  1. Every time I hear this tune, I am left with a big smile on my face. This is Victoria De Angelis' bass part for the tune 'Zitti e Buoni', the winning tune from the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/zitti-e-buoni-victoria-de-angelis/
  2. Most definitely not....
  3. I haveonly heard two tunes by this band but this kid's sound keeps catching my ear.
  4. I also had a massive love for Jack Bruce, Chris Squire, Martin Brierley, John Giblin, Richard Nolan and about a million other people people. And don't forget the double bass players. Holland, Marc Johnson, Ron Carter, Paul Chambers, Reginald Veal, Christian McBride..
  5. My four horsemen were Jaco, Jeff Berlin, Jimmy Johnson and Percy Jones. The other have already been mentioned so here is Percy's iconic sound.
  6. Luminol bass transcription. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/luminol-steven-wilson/
  7. Sorry if this is getting a bit boring but here is another of the Panoply charts I have been preparing in advance of a rehearsal this coming Thursday. This is the title track from the 2018 Panoply album, 'A Walk In The Park'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/a-walk-in-the-park-panoply/
  8. I am wincing a little at the ad. 'The secret of all these great players is that they have all studied music' - no Shinola, Sherlock. 🤣
  9. Another tune from the same album, this is the track 'Five Steps To Nowhere'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/five-steps-to-nowhere-panoply/
  10. Another from the Panoply project, this is the tune, 'Later' from the 2019 album, 'Transcript'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/paradigm-shift-panoply-2/
  11. A special request from the website, the is a complete transcription of Colin Bass's bass part for the live version of 'Long Goodbyes' from the Camel DVD 'Live at the Royal Albert Hall' recorded in 2018 (with Peter Jones on vocals and keys). Lovely tune but not a particularly difficult part to read or play. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/long-goodbyes-camel/
  12. A transcription of the full album, 'Close To The Edge' presented in the order in which the tracks appears on the original vinyl LP. Now you can play the whole thing uninterrupted. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/close-to-the-edge-full-album-yes/
  13. Another chart from the studio project I am involved with which composer/guitarist Kevin Fitzgerald is looking to play live. This is the tune 'Paradigm Shift' from the 2018 Panoply album, 'A Walk In The Park'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/paradigm-shift-panoply/
  14. Another one to round off a 'full album' bass playing experience, this is the Chris Squire bass part for the tune 'Siberian Khatru' from the 1972 Yes album, 'Close To The Edge'. There is a slippery section in the middle that I am not convinced I have got right but have a look and see if you can figure out what is actually happening!! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/siberian-khatru-yes/
  15. Chris Squire's bass part from the track, 'And You And I' from the 1972 Yes opus, 'Close To The Edge'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/and-you-and-i-yes/
  16. I am not sure it ever got better than this...
  17. Another track from the great 2021 Solstice album, 'Sia', this is Robin Phillips' bass performance on the track, 'Love Is Coming'. A relatively easy read in 5:4, the chart is essentially 8 bars repeated with subtle variation. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/love-is-coming-solstice/
  18. A partial Jeff Berlin transcription this time. This is the first half of the tune 'Constant Comment' from the 2005 album, 'Boston T Party' featuring Dennis Chambers, JB, David Fuiczynski and T. Lavitz. The reason the chart of partial is because I got bored and the notes were not very easy to find in the mix. The bit I have not transcribed is essentially a continuation of the bit that I have just with different fills. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/constant-comment-chambers-berlin-fiuczynski-lavitz/
  19. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  20. Another Jeff Berlin chart. This is the tune 'Marabi' from the 1986 Berlin solo album, 'Pump It'. It is reportedly a transcription of a Cannonball Adderley solo but I can't find the original. If anyone knows which recording the original solo is on, please let me know. I know there are other versions of this transcription on line but this is all my own work. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/marabi-jeff-berlin/ That's 44 Jeff Berlin charts up there now. I wish I had had them 30 years ago!!
  21. Another one from the same Panoply album, this is the track 'Riding The Wave'. Some tough files on the opening section. Riding The Wave – Panoply – Bilbo's Bass Bites (bilbosbassbites.co.uk)
  22. Another chart for a project I am working on, taking the studio project 'Panoply, the brainchild of Suffolk guitarist/composer Kevin Fitzgerald, out live. This is the track 'Manifesto' from the most recent Panoply album, First Inversion' (January 2021). https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/manifesto-panoply/
  23. My 100th transcription this year. A full transcription of 'Lien On Me' from the 2004 Jeff Berlin cd, 'Lumpy Jazz'. I went with the ledger lines. If you want a copy with the 8va option, let me know and I will make it happen. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/lien-on-me-jeff-berlin/
  24. Special request from the website. The James Jamerson part to 'My Girl' by The Temptations. The issue was that the player in question needed a chart in G rather in the original key of C. I have posted all three charts; C, G (5 string low B) and G (conventional 4 string). https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/my-girl-james-jamerson/
  25. Paton was also on this recording with Camel.... https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/sasquatch-camel/
