumbria, and my midlife crisis seems to be the bass! It's cheaper than sports cars, and I never was one for hairy chests and medallions, so it's manageable. I've played in a couple of bands, but it's mostly bedroom noodling. My particular love is the fretless, and coming to grips with that will probably keep me busy for several decades yet! Thanks to all you BCers; you're very generous with info and tips, all very helpful to me. I'll try to add my two pennorth where I can. Cheers.

Just wanted to add my 2 pennyworth. Both Ebay amd Basschat sales are essentially based on trust, so when someone is untrustworthy, it really grates. But short of finding where the guy lives, going there, and demanding money, what can you do. It's happened to me a time or two, and after your initial anger has subsided a bit, the only healthy thing to do is to put it down to experience, and move on. Don't let him rob your peace of mind.

I bought this on Ebay a while ago, but i can't get on with the neck profile- it's just a shade too shallow and narrow for my comfort. It plays very nicely, strung with new Overwater flats, and it has been equipped with an Acoustic Ghost piezo pickup. The mid knob for the magnetic pickups has been replaced with the control knob for the piezo, which is a push/pull switch (light/dark) as well as volume. The ebayer I got it from had bought it as a fretted version, and he fitted a Mighty Mite ebonol fretless neck. He's also marked the fret positons inbetween the dot markers, and done a nice job. So all in all, this is a very playable fretless Precision, with it's own Fender gigbag. The only negative is very slight crackling on the pickup selector knob. I'm only after what I paid for it- £205 posted. I'm fairly new to posting here, but I've been reading and lurking for quite a while, and my ebay feedback is good (dapper-danman, 800+ positive). Sorry about the sideways pics! Thanks for reading.

I bought this beauty from a fellow Basschatter some months ago, and it has almost been the perfect bass for me, apart from one problem I can't get over. I have some RSI problems in my left arm from work, and the smaller (than usual) top horn puts the top end of the neck well away from me. My hand falls naturally to about the 12th fret, and more than about 20 mins of playing up the top end really hurts me! I've stuck with it for ages, because the bass is so gorgeous in every way, but I've had to admit defeat. You probably all know how good these basses are, so I won't go on and on, but I'll happily answer any questions. It's strung with very recent Thomastik flats, and they sound ACE! It comes with a nice strap, and straplocks, and it's own hard case. I'm only after what I paid for it- £285 posted, which is good value for such a quality instrument. I will be putting it on Ebay next week, but I'd much rather it go to one of you guys. I'm fairly new to posting, but I've been lurking on the forum for a while, and my ebay feedback is very good (dapper-danman, 800+ positive feedback). Thanks Mr Foxen, that's very helpful. It says an additional £60 should do it, which doesn't sound too bad (apart from the 'handling' fee). Think I'll bid on the lovely persimmon Hipper now on Ebay.

Can you tell me how much it costs to bring a Wishbass to this country? I love the look and ethos of these basses, but I've heard that customs charges are really steep. Thanks, Sean
The Mexican Fender Classic 50s Precision, and the more expensive Fender 57 Reissue are on the fat side.
Thanks everybody. I live in South Cumbria, so opportunities are limited, but maybe a trip to Bass Direct might be in order. Appreciate the input.

Hi there. I've been on the forum a while, but new to posting, so bear with me if I get anything wrong. I wanted to pick your brains on the subject of neck size (bass, not mine). I have owned a few basses, and tried a few more, but I don't have opportunity to try a great variety of different basses. I wanted to know which brands are known for having thick necks. I have a Retrovibe Musicman copy with a nice thick neck that I love, and I would like to maybe upgrade in the future. I find Jazz basses too thin for my fingers (depth, not width). If anybody has any pointers for me, I would be most grateful. Thanks!

Hi there. I've just got a fantastic Westone Thunder III fretless from a fellow Basschatter. The active preamp is on one knob ( bass boost one way, treble boost the other). I was wondering if I could rewire onto a double pot, and so be able to boost bass and treble at the same time. If that makes any sense, and any body can help, I would much appreciate it. Thanks!

LIGHTWAVE SABER SL FRETLESS BASS FOR SALE - RARE AND UNIQUE
Sambrook replied to Eboclive's topic in Basses For Sale
Okay, I certainly don't think this is overpriced, especially after asking advice on it and it's condition. This is a lovely bass (check out some of the comments above), but I need to recover some finances. I am willing to drop a little on the price. Make me a (serious) offer.
Hi there, if the bass is still for sale, I would be very interested. I can't come and see it, but everybody's comments back up what I know about these basses. Could you PM me for talking turkey about price? Thanks, Sean -
