  1. Nick Lowe having a bad hair day?
  2. preloved sandberg electra for about 300-350 ish best value out there imho ymmv mcton etc
  3. this and the "aspirational lifestyle marketing BS "
  4. get a dog and a nice motorhome
  5. i think linking it to trumpy pumpy or any politician for that matter, and inferring that gibson's decline could be terminal because of politics is a bit disingenuous - gibson's ceo and his board chums managed that all by themselves with their executive "lifestyle choice" decisions without any need for political scapegoating
  6. you paid for the whole pineapple but i bet you didnt eat the spikey bit on the outside 😆
  7. doesnt work very often ( imho ymmv mcton etc etc) this example works extreemingly well great player great tune
  8. I don’t think theloose screws made it inside the cab is sealed not ported and it all sounds clean now
  9. didnt have to disassmble the cab in the end just remove the back plate they were already missing so i guess theyve vibrated themselves completely free whilst being hammered by the LH500 at full whack lol
  10. Decided to take the original screws out as the were only 6mm long and replace them with longer to give a bit more grip and include a flat washer and a spring washer rattling has ceased
  11. variable depending on genre/style
  12. found it - took the back panel off - there are six self tapping wood screws which fasten the back plate to the cab and then four set screws which hold the brass legs supporting the circuit board to the back plate - two off the screws holding the brass legs down had just vibrated themselves completely free ive noticed that there is some sort of red wax on the base of the legs and plate - does this serve any mechanical purpose or is it purely an anti tamper thing? thanks
  13. i actually noticed the rattle when i was moving them and put them down on a concrete surface and heard the rattle - sounds a bit like the grill but sounds more like it is sort of internal if you catch my drift
  14. Have had a pair of hydrive 112's now for a couple of years and up until recently they were being driven by an LH500 and doing a great job was quite impressed with their overall output compared to the hydrive 410 i moved from (for logistic/health reasons rather than audio considerations!) and also changed the LH500 for the lightweight TX600... nice tone but nowhere near the balls and power of the LH500 have just noticed that both of the two cabs seem to have a rattle that sounds like it is coming from the structure/chassis somewhere inside the cab - is doing it very slightly on one cab but the other is quite pronounced - i did notice at last gig i thought i could hear some distortion but realise now what i could hear was actually the rattling of whatever has vibrated itself loose anybody else had any similar experience with hydrive cab particularly the 112 and what was the remedy thanks before i go stripping these two apart ta muchly in advance
  15. thats enough to inspire me to change my name to rickenbacker and play exclusively fender
  16. sell them just keep one hope this helps
  17. indeed this - not knocking them but its not really yes is it - i was struggling with seeing them in their buggles phase but was an enjoyable gig nonetheless but still not a patch on the classic line up imho/ymmv/mcton/etc/etc
  18. you mean like sadowsky and fodera ?
  19. Sandberg Cali Blueburst TM4 Status Matrix 4 with JEast pre Squier vm J fretless with wizard hammers and JEast pre Hartke Hydrive 112 times two Hartke LH500 dbx160a comp korg pitchblack and for rig free gigs a sansamp di and all of it apart from the last two items was bought from ... basschat!
  20. top of the stairs
  21. for those sort i usually just take a sansamp di and a compressor pedal
  22. possibly because even on here and other online establishments things do not always go as planned - i once purchased a bass online that was sold with a hard case - it turned up at the designated delivery address with just ONE of the FOUR catches on the hard case holding it closed - no other fastenings around it to prevent the case from being opened and nothing around the case needless to say this was categorically the very last time i would buy such an item without going to collect in person, hence i will only sell to collectors now or at least local enough to drive and meet them and hand it over in person - ive just recently put 2 basses a geetar and a cab up for sale but removed the ads and took them instead to a local reputable music shop to sell on commission
  23. mojo there was a thread recently on faceache cant remember where , the jist of which some young(er than me) whippersnapper was commenting whether he could justify calling something 'relic'd' to which i responded that you possibly could but beware of miserable old cynics such as myself who have been around the block a few times and know what roadworn look like as compared to careless and neglectful handling
  24. if the affinity is an earlier one then id go for that - i have a 2009 affinity and its perfectly acceptable instrument have gigged it plenty - i have a VM and its a slight bit better but nothing to fret over - that said the newer affinitys definitely dont look as nice as the earlier ones - the better option squier wise would be a nice classic vibe but that would definitely not fall within your budget personally i do not even look on evilbay at all these days for anything - have you tried preloved gumtree etc and there are plenty facebook groups as well that are sale forums - be wary of cash converters they do tend to err on overpricing slightly (our local one seems to anyway whenever ive cheked whats in there) apols just noticed your update - as for amp for home purposes would recommend a small trace elliot combo - there are usually some boxer 65's floating around or even the BLX series too occasionally - hartke small combos crop up on sale boards too and would be suitable imho
