  1. Sorry folks this is now sold.
  2. No idea! Never as much as held one in my hand. Let's hope it's just lacquer cracking. @Andyjr1515I thought the channel wasn't deep enough in the centre for single action?
  3. Well all this may be academic. As I was putting the bass in its case I felt a sharp edge catch my skin. Turned it over and the neck has started to split. All good narratives need our hero facing certain defeat, but is there a redemptive ending to this story?
  4. I'm staying in the shed. Right, taking volute to mean the bit that starts to curve towards the headstock, I measured as close to the nut as I could where the neck was still straight. It's 13.5mm there but drops to 12.5mm thereafter. Until the 7th fret(ish) where it deepens to 14mm, rising to 15mm as we approach the heel. Oh and its 5mm wide Not quite the perfect angle but you can see within a mm how shallow it is.
  5. *runs out to the shed again*
  6. They come up occasionally. You want to come on over collect the amp? Would save us both postage - your call. I'll pm about the cab.
  7. -If you decide to add another cab I have a Trace 2X10 as well.
  8. Absolute match made in heaven!
  9. Hi SOTW, did this and it actually gets shallower just towards the heel!
  10. Saw this on the Sandberg vid I posted. It was an AHA! moment. That's what I'm after. Anyone think these can be bought? Or did the guy make it himself? I've tried searching but can't find one or haven't found the right search term.
  11. I'm happier scraping a bottom than trying to stuff something in it.
  12. Would they be any good for metal?
  13. @Andyjr1515 It's pretty consistent all the way along but actually becomes shallower as it approaches the heel. Closer to 8.5 and a gnats nadger hair at that end.
  14. Update: I didn't rush removing the thin but tightly packed layer of wood from the rout. I found the best way was to secure the instrument and score repeatedly with a sharp blade then tap gently on my tiniest screwdriver. I know it's sharp; I've pulled it from my bleeding fingers quite often. This did the job in no time at all. Once I cleaned it I used the same handy tool to clear all the adhesive from around the nut at the body end of the neck. Didn't want that sticking and me putting undue strain to lever it out. I then used my tyre removal technique and indeed my tyre removing tools to gently work the rod free mm by mm gently and slowly Et voila! @Andyjr1515 you asked for the depth at the deepest point. It's 1cm give or take half a thou
  15. I faced a stark choice. Getting older and gigging with multiple bands I could not trust my memory to juggle so many sets. First I learned to play from chord charts but I added depping to my list and the number of songs rocketed. So I decided to dedicate the last of my fading brain cells to learning to read. This way if a song appears on a set list and I have it in my archive I can refresh my memory of it quickly. Effectively using transcriptions as an extra long term memory. Oh and it's a joy Really great fun.
  16. Paint the headstock to match the body maybe?
  17. Love the name @TbirdnTalman! Can't help wonder how long some names would be if certain Basschatters were to adopt the same approach. Anyway, colour of pickguard. A simple question, with a simple answer. Tort. Some make the mistake of thinking tortoiseshell is the perfect pickguard because it goes with everything. This is of course quite wrong. It's the perfect pickguard because it improves everything. Happy to help 😊
  18. I'd love a couple of these under my SVT or CTM. Good luck with your sale, sure someone will snap it up.
  19. Not lame, a careful step back from the precipice is a wise move.
