  1. I have a couple of them, both fivers, so I can give you a bit of a review. The bad: For me, the electronics were the first thing to throw out. Replaced with MEC 3-band but I'm sure you'll have your own preference. Hated the strings it came with, again that's personal, others might well love them. And on the natural finish, the neck joint is well made but the bit on the front looks a bit home-made when you look closely. I've put a sticker over it or I'd show you what I mean. The good: Almost the perfect fast 5-string neck for me. Shallow, not too broad and nice satin feel, and a wenge board too. The big cutout makes reaching the dusty end so much easier and more fun, though I guess for people without giant gibbon arms it might make the low notes more of a stretch. I don't find it so, anyway. The weird cutout round the strap button means it's a bit less liable to falling over. It's my live bass, sounds good and plays like a dream, but not so expensive I need to sell my house if it gets nicked. Tl;dr: With a bit of work they're great bass guitars, if a bit rudimentary compared to the £7k German ones. Personally, I wouldn't pay over £500 new. Hope it helps.
  2. Now reduced to a slightly lower £429. Save £110!!!
  3. If that tiny Warwick was a 5-string I'd be all over it
  4. Yeah, but it goes up to 17. Alas, I like to fold my thumb round to get that low E flat, so I'm out until my thumbs grow some more.
  5. It’s a packaging error. That’s actually Gene’s Herb Chopper bass.

  8. I got dragged to see REM in the late 1980s and I swear they played for three hours. Stuck it for a while but had to go for a break and didn't go back in.

  16. Whatever the interval Em is the 3 chord if you're in C Maj. Going up, the interval between the two is a major third, going down it's a minor 6th, but it's still the iii in terms of the key of C. Mind you, I talk sh1te sometimes.
  17. It's a neck, tuning machines and string tree from a 2020 Squier Classic Vibe 70s Precision Bass. Which I reckon is about 50% of the bass itself. (I have the pickups, bridge, neckplate and pots somewhere if anyone's interested, for a few dollars more). It's a maple neck in vintage tint with maple board and black blocks/binding. Includes the original tuners and string tree. All 100% stock. The only mark on it is where some of the varnish on the truss-hole chipped when the rod was turned. See here: The whole thing is finished in the spirit of the poo-brown flare-clad Capri-driving 1970s. It has been barely used and frets are all in perfect nick.Truss turns and works properly. It's a slim, shallow neck for a P-bass, and fitted the body it arrived with perfectly snugly. C profile, 'crafted' by a CNC operator in Indonesia. Collection from Hove, or UK postage at cost (choose your preferred courier). More pics:
  18. I'm a big fan of Cioks DC5. Never have to think about it and it fits nicely beneath even the flat boards such as nano and metro.
  19. My tuppence ha'penny: Width and profile are a bit less important than neck thickness and fingerboard radius.
  20. This song has one of my favourite ever lyrics too. Seems to be about someone creating their own Lassie dog porno doll out of bits of dead bug, and it's all ridiculously shoehorned into the rhythm(s) like watermelons stuffed into a sock. It's the opposite of normal songwriting, and also completely brilliant.
