How do you set your volume playing live?
Mark Dyer replied to John Cellario's topic in General Discussion
I'm very interested in this thread as I'm currently playing in a band where we tune down for certain songs. To save faffing about detuning mid set, I swap basses.
Have you considered using a HipShot extender? -
I would rather have an up charge for the option of a LH instrument than no option at all.
-
May as well take Spector off that list, the 2014 Euro price no longer has LH models apparently.

What are you listening to right now?

Hi James, I'm a freelance designer by day (and most nights) I would be more than happy to put together a business card design for you. If you need only a small print run (250+) initially then I would suggest using these http://uk.moo.com/products/?gclid=CNexxNzL370CFW7MtAodkQEAdg I would recommend you avoid Vista Print, nothing wrong with them if you're a plumber/builder/white van driver (apologies to all the white van driving tradesmen here).

If it was a band writing and performing great material right now it would have to be Rival Sons. If it was a chance for over-the-top playing I'd say Living Colour (Doug Wimbish). If I could travel back in time, Hendrix when he first hit the live scene in the UK, just to see the audience faces as they watch him for the first time.
HI Guys, It's Black. Sorry no case but I've seen one on the Bay for about £50 ( Spider) not sure if they fit lefties tho. Mark get it bought! Boxed carefuly wrapped and insured. Cheers
If I hadn't already taken possession of a brand new Spector this very week I would have snapped this up straight away. If another bass arrives this month, it will be only a matter of time before I find out what particular kitchen instrument the GF attacks me with! Ok, in a nutshell, what I'm asking everybody here is, how do I get a suspicious guitar shaped looking package past the GF security systems? She has patrolling attack dogs, razor wire fencing and laser security alarms set up all over, it won't be easy. All suggestions welcome.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm not sure how useful this would be? I don't think there are that many companies that produce LH versions of their entire range. Case in point, I've just purchased a LH Spector LX Euro, the US based workshop don't produce any LH models but the European and Korean Co's do. A simple black and white approach to listing isn't really going to help. Can I suggest we instead, simply list as many LH models available in the marketplace at present and try and keep it as up-to-date as possible. Maybe categorise the listing into say, Jazz & P clones, boutique, modern, acoustic, etc. Then, if anyone here asks what's available for LH players looking for X, Y and Z, we can point them to the page? Just a thought...
Looks an awful lot like this: The shape of the headstock, the pickguard, even that staired ridge on the pickguard.
Oh my, that is the AC Cobra/Ford Mustang of basses! Would quite like one meself.
As someone who is not totally up with basses, i am not sure what it is. Looking at the headstock, is it an Alembic? I just can`t make out the label on the headstock.Whatever it is, it looks very nice.
Sorry, should've labelled it. It's a Spector LX Euro Classic, with Aguilar Pre-Amp and a HipShot extender too. Just arrived from Bass Direct today, been on order since beginning of Jan, but worth the wait. Time to go plug it into the rig, then pub after...

Just arrived today. Absolutely stunning sound, the low end growl on this thing is something else, so glad I got the Aguilar pre-amp. Can't wait to try this live.
Nah, boring black and white, not going to happen, it needs some color accents.
I completely agree, don't try and replicate something it isn't. Your choice of colour is spot on, it's different but also tasteful and considered.
I have my doubts that any small distance after the nut makes any meaningful contribution. I can't tell from the photo if he's using a string tree, which would almost negate any supposed benefit.
Stop spoiling our fun!

My first bass guitar was a RH Shergold Marathon, horrible plank of mushy sounding wood and zero punch, got me through school and early college before I sold it for £60, good riddance too!
My MIJ Fenders. 57RI P bass + 62RI Jazz bass.
There's definitely something about those two. Nice.

Here's my Fender Jazz Deluxe. Currently up for grabs in the Lefty for sale section… Ahem!

Not strictly bass related but I've often heard people here mention setting up a blind test with different instruments. Wouldn't surprise me if some newer and/or cheaper basses won.
