So you have tried identical basses but for the woods involved and found that they sound considerably different? If so then you I defer to your more relevant experience.
i didnt say but for the woods - obviously there are other factors but why defer to my experience when you could have your own? one thing i can guarantee, is that it will be much more useful than us lot on here waffling all our pseudoscience

i really dont understand people who claim that the wood doesnt make a difference?- i just visited my local music emporium to try out half a dozen different J's (mixture of fender and squier) - ive decided on the cheapest squier there as i like the sound from it (and the price!) but even my cat could tell the difference in tone and sound quality between them

http://youtu.be/yOB7iI1rCPU folks would rather be at home being hypnotized by simon cowells sh*te than putting on their saturday best and getting out and partying edit: 'brainwashed' better than hypnotized!
Yes, incredible, but I found three guitarists who know when to shut up and don't need to use huge amounts of distortion. No, I can't believe it either, but if it's a dream, don't wake me up!
nope sorry dont believe you must be a dream! next youll be asking us to believe youve got a keyboard player that doesnt want to fiddle about and fill in all the empty quiet gaps
I found this on youtube, Beverley Knight doing Cuddly Toy soul style. What a stomper of a tune just played along about 8 times, put a massive smile on my face, what a voice, shame she has never got the credit she deserves. http://youtu.be/FjgF-9WryAg
i like her but she seems to attract as many detractors as she does fans - my only reply to them is 'this is the lady who had chaka khan sing her backing vocals'

after having two trb's i would deffo say there is a difference in tone with the 35 although my current trb is one of the bolt on necks and whilst the open e and a are quite nice they are not as clear as on the original series trb5/trb6 - if you get hold of trb5/trb6 with the through neck you will definitely hear the improved clarity of the low b and it is playable too and not at all a bit flubby like some low b's

set up related unusual (unwanted) noise
steve-bbb replied to steve-bbb's topic in Repairs and Technical
thanks for the replies will check this evening - also just remembered - noticed it more since i restrung it last week but my string application is always consistent as dictated my bordeline ocd! -
just had a wee set up - tweak of the truss rod , saddles etc and nut filed down as was waaay to high now have a really strange noise coming from my open D - not so much a buzz more a whine - its a really strange high pitch harmoinc type noise that is a loud enough to be noticeable and disonnant enough to be irritating! the saddles all seem fairly settled so my only guess is possible from the nut end - indeed listening to the bass acoustically it does seem to come more from that end is it possible for nut groove string seating to cause this sort of thing? anybody any experience? i have a spare piece of nut bone but would prefer not the expense of having new nut set in place and set up but if needs must i guess ta muchly
#11 Stay sober
anybody see the santana documentary recently on bbc4 - they had done so much acid at woodstock and were unexpectedly called on to do their set earlier than planned and he described how he was trying to concentrate on his solo whilst also trying to stop the guitar neck from squirming about
