  1. I've been through a few and I have to agree. I really like my EBS too
  2. Yesterday afternoon I was resigned to a two gig weekend then I got a message inviting me to a last minute gig in Bath. Squashed into the tiniest corner we played to a typical Friday crowd of ever changing gangs of pub crawlers. Went down a storm and got home in good time. I took minimal kit as parking is a nightmare, so I had to be prepared to sack truck my gear through the streets. I must say that's two nights on the trot I've used the Cort, it usually gets overlooked for whatever reason. It's a simply wonderful bass. Light and beautifully balanced, rich tonal palette, fast comfortable neck.
  3. This is basically a brilliant amp with a free cab. Absolute bargain. Do not listen to the idiots who think that because it bears a resemblance to an amp with an expensive name that there's anything wrong with it. Superb, powerful, lightweight amp with a huge tonal range.
  4. Harley Benton power board (fully isolated multi volt PSU built in). Top row are always on, the three on the top left are my drive pedals controlled by the Joyo LS-2 clone. Parametric and compressor feeding big fat round bass to one channel and the Thruster sending filth to the other, they're blended and switched on and off by the Orthos. The rest just run right to left as you see them.
  5. Update....it sounded absolutely amazing.
  6. So this is the true evil of AI revealed. We can't just discuss a magazine any more, we now have to discuss if it's AI generated or not. 🤦‍♂️
  7. I absolutely agree. Which is why I highlighted the shows which I felt were the exception to this. Not one track that didn't interest or entertain. No unnecessary childish yak, just informed or amusing links from which I learned about stuff beyond just the artist name. I simply wanted to share them with like minded people
  8. I appreciate there are other options, but I enjoy listening to radio. My problem is 99% of what's broadcast is garbage. 6 Music is an obvious exception as are the two I provided links for. Mickey Bradley has excellent taste, chooses bands I've not heard before as well as some absolute classics, oh and he played bass for the Undertones! Why would I want a Spotify playlist when I can listen to a real human like him?
  9. This is an interesting one. Most of my pedal purchases have been tone or dynamics related rather than crazy noise related. I'm sure the phase will pass, however it's fun. Latest arrival is this Turns a dull sound into a huge thumping rattling racket. Don't know if it's supposed to not how it will sound live. I'll find out tonight.
  10. Most unusual song I've had to learn. It's a request for a Bandeoke party - Blackbird by The Wurzels 😅
  11. Strings come on third edition I believe. It's a little bit vanilla but we'll see. @Dood is yours a physical mag or online only?
  12. The internet has opened the doors to so much content it's difficult keeping track of it all. I've found a couple of 'local' BBC shows available on the BBC Sounds application which appeal to me and I suspect might work well for other folk of a similar age and musical disposition. My tastes were formed in the early seventies and waved goodbye to (most) popular music in the mid 80s. These shows probably reflect this. It would be great to hear what you've found. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001y25s?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/p02v9nnp?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile
  13. Bandeoke in Bristol again last night. The guitarist is getting married today and Wednesday was his stag. It was easily detectable that the band doesn't usually go out on the night before Bandeoke. We crawled over the finish line
  14. Yes indeed. The guitarist videos our Bandeoke every week - you can bet he doesn't care how badly I played when he chooses which sing to broadcast!
  15. Something I've learnt when playing unfamiliar material, if I get lost it's better to play nothing than hack around randomly trying to fill the silence. No bass beats wrong bass every time. Wait for the merry go round to come back to a horse you recognise and jump back on. Oh and worrying about mistakes benefits no one. I might think I'm being conscientious and professional berating myself for every slip, but in truth I'm just making myself tense and stressing about stuff which has gone. Focus on the next note not the last one
  16. I had one made for me by the (now defunct) Bad Penny company. It's a mess of boosts and fuzzes in a beautifully designed and crafted box.
  17. My god I almost admire him. Played you like an old fiddle 🤣
  18. It's a curious insanity, while I have a shopping list of things I actually need for my band, here I am wondering if buying yet another amp would be a sensible idea. 🤦‍♂️
  19. My immediate question too... I wonder how much
  20. I'd love to try this, but it's a hundred and sixty miles away..
  21. An unimaginable level of musical hell. Hats off for not just filling the tuba with beer and finding a quiet corner
