I have never heard an earthing problem that caused a click not saying it is not possible but I have never encountered it.. I could see how it would be a problem related to the bass but it seems to be present with other gear as well and also goes away when at other locations.

Very nice job Kev.

That is really rather nice I have to say.
-
Interesting. I have never been able to do that as I don't have a standard type bass to compare it to.

Cetera, you officially have too many guitars/basses.
D.
PS Alan - have you ever noticed that your logo looks like a space man jumping for joy when the bass is viewed vertically?
I know quiet like the whole idea of that. -
Why don't you try posting on this forum.

There is a glues and finishes section. They are very helpful and I am sure someone there will have painted a bass they way you want to.

Looking positively tropical in your garden.

Greenish tinge could make it Tulipwood (poplar).
Yes, Alan, I remember from my art school days acrylic primer with oil on top=okay, oil primer with acrylic on top = no way!
Got some questions for you:
I've never seen the fabled 'epoxy' (that Americans talk about all the time) for sale anywhere in the UK....?
1. Where do you get it?
2, Would PVA work as a primer/sealant, I wonder - especially if I'm going to paint on the bass?
3. What 'brush on lacquer' would you recommend?
Hi
West Systems epoxy is available easily in the UK,have a look on Axminster tools they sell a small starter pack. It does have a slight amber tint to it which I actually like.
PVA is a pretty much a standard sealer but I have never used it on wood and then painted it.
I know Morrels do a brush on version of their spray lacquers and I am sure most companies do. But again I don't use that version as I spray every thing.
Axminster have a wide range of sealers and lacquers it would be worth a look. They also have a very good help line so you would be able to ask about the products.

Worth making sure that all the products you want to use are compatible with each other. Putting down a base coat that does not like the top coat leads to adhesion problems etc.
There are plenty of brush on lacquers available you could also seal the wood with epoxy this seals the wood and fills any pores.

Hi Claas.

It will be lacquer with a 35% sheen which is then wet sanded to 1200 grit then buffed with 00000 steel wool lubricated with oil to reduce the cut and produce a satin finish.

Now if I could just play half as well as you I would be really quiet happy with my lot.

Heard this bass at the bash and despite ou7's playing it sounded great.
-
I am sure he wont mind. I will let him know.

Now there is a surprise. It was Perry.
-
Not sure why Bertie the drummer is now called Craig. Who started that up.

Hi
I have a tuner belonging to someone. Get in touch and I will post i to you.

Sounds good Scoop.

The setup for the bash is Sunday morning from ten. We will have a drummer and a guitarist on hand all day to jam along with should you want to,they will be along to the curry as well. There will also be a double bass demo given by Lawrence from Overwater with his own guitarist. This will cover a fair bit of ground going into the way Lawrence approaches the whole subject of the instrument and the music he plays. Finish up some time round four but just depends on when people have had enough and need to go home. All very informal and entirely to have a good time. Might even play a bass or two if you feel like it.
I will be about all day Saturday as I have a few folk coming up to the workshop. If anyone wants to drop by let me know and I will give you the very small guided tour.

Still looking for a few more people for the Saturday night and the Sunday.
Cheers

If you can get a train to Lockerbie I can pick you up. Not even sure if that is possible or easy you would need to look into it.
Strange clicking noise from speaker/bass
in Repairs and Technical

The only time I ever had clicking coming through speakers was caused by a knackered starter in a fluorescent tube that was being picked up buy the gear plugged into it.
