  1. If the bass is in an accident, well that's on me. I can't (for health reasons) drive the distances involved, and this is a fun way to interact with members of the community. Nothing more. Sometimes someone really wants a bass but the seller won't use couriers, or the buyer won't if it's a particularly special or expensive instrument. No one I trust more than a bass player from Basschat to look after a bass. This is a Quixotic, whimsical, enjoyable alternative to playing Russian Rouletter with Hermes.
  2. It may frustrate you Bill, and be a 'dead horse' to you but to those of us who are interested in the subject it is a fascinating topic. The two above yours were illuminating, useful and interesting. If it annoys you so much and no one seems to respond to your input it is a little odd you keep returning to the thread.
  3. Thank you. That explains it perfectly.
  4. I like it a lot. Headstock is more disappointing than than actually horrible. But still enough to ruin the aesthetic.
  5. It's only moved on paper right now! Begins the actual journey on Sunday. The couriers will be updating this thread with their progress.
  6. My favourite flats. The stadium Elites my favourite rounds.
  7. That looks so much better with the lack plate. Sheckshy.
  8. I really wanted one of these a while back, but the project (a post punk 3 piece) never got airborne. My other guitarless band balked at the idea. Shame. Still... The hankering remains.

    NPD - Zoom B3n

The one I didn't get, don't know why. Had the B1on, B3, and MS-60B, but skipped this and went straight to the B1 Four. So I'm keen to hear about it.
  10. Mine did 5 hours plus with quite a few more pedals and charging a phone! But never mind the battery life and the lack of an extension lead and power cable the hours spent trying to find if a power supply is really isolated... its the silence. The pure blissful absence of any extraneous noises. No hums no whistles, no whines. Its bliss.
  11. What you said made perfect sense. I was kinda joking. If this thread now shuffles off quietly having served its purpose then fine. If it runs to 97 pages and goes over stuff already covered elsewhere - so what? That's how the Internet works.
  12. But we all have our favourite experts though. 🤦🏼‍♂️
  13. That certainly was not my intention. In fact I opened by saying I understand why and how they're used I just wanted to know how to choose one if you wanted to buy one. Might start one about whether compressors actually do anything next.
  14. This is fascinating stuff, thank you to everyone who has contributed to the discussion. My knowledge has deepened, however I am a little confused. A strong body of opinion suggests PA cabs/ powered monitors may not be great for bass, while others go out gigging with them quite happily. Or is it those who gig with them only use them for monitoring and not as backline?
  15. I saw one adjustable temp with a temperature lock switch and a sleep function. Both of which seem sensible to me.
  16. Makes perfect sense to me. Only time I've played with no amp (long story short; multi band event, told not to bring one, band before us had supplied bass rig up till that point, but, understandably had never planned to leave it all night) I was mixed into a floor wedge along with much else. It wasn't great but I could make out what I was playing. Difference with your plan is you have control over the level, tone, mix etc. I had 10 seconds with a harried sound guy!
  17. Love the look of these. Any sound clips?
  18. Thanks, I'll have a look at these suggestions and see how the kitty is looking.
  19. So, am I asking the wrong question? Is the FRFR cabs people speak of a whole different thing? I thought they were just powered monitors (but good ones).
  20. This 👆 is Basschattery of the highest order. I heartily commend you for it sir.
