Just spent a happy hour with mine. Its one of those basses feels like it was either made for me or I've had it so long it's become part of me. I love it when a new bass has this effect.

I don't think it's about being offended certainly not in my case, it's more of an eye rolling, my God are there people who are employed by this company who are so mind bogglingly stupid they actually think this is funny. It's a boring cliché ungrounded in truth. I react to it in the same way I do to a bad film, I switch off.

For me Thomann win on just about every level. But their greatest strength is web design. The site is so simple to use, so pleasing and logical, I never struggle to find what I'm interested in and I can organise my searches easily and quickly in many different ways. The fact that it's so easy and enjoyable to browse makes it incredibly fun for window shopping. And because I have the will of a warm kitkat that window shopping has often ended up in actual shopping. Win for the customer, win for the retailer.

I think it's perfectly understandable we get fed up with with being the most important member of any band, while no one has a clue what we're even there for. However the fact that we're the most important member of any band provides me with enough comfort to cope with idiocy like that shown by PMT in this poorly thought out 'joke'.

Elf into a BF Midget is my preference. I used to use TCE 250 with the two 8" speakers. As @jimbartlett says the convenience of a small combo is just so good at a gig, you're set up before you arrive. However the Elf gives me a bit more of the sound I like, and the BF gives me lots more oomph. Or is it heft? But I really like the look of that 2 x 10 Elf rig.

I have never played through a good one either. So I've been unlucky, or you're quite right. I don't drink, sorry Ped.

Sean and I just completed a bass deal which ended with a perfectly packaged instrument in superb condition joining my stable. When I say well packaged I mean bomb proof. You can deal with this fine Basschatter with absolute confidence that what you get will be fairly priced, in great condition, and you'll be kept well informed every step of the way.

I think my Electra is a really classy instrument. Yes, in the context of a live band it sits beautifully.

I know what you mean. I put off buying the Progressive because it just looked a bit meh. But actually it's now a firm favourite. I've gigged and rehearsed with it and it's really lovely to play and looks better in real life than in the pictures

It kind of changes but probably the all black P Bass. Just because it has it all. Ridiculous price, stunning to look at, perfect balance, nice weight, easy to play, sounds like a P Bass should. I suppose it's fair to say all boxes ticked.

This conversation has had me playing my MM-84A SB. What a tone selection. This thing really puts it out there. I'm not so keen on maple boards which is why I perhaps don't pick it up as often as my other instruments. But boy I like this bass.

Totally. Big round profile like on their 50s p bass. The black one is like a jazz neck.

I have a sunburst Jazz which is older and a real ⚓. The 2 pickup version of the musicman style bass and that's pretty heavy too. Maybe the all black ones are from a new run using lighter materials. I don't know but I have the P Bass and MM bass in the Stealth Black and both are a beautiful weight.

Have been working on an interpretation of Betty Wright, Clean Up Woman, adapting it to suit our style without losing the feel of the original. I fancy a break so going to do an ACDC track from Let There Be Rock today

It's the 5.8ghz model, the WS50. Plastic but feels as sturdy as you'd expect. Latency entirely unnoticeable (to me, others latency sensitivity may vary) bought (new) from ebay seller for just over 30 quid, arrived after a few days. I've been using it on and off for three days now and the battery shows no sign of dying. In a direct comparison with a quality cable there was no discernable difference in sound quality. I paired it with a line 6 g75, bug to pedal board, line 6 from pedal board to amp and the latency was there, no question, but the actual playing experience was like using a very, very small amount of echo. Playing live it would be as good as unnoticeable. Again, other people's sensitivity to latency varies. After a lifetime of gigging under all manner of different circumstances I've grown a fairly rugged shell and so minor niggles don't bother me in the least. When you've lost all sound on stage and are playing to what you can make of the front of house until the guys get it sorted, then you can talk about latency. Anyway, my very early take is that this is the best bang for your buck available, simply because it works, costs less than a pack of strings, and above all you are out of the 2.4ghz traffic jam.

I do have one of the older HB basses and it could do with a bit more salad and a few less beers. *fewer (sorry mum)
