Paul speaks truth. Trace Elliot SMX. Dual compression. Really cool.

Same here.

That's a really good point.

I asked the same question a little while back. Nothing. These heads look interesting but are not causing so much as a ripple on the surface of the bass pond.

Please. Am I the only one suffering from this?

Classical and Contemporary Studies for Bass Guitar
stewblack replied to Rob MacKillop's topic in General Discussion
I have the digital version so it was a simple matter to remove the tab. Seeing two different languages simultaneously on the page was a bit too much for my poor tired old brain. I've been playing the 2nd and 3rd pieces today. Very enjoyable. -
I have always used Interparcel and never had a problem, despite the wide range of different couriers they work with. The price is way better than the Post Office (even when it's Parcelforce making the delivery) and you don't need to leave the house - they come to you! However, I forgot the small print and didn't put a layer of card on the outside of my last parcel. Why? The bass was in a case and so better protected than any cardboard box. I also wrapped it in clingfilm so it wouldn't spring open. But, this breaches their rules. A fair cop. I had an invoice for ove ten quid as a punishment, with the chance to appeal. I did this explaining that I had secured the instrument in a case and it was a simple mistake. No dice. Cough up or else. I'm torn. It was my fault, a clear breach of Ts&Cs so I can have no complaints On the other hand I had already sold the bass at a 40 quid loss, nor had I charged the full amount for delivery. So another tenner hurts. I think it's a risky strategy to fine a regular customer for his first mistake though. A warning and 'we're not going to charge you this time' would have endeared me to the company, and deepened my loyalty. I have stated it was my fault so no need to remind me, I really just want to make sure others don't fall foul of this.

This is a really useful tip. I had heard about this part of his technique and try to incorporate it into my playing. It facilitates swift movement without compromising timing

This is really good of you, thank you, I shall revisit the score and update it with these improvements in mind.

Back when I bought my first T-Rex records I would save pocket money then walk just over a mile to Parson's Newsagent and Record Shop in Midsomer Norton, hand over the loot and walk back avidly reading the sleeve notes, song titles, copyright information and ogling the pictures. This afternoon I went on a crowd funding website typed in some information and watched a video of the band playing one of the songs from the album. In several months time the vinyl will arrive, delivered by hand to my door. Back when I had a film camera I paid my money then waited full of excited anticipation for the postman to deliver my pictures. Now I look at my pictures the moment I take them. I'm living in the future. It's quite a confusing place.

Classical and Contemporary Studies for Bass Guitar

I have been learning to read music during the lockdown, you can't imagine what a joy it was to sit and play through the first piece in this book. To hear myself play something I'd never heard before, just by reading the dots! And what a beautiful piece of music too. Really looking forward to working through the rest of it. Thank you. -
Presentation of foreverbroke, pedal reviews channel

It's a beautiful work of art. I've never heard of Cooper Effects, I'm none the wiser now but I know I want to find out more. You're soundtrack work is astonishingly good. Bravo. -
If you decide to do it yourself it is surprising how easy it is. However, it's also surprising how easy it is for something utterly unexpected to go horribly wrong. However if you're planning on replacing the neck anyway, I say give it a go!

Annoyingly enough I had the expensive system and the guitarist's cheap and cheerful one csused my bass to drop out!

I recently tried a shorty from Dv247. Been spoiled by Thomann who always set up their basses. This will need a bit of work to make it playable, and I am not very fussy. Quite off putting for a beginner because it is so hard to get a good sound out of it. If you're confident in setting up and restringing then the bass itself is a good size and very light. Oh and very affordable.

A good bass into a good amp. Nothing else needed IMO!

I find this quite an interesting subject. I have always been drawn to the world of effects, but then would shy away from the godawful racket I invariably produced with them. I'd then tell anyone I could back into a corner for long enough that I don't need them, it's all in the fingers. I try not to be so pompous these days. I've come to realise that I was the problem. You see for all the ill chosen words the op has a point. The less between the bass strings and the speakers the easier it is to get the sound. Once you start adding variables it is more difficult to narrow down the options. I could never be arsed with the hard work. In lockdown I've spent a lot of time learning how effects dovetail with my style. What works and what doesn't. Invariably now I use them sparingly. A couple are always on, a couple produce specific sounds for specific situations, and occasionally, just occasionally, I use one because it sounds so damn cool! -
