  1. I don't actively seek out new stuff, but I check out recommendations here and elsewhere online Occasionally listen to 6 Music and if something leaps out at me I can get very excited about it. As others have said the big thing that's changed for me is I now treat any unfamiliar music as 'new' regardless of when it was recorded. Some bands or songs from 50 years ago are entirety 'new' to me. I suspect the older I get the less I'm ruled by the passionate prejudices of my youth. However great age also brings a great big record collection so I have less time to look for novelty. I simply have more 'old' music to enjoy.
  2. I'd never seen the David Brent video, thank you so much for sharing it, absolutely brilliant.
  3. No no, this 'MK 1' is all my own work. Obviously looks a lot tidier now. 'MK 2' recently completed its trials, and only one small modification awaits before 'MK 3' can be unleashed. Watch these spaces..
  4. Downloaded the manual and one of the geq 's is aimed at bass guitar so guessing this us a general purpose pedal In which case shame one of the billion amp sims isn't a bass one! Oh and for those who didn't realise the unicycle comment was entirely innocent. Julia is fabulous on the bass and famous for her ability to ride a unicycle and play bass at the same time. Check out Thomann's YouTube channel.
  5. Never considered it from this pov. I suppose it stems from playing at home and going Yay this sounds ace! Then getting to rehearsal and realising you need entirely different set up when playing with other people. Easy to see how people might assume it's the cab doesn't cut it when in reality just needs tone changes to the amp Unless it's the volume. If the cab just doesn't go loud enough and retain a good sound then it's fair comment to say it needed to be tried in a band situation I think.
  6. Wow, that's a very light, very reasonably priced unit.
  7. My finger hovers over the buy button..... then I think, the suffix GiT... surely denotes Guitar, does this suggest a dedicated bass model might be coming? Edit: just emailed Thomann.
  8. Been searching for something to cover a scratchplate paisley. I'll go have a look. Thank you.
  9. I used a pedal board inside one of those wide pedal board case for my front row pedals the back row which are always on are down in the case itself. So not identical but inspired by your design. I have a minor issue insomuch as the top won't close any more but not difficult to fashion some extensions to the sides of the lid. Finally my board is coming together. I plan on creating a fun one with those mini pedals just for scheiße und giggles, but the main event is pretty much there
  10. Nice to pull everyone together into the same place I suppose, @Woodinblack. @Bassassin should have known you'd have some delectable morsels. That Roadster *swoon* if only it was a bit more battered you might take it out more. Looks splendid.
  11. Struggled to get to grips with this technique when I first became aware of it (Kajagoogoo, Level 42, that kind of era). I suspect because A) I didn't appreciate the music associated with it and B) I liked being told I was good so didn't want to risk revealing I couldn't do something. I therefore simply told people I refused to play slap bass as a matter of principle. I am now trying, in a spirit of learning and humility, to achieve a basic facility in the style. This Hal Leonard book wot I purchased from this parish, is proving useful. Clearly laid out and explained, with ground up exercises in steadily increasing complexity, the book is very much the thing for a total ignoramus such as myself. There is a CD with it but I've not checked that out yet. The best resource I've found to accompany the lessons is the Youtube drum channel LumBeat. There's something about locking in with a real drummer which brings even the most bassic bass lines to life.
  12. You strike a hard bargain, but I concede defeat. The field is yours.
  13. That's the kind of spiel I used to have to dish out to wealthy housewives when I worked for an interior designer. To convince them that their new cushion didn't ruin the ambience of the drawing room. The biggest waste of money and time I've ever been involved with.
  14. This is inspirational! Been wondering how to organise my board, which is chaos right now. Building a frame something like this would hide the cable spaghetti and create subtle user friendly angles. Thank you!
  15. The black guard picks up the black edge of the body surrounding the paisley. It also ties the body to the neck via the black blocks. The effect of black either side alters how the paisley is perceived by strengthening the background. Trust me, taking it off would entirely dilute the effect.
  16. Ah, right that makes sense. I know very little about them, the Electra is my first Sandberg and I only acquired it recently via the BC marketplace.
  17. Slightly confused by the press release quoted above. "with tobacco burst is as a new option beside the already known high gloss finishes black and crème." reads to me as if Tobacco Burst is a new colour. Pretty sure my Electra is tobacco burst and it ain't new!
  18. Congratulations! That's how I like to see a bass packaged. Also don't listen to those squares man - let your string ends hang out.
  19. I do like a happy ending! Lost love, reunited. For what it's worth I think tort / black is a great combination.
