  1. Bass has gone. Thanjs for the offers received, but I missed out. Anyone able to help me with a potential bass relay? Not a hugely expensive prize but the guy selling is not confident in his packing and I'm not confident in Hermes. It's in or near Sheffield, I'm near Bath. Anyone from up that way coming anywhere south? Or travelling via Sheffield en route for anywhere closer where another Basschatter could take over?
  2. Thanks for the book endorsement, wasn't sure if I would like it, I'll get it now. DD seems to me the epitome of how a seemingly simple bass line can make a song.
  3. Yeah they're nice too
  4. I'm becoming a bit of a fan too. Before getting the RM I used an ABM, also have a CTM100. I like the RM. It's not an ABM but it's plenty close enough.
  5. Yes!
  6. Watch the whole show ..
  7. Watching this great footage of Otis Redding, in what looks like a school hall, presumambly ending his set. Obviously I've only got eyes for the diminutive Dylan Thomas lookalike on the bass. I love it when people have a sense of humour on stage, it always makes the gig a happier event. On this you can see him exchange smiles with various members of the band and right at the very end, after someone finally manages to restrain Otis coming back ... again ... who is left shouting 'once more!' as the rest of the band scarper as fast as they can? Always the bass player. Not just the calmest, the most intelligent and musically knowledgeable, the best looking and the coolest, but also the funniest.
  8. It was the picture of my evident joy on unboxing the bass! Let's fan the flames...
  9. I really like this. The reason it would look good at the Tate is its a strong composition.
  10. Mmmm, that looks nice @ead. What do you have in mind? Stew
  11. ... and they're out of stock.
  12. Aargh, I bend, I break.
  13. used my RM500 in rehearsal yesterday and left the eq off. It sounded great. Really good.
  14. 😂 😂 Cat/pigeon scenario?
  15. Jack socket problem sorted. The design doesn't allow a right angled jack to quite go in quite far enough. So the top contact, instead of fitting neatly into the recess at the end of the plug is actually pressing on the end, thus easing it out of the socket. A straight jack = no problem.
  16. I give full and fair notice. Anyone thinking of buying this. You have until next Friday. The 17th. If you don't move on it before then I'm afraid @ash will be receiving a formal offer at the full asking price.
  17. Yep, and everyone in the house knows I've eaten it not long after 😷
  18. Labella Deep Talkin flatwounds, no less. Smooth, responsive, articulate, almost addictive to play. If a teenage boy was given a bass with these on he'd never discover masturbation.
  19. I opened it up before we started rehearsal and squeezed its private parts together hoping that would help, but no. The lead works fine in all my other basses, anyway, not a difficult fix and did not spoil my enjoyment of the bass.
  20. Beautiful bass, collected this week, bought from @Mickeyboro. Hoped I might hate the strings as they're blooming expensive, but I love them. I also love the sound. No eq needed on the amp at it's first outing today. Only fault I can find is the jack socket doesn't hold the plug, keeps on falling out. But the neck, balance and sound are perfect
  21. This is a 'sell everything and buy it' kind of bass.
  22. Well, this just ignited a serious gas leak.
  23. I am selling a PJ squier - beware the neck is a Jazz size. If you like P Bass then these may not be for you. The Vintage basses are good, but I would recommend a Bass Collection P Bass from the Bass Centre.
  24. Stunner. That's an absolute beauty.
  25. Love this
