  1. Great review @mcnach, as @DarkHeart says, go Blue Peter on it. A roll of sticky backed plastic is cheap, and you'd have enough to do it several times over. I'm lucky I like the tort look! The only mod I've done is a @KiOgon tone pot, the switching one. Put it on this and on the stealth P.
  2. Filter, envelope filter, autowah, wah, envelope follower, envelope detector... Anyone here clever enough to explain the differences in a way, say, a 5 year old could understand? (borrowed that from Einstein who claimed if you couldn't explain a concept to a five years old child, then you don't understand it well enough)
  3. My vox amplug disintegrated. I stood up not realising my foot was on the headphones cable. So entirely my fault, but it literally fell to pieces. I use a Nux one now, cheap, doesn't sound as good but it has survived years of my clumsiness.
  4. Touching on our heritage as part of the violin family. This bass goes too low to even hear!
  5. More than I can afford at the moment but it looks like a beauty!
  6. I actually love that! It's just band pass and low pass really, but as a bassist, band pass is pretty nasty. Although with the option of a low octave before or after the filter you can actually fatten it up with this pedal.
  7. I have an RM500 (don't know what 'evo') in a combo with a 12", also the matching 12" extension cab. I have gigged it (an outside gig, no PA support) in a 7 piece. It was all I needed, sounded great. Coped effortlessly under what I would describe as the worst possible circumstances for a bass. I use it for rehearsals too, but just the combo. It is capable of astonishing bottom end for such a light, and small unit. I bought it after selling my ABM600 and while it isn't the same animal, the RM gets close enough. With the shape button engaged and a little boost of the mid eq it has a lovely warm punch. The main difference with the ABM is the drive control. The older amp had a great valve sound whereas this RM is more of a distortion. Only thing I struggle with is the shiny fascia. But that's just because I'm old.
  8. Ha! Time will tell. I can tell you that I am the owner of number 146 and I bought it from a UK company I'd not heard of before. They're called Scan and at first glance appear to be a computer tech type retailer. Because they are. However, intriguingly, a deeper delve reveals some pro audio stuff too. And they beat Thomann on price for this one.
  9. Filter/wah with octave (up or down) built in. LP or BP option to use expression pedal. I'm in the car with it but I'll do a proper review once I get back. (met the DPD guy as I was leaving)
  10. Well, it's been a couple of days, plenty of time for the battery to have drained. Whipped it out and popped it into my trusty battery measurer to find my hopes and expectations had been, literally, exceeded. It's gone up from 8.6v to 9.2v. Before you burn me at the stake as a witch, this result is telling me that either my battery tester or my multimeter is not very accurate.
  11. No problem and no need to apologise. I just want him to see some hits when he checks it
  12. With me it's physical as well as mental space. I don't have room to put a pedal board on my desk and taking the pedal on and off everytime I want to tweak a setting is a pain.
  13. My kind of pedal this. I have a Boss LS2, but this scores over it in one simple but significant way. The gap between the sockets is greater.
  14. He programmed it to sound like a mate of his who actually does play like that. But it is drum machiney I agree
  15. I know. All I did was listen to xa mix and tell him the bass needed to be louder 🤷🏻‍♂️
  16. Absolutely right. I have pedals which _can_ sound good but take so much faff and fiddle to get right that I prefer to use something simpler.
  17. actually, erm, no. But maybe Bandcamp doesn't tell him if you only listen to the intro 🤷🏻‍♂️
  18. After a small cheesy quaver. A mate of mine has written and recorded a song. He's not terrifically confident, so it would be great if it racked up a few listens. No need to buy it or leave a comment, just give it a play. Please and thank you. http://trigeminalnerve.bandcamp.com
