I know what you mean when it comes to four-strings. As far as fives are concerned, I tried Scott's bass at the Overwater London Bass Day a couple of years ago, but the spacing was slightly too narrow for me, so I'm going with 17mm on my new Original Series. I wanted to post a pic of it here, but I keep receiving an error message that I've exceeded my 30MB limit, despite the file being a lot smaller.
No. Same spacing as Mr. Devine, 16.5mm. Very comfortable to play on a fiver. Somehow for me 16.5mm looks a bit odd on a four string so I'm happy with 19mm on a four.
Beautiful example. Looks like you've gone for a slightly wider string spacing than Scott. Is that the case? 1
Just picked up this beauty from Overwater yesterday.
I have at least one picture with me and the Blue 5string Overwater. But where.........Tried to find it but until now nothing. Question of time :-) What kind of Overwater will it be, the one you've ordered ?
An Original Series five-string with a 34" scale and custom 17mm string spacing. It will be finished in a translucent black stain with a high-gloss finish.

That's one I've never seen before. Do you perhaps have a few photos you could share? It seems more Overwaters have made their way over to the Netherlands than I thought, soon to be joined by my new five-string fretted, which is still under construction.
Hi guys, Well, the blue 5string original I had in the eighties was my first 5 string bass ! I ordered it directly from Chris at Overwater. Should not have sold it, but then again: lots of basses I have had the pleasure of playing, I should have kept. Sometimes the gas is playing tricks with your mind if you get me.:-) I'm in the race for an original at this moment. Very nice basses ! I love the shape ! Nels ( lowpainter )
Thanks. It will be with my parents for the next three weeks, should you change your mind. If it doesn't sell on Basschat or on eBay when the current listing expires, I may have them bring it back over here (Amsterdam).
Dont tempt me! I'm supposed to be slimming down my set up but this is a beauty! Good luck :-)
Love the black one! There's something about that shape in that colour that oozes coolness. My new OW is going to be a five-string fretted Original Series in translucent black.
A sister for my rather beat up black original. I was amazed at the range of tones - to the point of checking that it was really passive, big difference from the all mahogany black one.
Hi, Jan. I'd love to see a few pics if you have some. I have to admit, I'm not really familiar with nels Busch, and I'm not sure that the guys at Overwater know of him. I know of a handful of Overwaters in the Netherlands, one of them an Artisan, and also a few in Belgium. Regards, Kees

I own a '79 factory fretless Sabre in black. Lovely instrument, but not quite what I need at the moment, so I've put it up for sale: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220610-music-man-sabre/page__p__2280806__hl__sabre__fromsearch__1#entry2280806 -
I own a 1979 rosewood factory fretless Sabre in black. Beautiful instrument, but not quite what I need at the moment, so it's up for sale, should anyone be interested: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215184-1979-factory-fretless-music-man-sabre-price-drop/page__fromsearch__1

Is yours active or passive, BTW? It also looks like the single-pickup version. Is that correct?
I do and if I've got any say in the matter I'm not parting with it! It's the best bass I've had for both live & studio work. I'm playing it on this EP http://vetobroadway.bandcamp.com
