i once very stoopidly placed an effects pedal in a case with my 77 black/maple strat after a bit of shaking and jiggling later i had a nice chunk out of the lacquer and wood, mid neck right under under the thumb line
Wouldn't worry about it tbh your price is so good you could afford to have it couriered and still undercut the competition.
yes it is way cheaper than ebay but i'll be happy as long as it goes to a good home with someone who has the patience to twiddle around with it and put it to good use

hartke hydrive 1x15 - 500W power rating discrepancy?
steve-bbb replied to steve-bbb's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd take both the eBay lister and the TalkBass posts with a pinch of salt as it says nothing about how the cabinet or indeed about how the gear is being used. e.g. driving excessive low end (sub frequencies) in to it. I'd say that about any person making general comments about any gear. There's no fact in the reference to the power handling. I could make a speaker cabinet 'fart out' with not a great deal of power which could lead to premature failure of the speaker. Or maybe, just unlucky, the guy had a faulty cabinet? It does happen after all.
good point - im inclined to agree as ive not had much in the way of adverse feedback on here that would support the original ebay posters 'opinion' or found anywhere else on the interweb my own gut feeling is to go with the hydrive 1x15 and the lh500 - my hydrive 4x10 is a beast and im very confident of its capabilities so hopefully will be likewise for the 1x15 -
I am sure someone will come along who knows for sure. The double stops and shakes do sound like mod wheel & pitch bends though. Garry
its not the easiest of things to google either! - at least ive just learned that vinnie colauita is on the credits for it! never realised that before
Oh well - i got that wrong.. Although it does sound like the DX7 Fretless Bass patch, The same one as 'Take My Breath away' - Berlin. And just about every Pub Duo using Backing tracks. Garry
not being a synth exp but form my experience of previously owning a roland super jd it does sound like some of the fretless and acoustic bass patches in the roland did roland make a bass version of their guitar synth pickup (edit - and if they did was it available at the time of the recording? i think their first bolt on guitar synth pick up was early 90s ish so guess that might be to late?) - i would agree that the whole tone does sound like patches but some of the lines played sound like they fit better on strings rather keys if you catch my drift my ears (and the technology timeline) would suggest synth but my fingers are saying strings

Want to move up to Higher gauge strings
steve-bbb replied to arabassist's topic in General Discussion
55 ???? bejeebus ive gone all dizzy at the thought i use 45s on a 34 and 35 scale length and both sound fine in the bottom end although i do agree the G can sound a bit puny but in mycase that may be cos i should spend a bit more time and adjust the pickup a tadge at that end -
A Gripmaster may or may not help with left hand technique - I don't know, but that's not what I used mine for. It did help me with my right hand technique. I used to run out of steam halfway through a fast song we used to play at the end of the set and would get severe cramp in the hand. After using a gripmaster these problems went away as my fingers felt a lot stronger and I could play a lot faster and not run out of steam.
but wouldnt you just repeatedly practice the song to develop the strength to complete it without fatigue? that way you are reinforcing the muscle memory and pattern of the fingering too? i dont disagree that squeezing a gripmaster will improve strength - its just that i would prefer to improve that strength by repeating the riffs and patterns over and over until they roll off your fingertips on auto-pilot
