It's part of the same law in physics that determines you can only ever insert a USB product after flipping it over a minimum of three times.

Bass players who take their hand off the neck
Marky L replied to PaulWarning's topic in General Discussion
I do as and when. To either shake out my cramping fingers, wipe my sweaty hand on my @rse or possibly to flip the bird at a lucky punter 😋 -
Much obliged, will message him shortly

Thanks for the link, I've had a look and realised that this is going to be a costly operation, but I do want it to be right. Still, maybe if I do have a go myself I could video it and the ensuing comedic mess could become a viral hit!

Thanks I will check out the YT channel. It could be the start of learning a new skill!

Hi all! I'm in the process of putting a bitsa fretless P bass together (nearly have everything now) and I really could do with some recommendations of who/where it could get it painted. I particularly want either a strong glitter or maybe a flake finish, just a single base colour. I struggle even working out which end of a paintbrush is which so it's not a job I can do! I'm in Bournemouth so south coast would be great but shipping isn't an issue. I'm more than happy to put it all together after so it's just paint really. Ta muchly Mark

Have just bought the golden glitter bomb AKA the Italia Maranello from Mart and it was one of the easiest and smoothest transactions ever! Great to deal with and good clear comms, Wholeheartedly recommended Cheers!
If you have back problems you should stay away from 410's, but I'd also suggest if you're going for a 2 210 rig you should look at better cabs. There are 2 AE210's in the classifieds which will blow most 210's into the weeds. They weigh 40lbs each and as a pair will be loud enough for any band, (I used mine in an ear piercing Led Zep tribute band and owned the half stack guitarist) and they'll give you the best tone you or you're band have heard.
I am very happy with my tone, which makes me question why change, but then isn't that something we all tend to do? Always searching for that holy grail.. even if you already have it in your hand. I have had many positive comments about my tone, I lean towards bright with some added extra grit from my Sansamp.
The chances of JJ knowing or caring about a 1x15 being a weak link is slim to none. Back when he started playing, he, like many others would have been lead to believe that you need the 4x10 for mids & the 1x15 for low end. The rig in the pic is mostly for visual purposes. Anytime I've added a 4x10 to my 2x10, I've had little to be gained compared to adding another 2x10. I'd heed Bill's advice.
Yeah, but you would have thought his tech would ensure things were right. Then again, if you are endorsed by an a manufacture, you just get some more to play about with I suppose. Certainly agree with another 2x10, that's likely the direction I'll take. I also have to take my feeble weak back in to consideration!
-
Thanks guys, still toying with the idea. When you look at JJ Burnel's rig, he has a twin set of a 4x10 sat on a 1x15, one would imagine that the 15" would be the weak link in the chain, but he's run that set up for quite some time.
-
Interesting. I have been toying with doing the same thing. I currently run an Ashdown 500w head into a 2x10 cab and a 1x15 cab, both rated at 8ohms. The 15 has a suggested max of 350W and the 2x10 about 600W IIRC. Anyway I fancy adding a 4x10 8ohm to the 2X10. Both would have plenty of W headroom, I'd be loading the amp to 4 ohms in total so I can't see what probs I would have.

1970 Precision, genuine? What d'ya think?
Marky L replied to Marky L's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yes, comms aren't his good point, pity really. IMHO, after seeing some other similar aged P's at inflated shop prices, it seems to be a fair price if it is all straight and genuine. I appreciate your replys -
Hey all! I'd appreciate any viewson the 1970 Precision up for auction here - http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 I've sort of been sniffing about for something like this and it's tweaked my interest!! Marky L replied to Marky L's topic in Accessories and Misc
I'm pretty sure this is the case...
Yeah, it's what I seem to be coming up with. The "PRECISION BASS" bit just doesn't fit and I think was left off. The later '76 in early 80's(?) version of the logo which is a bit smaller does seem to fit as I have found pics of those. -
And another question! (Is this the right forum for this one?) Anyone have a reasonable pic of a lefty Precision headstock with that big ol' TV logo, late 60's to '76 I think. I have searched Google and keep coming up with the same ones which I'm not sure are correct. I'm begining to think that the Precision only had the Fender logo, where has the Jazz had both Fender and Jazz Bass on it. I'm cobbling together a bass at the mo and want a custom logo decal made but want to get it at least resembling and positioned close to what the real article looked like. Much obliged

Thanks chaps, I'll investigate further!

Ok, so my research shows either one by Pickguardian or a version supplied by Pick Of The RIcks. Does any one have any experience with either of these Rickenbacker treble pup bezel chappies and can give me their views? Thanks
