thats good to hear mate i traded a fender jazz 5 string on here a little while ago for my current bass, dont get me wrong i'm very happy with my deal as i got an instrument which does everything i ask of it. anyway about a month later i was scrolling through the for sale section and up pops my old fender i have to admit i was sorely tempted to buy it back however at the time i wasn't financially in a position to do so and so i put a few kind words on the thread as a previous owner and was on my way i've often wondered where it is now if anyone bought this its an american fender 5 string jazz in olympic white with a 2008 serial number i'd love to know where it is Disclaimer: i'm not looking to buy the bass back but i'd like to know where its ended up just out of curiosity

Anyone missed out on their Big Break.
Chrismanbass replied to Bassman Sam's topic in General Discussion
i got an offer last year to play bass for the house band on that jesus christ superstar show and i turned it down because at the time i didn't believe my reading was good enough for the job and i had my uni work etc to contend with after watching the show and seeing some of the parts i wish i hadn't c'est la vie life goes on -
Funnily enough it all ended quite amicably after our guitarist, who was a black belt karate player laid out the two ringleaders.
haha don't think i'd ever resort to this however i have given the odd drunk a shove offstage if they get a bit lairy (with female singers the rest of the band end up becoming security) on the upside a punter proposed to our singer last night which amused us all no end

as a complete polar opposite gigged again with the same band tonight did the same set and tore the roof off the place the audience loved it (we had them dancing on the tables) the management have booked us once a month for the next 3 months i gave out 15 business cards (all i had in my wallet) and we had complements all round what a difference a day makes

ok so i've just come in from a covers gig which was pretty un eventful really good audience, nice tight band, etc.. however as i was playing on stage i noticed a group of young guys sat down beside the stage making a w**ker sign at the band (not sure if it was me or the band in general) at first i was a bit bemused has anyone encountered this kind of behaviour before? i mean fair enough i'm putting myself up on stage to be judged and they're entitled to their opinion of me or the band but seriously? in the end my solution was to drop in some tasty fills, enjoy myself more than before and casually remind them as i left the stage they by drinking they were paying my wages just wanted peoples thoughts really?

Recommended replacement Jazz Pickups/Pre
Chrismanbass replied to MarshallBTB's topic in Repairs and Technical
to be honest it depends entirely on what you want out of your bass and what you use it for for example on my 5 string i use for function bands and theatre shows so i need something versatile but very clear this means Bartolini pups and a john east preamp if your ever in london your welcome to come over and see if you like the sound my advice would be to try a few different combinations if you can and figure out what you like chris -
definately take it into consideration when i'm upgrading the function bands gear next time (said function band is a 12pc) so 32 channels is not as ludicrous as it sounds
