  1. I have an RM500 (don't know what 'evo') in a combo with a 12", also the matching 12" extension cab. I have gigged it (an outside gig, no PA support) in a 7 piece. It was all I needed, sounded great. Coped effortlessly under what I would describe as the worst possible circumstances for a bass. I use it for rehearsals too, but just the combo. It is capable of astonishing bottom end for such a light, and small unit. I bought it after selling my ABM600 and while it isn't the same animal, the RM gets close enough. With the shape button engaged and a little boost of the mid eq it has a lovely warm punch. The main difference with the ABM is the drive control. The older amp had a great valve sound whereas this RM is more of a distortion. Only thing I struggle with is the shiny fascia. But that's just because I'm old.
  2. Ha! Time will tell. I can tell you that I am the owner of number 146 and I bought it from a UK company I'd not heard of before. They're called Scan and at first glance appear to be a computer tech type retailer. Because they are. However, intriguingly, a deeper delve reveals some pro audio stuff too. And they beat Thomann on price for this one.
  3. Filter/wah with octave (up or down) built in. LP or BP option to use expression pedal. I'm in the car with it but I'll do a proper review once I get back. (met the DPD guy as I was leaving)
  4. Well, it's been a couple of days, plenty of time for the battery to have drained. Whipped it out and popped it into my trusty battery measurer to find my hopes and expectations had been, literally, exceeded. It's gone up from 8.6v to 9.2v. Before you burn me at the stake as a witch, this result is telling me that either my battery tester or my multimeter is not very accurate.
  5. No problem and no need to apologise. I just want him to see some hits when he checks it
  6. With me it's physical as well as mental space. I don't have room to put a pedal board on my desk and taking the pedal on and off everytime I want to tweak a setting is a pain.
  7. My kind of pedal this. I have a Boss LS2, but this scores over it in one simple but significant way. The gap between the sockets is greater.
  8. He programmed it to sound like a mate of his who actually does play like that. But it is drum machiney I agree
  9. I know. All I did was listen to xa mix and tell him the bass needed to be louder 🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. Absolutely right. I have pedals which _can_ sound good but take so much faff and fiddle to get right that I prefer to use something simpler.
  11. actually, erm, no. But maybe Bandcamp doesn't tell him if you only listen to the intro 🤷🏻‍♂️
  12. After a small cheesy quaver. A mate of mine has written and recorded a song. He's not terrifically confident, so it would be great if it racked up a few listens. No need to buy it or leave a comment, just give it a play. Please and thank you. http://trigeminalnerve.bandcamp.com
  13. I suppose sometimes people like me (lacking a depth of understanding) need to be led by the nose through certain tasks, step by step through the procedure. Once done, then the explanation as to what has been done and why it worked makes more sense.
  14. I am only talking envelope filters / auto wah. My dedicated octaves, drives and phasers are superior to their multi counter parts.
  15. The best filter sound I've ever found is on the Future Impact. When I first used it I immediately began to sell my collection of envelope filters, auto wahs and pedal wahs. The problem is that not all the bands I used to play in called for that synthy sound. I've been searching since then for a more organic kind of sound to compliment the FI. It's fun, but a tad disappointing when expensive pedals fail to match up to the patches on a Zoom B1on. Not that it matters really. Buying these things is just a hobby for me now.
  16. One thing all this has confirmed is buying a decent multimeter was a very good decision. My old one used to cut out so I never knew if I had a break in continuity or just needed to bang the meter on the edge of the desk.
  17. Exactly how I used to think. Something weird has happened to my brain. Can't explain it but I've begun to like jazz 🤷🏻‍♂️
  18. I apologise, I didn't want to appear thick and admit that I didn't understand. I actually do understand now having followed Tony's instructions. Problem is that we all learn differently.
  19. As a result of this post I ended up meandering down a YouTube rabbit hole, watched a classical trained pianist trying to learn jazz, a documentary on the birth of bebop and a film about the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. So thanks to you I've had a fascinating, informative and entertaining afternoon and evening! Oh and learned a bit more about good practice practice.
