1. I know a guy who does some really good quality stuff. He recently did one for Steve Conte (now ex-New York Dolls) for his solo tour. Also The Jim Jones Revue - If you're interested I shoot you his email. Nice bloke, he's based in Salford.
2. Touch of the hopefull with that price?
3. Hey Chris Why does the pickguard not quite fit? If you happen to want to shift it I'd probs take off your hands, I'm after a slightly scruffy (ahem) one of that style. Just in case you do have a buyer for the bass and they don't want the the PG that is Oh and the whole thing does look damn gorgeous
4. *** NOW SOLD *** Many thanks I have a 4 string set of unused Elixir roundwound Nanoweb, heavy guage, long scale string up for sale. Guage - 50 70 85 105 These are long scale and I got them for a Precision. The box is battered as they have been sat in a pocket in my gig bag for well over a year as spares, but after using another set I really don't think I'm ever going to use these, just not quite my thing. The strings are unused and in perfect condition. I'm looking for £25 inc shipping to UK and inc Paypal costs too. Fair deal?? Cheers Mark
5. Many thanks to John, he bust me a cap in the post!! Arrived today and will be fitted soon. Am going to grab a P wiring harness from you too at some point. Cheers Mark
6. Well, William Mysterious used to play bass with The Rezillos, so maybe he set the trend? Quite a swift player too, another influence in me taking up bass.
7.
Nick has some Russian paper in oil jobs that will sort you out, if they haven't all sold already.
For the P? I'll have a look through the for sale section. Thanks
8. Could someone give me the ratings for the replacement orange drop cap for a Fender P please? To give it that vintage feel. Is it a Sprague manufactured unit? This leads nicely to, where can I find a single Sprague Bumblebee 0.022uf/400V cap to go in a copy LP Junior I trying to beef up a bit? Not being really up on passive components, I'm not sure of a reliable, sensibly price source forn these so any info gratefully received as ever!
9. Looks OK to me. My standard 2000 model is similar, black PUPs and tuners, though with the standard white pickguard. The paint is very slightly translucent and you can just see the wood grain if you catch the light right.
10.
Guy from Ashdown has also been in touch regarding the issue and he'll get back to me with the results. I still want to know why it went pop!
Keep us up to date with what they find please.
11. There 99.99999999999% of the time always a bass line in there somewhere, not necessarily played on a bass, but there will be a bass thang going on. I don't think you can say that about any other instrument (or instrument sound) in popular recording.
12. Simple but thundering - Love Song : The Damned And what a bastard of a tone!
13.
Moved from my mag 300 210t + mag 115 to the Klystron 500 head and 210 + 115 neo cabs. Took advantage of the Andertons deal - I had fancied the evo3 for a while and was actually in the process of purchasing when I saw the deal for £999. I've sold tons of stuff recently (pedals a barely use etc and the mag cabs) and self funded it! Love the retro head look.
Love to hear your thoughts and how you get on with your new rig. I have exactly the same and thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not tied up about how I sound as long as I have bite and a thump on stage and that's what I get. It's rock n roll ain't it!!
14. Forum rules state you gotta include a price on a for sale item..
15. Do they all wear Doc Martin's or something?
16.
I sold each of mine for £25 IIRC. I wouldn't get one from the USA - you will at least have to pay a handling fee to Parcelfarce which IIRC will be about a tenner, then you might get stung for VAT too. It's only really worth importing more valuable stuff from the states.
Aye, that's a good point. Just wanted to get an idea to see if it was worth doing. I'll keep my eyes open on here
17. Well I may be able to get a crazy deal on one from the States but I need an idea on shipping cost (ergo weight requirement) to ascertain if it's worth doing. Used here they seem to be around £35 ish?
18. Just trying to find out what the weight of the EHX Bassballs unit is. Anyone have any idea? (I emailed EH but no response yet).
19. So is Craigslist UK going to be the new laundering site for musical instruments of dubious heritage? And who is George Gruhn? I've seen him quoted in a couple of sales on there so far? http://london.craigslist.co.uk/msg/2316222372.html
20. This and the various other basses of dubious heritage and authenticity he keeps lobbing on eBay.
21.
Sorry OP, here come the language police: it's the opposite of a dearth! But I agree they are certainly tasty. I was sorely tempted by that fretless.
Oooh hot damn you're correct! What on earth possesed me? What with being a terrible pedant n'all!! Let's change that to a glut of natural P basses!!
22. Nice starting price, and I guess the collect only option will limit it's sales opportunity. Wish I was in Arbroath, I'd like to have a look if it stayed cheap n durty!
23. I must admit, I am starting to feel the love for that nekkid wood look
