  1. Wonderful project. Beautiful, quixotic and right up my street .
  2. Oh wow. This is more than fair. I love mine. GLWTS
  3. Near run thing last night. We have a weekly Bandeoke at a notoriously tardy paying venue. Sick of their shenanigans the band leader was forced to remind them of our agreement that we receive payment within a week or she could not guarantee her musicians would turn up. They coughed within a couple of minutes of the 6pm deadline so our strike was called off. Turned out to be a great night. Phew.
  4. Damn. That's just totally impractical.
  5. Actually I just remembered I have one of these in the loft. It needs fixing though. That means a courier and expense and it won't be a new amp when I get it back will it?
  6. I have a pair of very narrow speaker cabs. I assumed that a particular head would fit them when they are stacked vertically. However there are a few millimetres overhanging on either side. This, of course, renders the set up entirely unusable. Sensing the opportunity to buy more gear, I am in the market for a bass head no wider than 10 inches. I am aware so far of the Elf, Gnome, Bam, and Harley Benton Block. Can you recommend any others? Ideally with precise measurements. Ta.
  7. Only 3 gigs this weekend, one busy Bandeoke, one quiet Bandeoke, one freezing outside gig. 10 new songs for the Bandeoke gigs, of which only four got chosen but hey ho, I now have them all. The originals band is fun because I busk off chord charts which equates to two hours of improvisation, way more fun than trying to remember!
  8. I've really been hankering for two of the the Trace Elliot 2x8 cabs but they're just too pricey for me. This seemed the perfect budget option and so far I couldn't be happier. Oh no that sounds terrible, they wouldn't work for me then 😆 Believe me as it got darker and darker and the bass became effectively invisible it didn't sound that good 😬
  9. Turned out that was the cable connection to the bass guitar. Just happened to fail right when the Orange was plugged in. The compression on that amp is really second to none.
  10. Picked up a couple of 2x8 TC Electronic Cabs here and took them straight out for a test drive. Unbeknownst to me we were playing outside last night so they had their work cut out. I sat my Orange Little Bass Thing on top and stacked them vertically. The height was my primary motivation for buying them. They were excellent. Clear, articulate sound and above all really helped me to hear every nuance of what I played.
  11. Just bought a couple of cabs from @Raslee and they arrived in good time, perfectly packaged. More than happy to recommend this most excellent Basschatter.
  12. That's really neat. Small but perfectly formed
  13. Well, clearly our experience differs.
  14. Can we have a 'do compressors actually do anything?' thread now please. It's been a while...
  15. I've had a B3, but a while ago now. In my experience the Zoom Bass effects excel at useable synth sounds. There's enough flexibility built in to the various options to enable the user to come up with something decent.
  16. IIRC there's someone asking for one of these in the Wanted ads.
  17. Don't know if everyone has already seen this but I found some great, clearly explained advice here

  18. I was wrestling with trying to learn sequencer - it's not my first language - but the slicer and whammy came up trumps.
  19. Spent a bit of time with this pedal over the last couple of days. The more I learn about it the better it gets. Discovered the slicer and the whammy and got them to nail the start of Fox On The Run for my glam band!
  20. This wonderful, powerful, great sounding combo is surprisingly easy to move with built-in wheels and well positioned handle, it moves like a sack truck. I've had it parked up for years now because it's too big for my little car. Given the size and weight these beasts are no longer as popular as they once were. So , come and get it. It's yours for the taking.
  21. Used my RM 500 1/12 combo at a couple of recent gigs. The first one (a small outdoor festival) I paired it with the matching 1/12 cab. The second one a bar in Bristol I used the combo on its own. The sound was wonderful on both occasions. What I noticed however - and I've remarked this before - with both cabs it's monstrously loud, an absolute beast. With just the combo it's significantly quieter than I'd expect. I mean I really had to crank the volume to get a decent level. I understand the impedance implications and how these affect the efficiency of an amp, and I have many years of practical experience in the differences playing with two cabs and then one. My point is this is remarkably different from what I'd expect. Anyway, that aside, I'm more than happy to recommend the RM series, and paired with the 12" Ashdown cabs they are particularly good.
  22. Now there's an idea 🤔
  23. My favourite P Bass (and I have a few) bar none. Good luck with your sale, someone is going to be very happy.
  24. Take his hand off. Buy this. Seriously. Brilliant cab and very well priced
