  1. Hi guys. I know what the modes are, I also understand why they're what they are. What I'm asking is when confronted with a chord chart, if I want to noodle over it, how do I know which mode/s is appropriate. As I said there is a simple shortcut someone kindly created, but short of writing down the notes from every chord then seeing which modes these notes fit into, I wondered if there was another way. For example. One jam I used has 3 chord progressions, with suggestions for which mode fits each progression. Even though the first chord of the first two progressions is actually the same, different modes applied. I played along using the suggested modes and they fitted beautifully. I want to be able to do that without being told which modes to use. It must be possible or the guy who made the video couldn't have put them up!
  2. Peerless genius. The Slow Train works as a poem in its own right.
  3. When jamming to backing tracks on YouTube, some videos tell you the chord progression. Others also suggest which mode you might use. I would like to learn how to know the appropriate mode by analysing the chords rather that being told. Can someone point me to a resource which might help me to learn how to do this? I have found an online tool (enter the chords, it tells me the mode) but that does it for me, and I'd like to learn to do it myself.
  4. Next to the bass the most interesting part of any song is, for me, the words. So what couplet or 3 or 4 lines do you treasure? Not whole songs, just the little gems of wordsmithery that leap out at you. I'll start with Elvis. Honestly the King Of The Couplet the Vizier of the Verse, for me - I could easily just quote him all day. So to get the ball rolling, from The Loved Ones : "Don't get smart or sarcastic he snaps back just like elastic, Spare us the theatrics and the verbal gymnastics we break wise guys just like matchsticks"
  5. Ha! Good point. I just find my life becomes less stressful the less I try to inflict me and my ideas onto others. Catch myself doing it still sometimes though..
  6. Only the sudden unexpected demise of my car has prevented me from trying some of the new HB stuff. That and I'm already committed to buying a couple of things. But one day I'll probably be back telling everyone how great they are, and folk will shake their heads , smile indulgently and go on buying expensive labels instead. Which is absolutely their perogative and fine by me. Not that my opinion matters. Carry on.
  7. Damn. Wrong side of the country. Longing to help someone out with one of these
  8. Hmmm. Mine went up yesterday for less money and this sold in an hour. I'm going to my prices up 😅
  9. I can't use the search function when on my phone because the suggestions obscure the keyboard.
  10. Found her on YouTube little while back. So very very good. Oh and she wears a hat which is always a great thing in a bass player.
  11. I know what you mean. The whole Bad Penny range is so beautiful.
  12. Yeah it's like my Bluetooth speaker is branded W-King.
  13. I know, as I typed that I thought, haven't had a play with those for a while...
  14. Now SOLD I'm going to hazard a guess you know what this legendary pedal is! Notable features include its tiny size compared with other Big Muffs and a switch to enable clean bass signal to mix with the distorted thus preserving the much needed bottom. Pedal is in used condition and comes supplied with free velcro!
  15. SOLD Pedal board with hard case. Soft velcro on top. In used condition, case is scuffed but perfectly serviceable and comes with keys and all padding intact. I have added velcro and a cable tidy to the underside (I attached my power supply there), and there's a very small hole drilled, again in the underside which doesn't affect the use of the board.
  16. Car fail has prompted much market place activity. As this is my least used pedal I have decided to let it go. Least used simply because I've not had it long enough to fully get to grips. First thing first: it's designed for guitar. That said, plenty of Basschatters employ 'guitar' pedals to great success. There are actually a couple of bass specific things, and a fully customisable GEQ which allows you to select your frequencies to boost /cut. Also you can create, or download and install bass IRs if you want an affordable way into the world of amp and cab sims. There are a lot of different flavours of fuzz, overdrive and distortion on here. A lot. But also compressors envelopes, reverb, delays, flanger, equalisers, noise reduction, chorus and phaser effects. It is pretty much as new there is a very very tiny blemish, or spec, on the top left of the front panel which I would not have seen if I hadn't examined it for this ad. Drum machine, metronome, expression pedal (I'd just learned to use it as a manual wah), excellent fast and stable tuner and a looper all included. Thomann have their own software to enable desktop editing, and the on pedal adjustment is really easy once you learn your way around. These are just shy of £130 from Thomann and they're out of stock. If other stuff sells first I will definitely be keeping this. I received a European plug but you can either stick it a shaver adapter or just run it off your psu. It doesn't draw very much in the way of MA. I swapped rubber feet for small velcro pads but the feet screw in so I'll pop them in the box and you have the choice which to use. Pics :
  17. SOLD Price Drop now £25 The tuner. From the pedal company famous for its tuner. Hany 9v out saves an output on your psu. Runs on battery too. Pedal is in well used condition. Free velcro! If you don't want the free velcro I offer a free velcro removal service.
  18. Absolutely, I only shared the size in case anyone else might be thinking of buying one. I know I expected it to be much bigger so was pleasantly surprised. By the way if anyone thinks that boutique, hand crafted pedals in wooden enclosures must be prohibitively expensive, this was delivered to my door, brand new, for under a hundred of your earth pounds. It is extraordinarily good value.
  19. SOLD Classic twin filter bass pedal. Simple external controls, increase the amount of effect with the knob, filthy it with the switch. Under the bonnet are two small trims which allow you to alter the filters so they sit just where you want them. This is in fair condition, has velcro and rubber feet, standard 9v psu input. Can't say if I have the box. I will rummage in the attic.
  20. NOW SOLD I have made other arrangements so time for this behemoth to find a new home. Previous owner marked his favourite settings, tastefully choosing colours to match the logo. I can have a go at erasing them with the old WD40 if it's a deal breaker for you. However I found them useful so never removed them. This is in used condition, has velcro underneath, works from a 9v supply or battery. Has an old school jack socket for the power, I include an adaptor so you can connect to your psu with ease. Come and get it and we'll reduce the price.
  21. Size wise this Littlebox isn't actually too bad. Shorter than a standard Boss, narrower than two of them
