Ouch!! Great to hear the audience still singing "Bruce! Sheila!" in Nuclear Device at the start though -

Well, I still have an early 80's black bodied Precision that I bought a few years back from a certain person on here.. ahem! Replaced the neck with an after market maple lefty and threw my fave SD Quarter Pounders in there and it absolutely is my No.1 go to -
Exactly as I would normally do to. Never again

I had a salutary reminder that I can't drink a lot and play. A pre birthday gig + didn't have to drive = Oh dear.

There certainly was a prog element in there. From concept style albums, leftfeild subject matter and some great odd time signatures. In the middle section of Curfew on Black and White, which has a phrase repeated six times. The 2nd part of the fourth phrase has one extra beat in it.. why? WHY?? Oh and the drum pattern start of Peasant In The Big Sh*tty on a count of 9. Also The Raven and The Gospel According To The Meninblack have some corking odd stuff going on. I guess it was another of those bands with four differing talents that clicked. Jet's drum rhythms are rarely straight. Hugh's edgy spiky guitar. Dave's extraordinary keys and of course JJ's bass. Love them! -

This is a fantastic book to read as you go through the albums and songs. Lends another colour to them (.. and I've lost my copy). -
I was Dee Dee earlier, was bored and so I did the Sids.

Sssssh! Don't let the secret out!

Oh yes indeed. Obv the list is verrrrry subjective. Under the chin basses are in it though.

That spin malarkey comes a very very close second to bass solos in my book (well, more like a pamphlet really).

How important is YOUR visual performance?

Yeah. Look like you're in a band and play like you're having fun. Punters do notice. -
Bass solos? Never ever, blo*dy ever. When playing live (in a covers band) before going in to a specific song with an excellent bass intro (which are allowed of course).. I will inform the punters what a bass is and if they are ever at a gig and the bass player threatens to play a solo, they should finish their drinks, grab their coats and leave in composed yet hasty fashion. I then tell them this is an intro... and off we go

"Oh ja! I play guitar a bit and always vanted to vork in ein music store!" "Gutt, ve need some help in zee varehouse, here..." (opens door ). "Ahh!.. ohhhh..." -
I'm sure your correct response to that request was a simple "No".

I've basically had to flip my head and actually use the pedal in the correct fashion. I need to use it more for it to settle in with me.

When you have some new songs to learn (covers) and put in a load of effort prior to rehersal and make up crib sheets for the others if needed and then at rehersal you hear one of the others (the one that sits down all the time..) say.. "Yeah, I've listened to them in the car a few times". That same band memeber who always gets to gigs first and parks right by the load in, gets all his gear in but then doesn't move his car so others can enjoy a shorter distance struggle with their kit. Who also could only ever end a song with an overly elongated and utterly boring crash bang wallop rock and roll ending. I think a fifth of our gig time were his bloody endings! I brought it up and said you can only do three or four a gig and seriously trim them down. We seem to be sticking with it now.

Funny (ha ha or peculiar) gear transactions

Blimey! Maine! Yes, I had a Maine head back in the early 80's. I can't remember the output, maybe 200W. I had it sat on a Fender 4x12 cabinet that had the speakers fitted at an angle inside, it wasn't a great sound.
