  1. I would have been building a pedal board as the flames licked around my brogues
  2. Am I right in saying that the more colourful ones (9,11,13) should be played higher than the scale?
  3. I know what you mean @Al Krow my whiny board was absolutely fine when I used it for an Internet gig a while back. I realised just now that I used to run it off two battery packs and I only had one connected when it was so noisy. I have a horrible feeling that was all that was wrong. But I couldn't for the life of me tell you how the power was routed when it worked! In other words, I fiddled when there was no need. 🤦🏼‍♂️

What is it, what does it do, and how do I know if I need one?
  6. Just bought myself a Thomann solderless cable kit. Why? I hear you cry! Cheap cables will onle exacerbate your noise problems. And off you go shaking your head. And I don't blame you one bit. But I bought them after watching this guy's review. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, can appear a little too pleased with his own jokes, but the research he does is there for all to see. In the spirit of sharing the wealth, I wanted to share it with you.
  7. First up I watched the rather wonderful Adam Neely who was keen to help me break out of my root, 3rd, 5th rut. Then I turned to the also wonderful Mark from talking Bass for a little clarification. And finally I produced this sheet based on what Mark plays at 10:31. Extended_Scales C.pdf I hope it's of use to you as it has been to me. I shall work through the other keys and post the sheets in this thread as I finish them. Please (if you already know this stuff) could you take a quick look at my work for mistakes. My medication causes me to drift, lose concentration. Sometimes I might sharpen notes I should flatten, that kind of thing. Thank you.
  8. If I could go back in time I'd be at one of those early 60s gigs. Yes I mean before killing Hitler. Priorities.
  9. I've been hovering at the door for the last couple of years, but today I finally joined the jazz party. This is absolutely extraordinary. The interaction between the drummer and bass player, the two soloists and indeed the whole gang at times is a joy to behold. Looking like extras playing civil servants in a carry On Movie these guys are beyond cool. I love it.
  10. Some great old school funky soul. Fantastic bass heavy mix too!
  11. No problem at all.

Snagged this for 15 quid. No case, but who cares? I shall buy a suitably sized charity shop suitcase, make some padding from leftover packaging. Pedal on there just for scale!
  14. My singer lives in Oxford, I have family in Wales, so potential for a Basschat relay.
  15. Clever idea!
  16. Finally got around to spending quality time with this little box of tricks. I emailed HB HQ and received a prompt response. I asked if they'd consider more bass effects and sims, told them their pitch shift is out of tune and they promised to pass my concerns and ideas to the development team. So that's done. I also found a rich resource of cab sims (IRs) free to download. The Ampeg cab I used is simply wonderful. A game changer. I found a way to work with the pedal consisting of a series of 'base' sounds onto which I craft other effects. Copying and pasting with the desktop software is a doddle and I have many great sounds as a result. Being a 'guitar' effect is no handicap. The custom equaliser allows you to choose any frequency and boost or cut same. I'll record some and pop them up here to illustrate my point. All in all I am glad it didn't sell when I listed it. I feel it is a worthy successor to, and serious upgrade on, my Zoom B3.
  17. I am trying to be financially prudent. It's a tough enough job as it is!!
  18. Well @PaulThePlug, your idea did not pass unnoticed. I am just about managing to hold off buying the MS-60B currently on offer in the for sale department, and instead I have put my B1 Four in the final, vacant space. My vision originally comprised an unbroken array of identical pedals. For some reason I can't quite bring to mind, I thought this might provide a talking point. However the asymmetric addition of the B1 Four is, I fancy, a more artistically pleasing proposition.
  19. We are of a like mind.
  20. @GH63 I doff my Harley Benton cap to you. I need to up my game if I really want to be considered as a proper HB fan!
  21. I have the 208 version but this is a far superior design. On mine the aux and headphone sockets are at the rear of the amp, so effectively on the bottom, extremely difficult to access. Also this has 2 tone prints! Good luck with your sale, this is indeed a fantastic bargain for someone.
  22. Thanks for this. I have only recently discovered a liking for jazz, so I will hunt down the documentary.
  23. Well roll me in honey and call me Gertrude! I didn't look well enough - clearly.
  24. I did look for that Joyo gizmo but I'm not sure if they make it any more
  25. No guitarist in that particular line up. I have to say it's bliss.
