Many, many, many. I do loathe Layla (as already mention above), it just goes on and on. And also in the same vein, Hotel California. The end is on continual repeat to the point I imagine the studio crew there whilst recording it were close to topping themselves after the 2nd listen through.

Wow! Thank you.

Ooh! Post a pic please 🙂

So sorry to read your news Ray. I would totally recommend making Basschat your first port of call for selling. It's a fantastically supportive community of like minded people. A much better experience than the wild west that is eBay and FB Marketplace. Very best wishes.

How guitarists check Gibson necks.....

One of my all time favourites! The dog getting involved, his slippers, the nice shirt for the video, the crappy trousers that weren't expected to be seen, his wife trying to help, how long he stays under the piano, the Brian May photo.. 🤣 There is a little more where he yells at the dog "you either in or out!". I did a very poor remix of it to a techno backing track 😉 -
Oh what terrible news. So very sad. RIP

Thinking about band merch...any tips please

Do you know what the print medium was? I have used Streetshirts.co.uk in the past and found the print quality good. Very like screen printed ink, probably direct-to-garment. The online "design" app is a bit pants though. They often run deals like free delivery. Oh printing on the rear of the shirt is a simple option with them too. I did a simple design for the band to have a shirt each and one of our fav punters and used tshirtstudio it seems more like a transfer print which I don't like but the quality is fine. Both the above are reasonably cheap and do quantity discounts. -
Which companies are dead to you?

Shrinkflation as they call it. It's very noticeable in a wide and varied selection of food products. -

Having worked at Vodafone UK HQ in Newbury a good few years back, I can fully believe that. At that time there were a number of billing platforms with all sorts of weird and wonderful tariffs on them. These billing platforms were not compatible with each other. The Consumer and the Business departments didn't work together. There were a number of special tariffs for bulk buying resellers (virtual networks) like Tesco Mobile and the like. These pricings actually undercut the Business prices and caused endless issues. Oh and of course Vodafone Global HQ was in the same complex in Newbury. Lots of infighting and of course corporate climbers throwing colleagues under the bus so they could crawl a bit further up the ladder. I think the other main networks weren't much better. -
Alas no, it has to be broken down..

I guess many of us go through it. Adding a bit here and a bit there and a couple of more pedals to the board until suddenly it's strip back time.

Our singer brings lights. I have lights that now stay at home. Agreed with the banner, but it's not like we're playing to a 40w bulb. He just keeps adding. Oh and the drum kit is on some scaffolding type set up now.. AND he's the one that always says bring the big PA speakers, even if we know it's a smaller gig!
-
We do have originals bands playing the pub/club scene here and at this level they need their own gear too. I guess once you are playing better venues then that wonderful scenario is the norm.
-
Yup, banner for the band. We had a fine one, but he decide to get a new larger one.. The lights are for both, with plenty dotted around the drum kit. It's great to be seen, but I have accidentally booted one in a moment of on stage exuberance!
-
He usually gets there before us all to get his set up well underway (and to get the best parking spot!). Maybe I should offer to help at the end but keep my fingers very crossed he's feeling generous and doesn't need me 😃 BTW, he is very aware we thing he has too much gear!
-
As a typical weekend warrior, playing in a four piece covers band, I, and I imagine many others of you, have to schlep our own gear in and out of venues. As I “joke” to punters lurking at the end of a gig, packing up is my least favourite part. My band members and I all have a fair amount of gear each, but particularly so the drummer, who is forever adding more lights to his hoard. I have a dodgy back and very occasionally I need a bit of help shifting my cabs, which the drummer does do sometimes and as a band we help each other out with gear if one of us gets his out first.. except.. The drummer has so much stuff now, drums, banner, lights, more lights.. and the rest of us will have packed up our gear, loaded it in cars and be ready to go before he is even finished and ready to load out. I nearly always have work the next day, the rest don’t. We do help the drummer out with his gear but it is becoming a joke. I generally want to be on my way when done and I’m often told to ‘k off and go but I get a bit of anxiety if I haven’t helped him with any of it. Annoying as it’s not my fault he has off the scale GAS. Why should I worry, just my nice side comes out and feel I should help! Should I just shrug it off and wave as I drive away? Anyone else get a bit p’eed off with the mega slow packer in your band? Mark

Out of interest, what is the Eden sound? -
I wish we could organise ourselves enough to have something.. I've always wanted to use this -

Wide. Might I add though, one should carry out an exhaustive and thorough risk assessment on the slipperiness of both the flooring beneath you and the soles of your footwear. Catastrophic results will occur if you try and push beyond the optimum grippage of the slippage. I can attest to this.
