  1. Bought this a week or two back on the grounds that a headphone amp would be a good thing to have. Expensively, it turns out I'm wrong. Could send it back and leave the retailer to deal, but I'm not feeling that selfish. So, for £50 less than retail, and with UK postage included, you get this pristine and only-used-twice brushed-metal beauty. Complete with box and all the bits that came with, except for the plastic wrapping. Here's the lowdown: it's a headphone amp. It's a portable USB audio interface. Or it's a 2-band preamp for your bass. This is the posher of the two PJB Big Head models, and is powered by a massive lithium ion battery to make aviation more challenging. Stick it in your gigbag, you know, just in case. Here's the official skinny: https://pjbworld.com/cms/index.php/product-ha-2/ Small print: I won't post outside the UK, sorry. I'm open to trades, I guess? Item can be viewed and purchased in leafy Hove, subject to SoDis, or else posted using a postal delivery operative. Woo woo! Buy it and stuff.
  2. Not sure about the upper horn there
  3. I've had three bass looms off John now (2 Js and a P). Always easy to install, sound great, do what they're meant to and delivered within a day or two of ordering. I wholly recommend that you also buy three of his looms.
  4. I once put phosphor bronzes on an electric (Warwick) and loved the sound a lot. When I tried to gig with them nobody could hear me even with the amp up full. I actually had audience members complaining, you understand. It was a regular gig using otherwise my regular rig.
  5. Anyone see this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1977-78-Fender-Jazz-Bass-Guitar/264754366975
  6. Thanks both, job done and trainspotterly urges sated.
  7. I think given my skills with rulers and drills, I'd probably best go for the latter if that's OK? I'll bung you a Paypal for whatever the postage comes to.
  8. Much appreciated -- btw, what screws does it use? Same as scratchplate?
  9. That has done the trick for the cover mounting holes -- thank you!
  10. Feel the need to hack my Flea a little. Can anyone point me at the fitting templates for Fender Jazz mute kit and ashtrays? Thankyous.
  11. His mum clearly had teeth also.
  12. The Oxford Dictionary of English contains this definition: "a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often wryly amusing as a result". Now I've nothing against her, but I'd laugh a little if it really did rain on her wedding day.
  13. In 1970, Alice Cooper was in fact 22. The kids from Fame, meanwhile, are unlikely to actually live forever.
  14. Was for Janice Long, but is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-wv92K3v8o
  15. Least they cooked it.
  16. Has to be a ‘78, I’d have thought.
  17. I quite liked it. (Bit like Lizzo's 'Juice' tho, isn't it?)
  18. Longhorn case, maybe?
  19. Really happy with my P-bass loom, which as a bonus I managed to fit into my Squier on my unskilled toddy in no time at all. Ordered, delivered and fitted inside 48 hours. Brilliant.
  20. You could always ask the guy: https://johnillsley.com/contact (I thought Precision with a bit of scoopage, but I have cloth ears).
  21. Quite. Ipcress.mp4
