  1. Ah ha! Get thee behind me Satan, and all that πŸ˜¬πŸ‘Ή Shall I tell you what stops me? The strap button. I've never felt comfortable with that position for the front strap button. The bass kind leans away from me, and on my enormous stomach it positively rolls over. If I lose six or seven stone and it's still here, I promise I'll buy it.
  2. Interesting question. I played 5ers for a couple of years, way back when. It was in the spirit of adventure and discovery and a bit of a pose, as five string bassists were something of a novelty out in the sticks. I never particularly favoured five or four, but returned exclusively to four string basses ten years back. Now they just feel more comfortable, more natural to me. I displace the octave where I meet with a note below the E, and I enjoy finding creative ways to navigate the fretboard. Would I ever go back to a five string? Absolutely, anything is possible. Except slap bass. That is not for me.
  3. Full fee and an early finish sounds like the perfect gig!
  4. That's impressive pack down time for the entire rig - nice one! My personal best is 9 minutes from "thank you goodnight" to driving away - but that was just me.
  5. Two dep gigs in Wiltshire yesterday. First one outside a cinema in a storm blown tent, playing to nobody, and the second in front of a big screen showing the rugby to an entirely uninterested audience. The life of a working musician eh? There was a dep guitarist barely audible above the jangling of his nerves, and a two man brass section, also deps. Not quite in tune brass with not quite right guitar makes for fascinating harmonic content. In the end I stuck mostly with the root notes and watched the rugby.
  6. I think this is a thing of great beauty. If it weren't the wrong end of the country I might well be 400 pound down about now.
  7. Aaargh. I heard him pronounce tremolo 'tremollo' twice and had to quit the first video 🀣🀣
  8. I was asked to take pics of the innards. In answer to your question, I think it does. It has a good usable drive, and a very flexible EQ section. I've used it as a preamp and as a distortion pedal.
  9. Once again it's still loaded up for the next gig! However I will get there
  10. It's metal. So I guess the inside is all made out of candyfloss
  11. It's packed away at present. I was a little confused by this last night. It felt like metal but was light like plastic. I'll report back.
  12. I used it last night having had zero time with it to try it out. I used it as a preamp. It was extremely straightforward to dial in a good tone and to adjust it to suit when the band kicked in. Sweepable mids are always useful, and the bass and treble are very responsive. I used it with the dirt on throughout and it's not too in your face, but helped in the mix. The thing is extremely light. Feels like it ought to be way heavier and there's no doubt this contributes to a somewhat cheap feel. But it's a cheap pedal, so there's no harm in it feeling cheap. Is it rugged enough to be toured? I have no idea yet, I'll report back if it fails in any way. Anyway, if like me you buy preamps for a bit of fun, and have no intention of forking out a small fortune for one, this is perfect for you. If you want to support the original brand, and more importantly if you can afford to, then this won't be for you
  13. Literally took it out of the box and gigged with it. Just finished. Short review? Bloody brilliant.
  14. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07Z2VSNJH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
  15. I replaced my knobs straight away! Green ones to give it a Trace Elliot vibe.
  16. I'll report back. It's coming this week sometime.
  17. I was watching Nate Navarro's envelope shootout just yesterday and this one was so clearly the winner. Great pedal.
