I have this exact colour scheme. It's so easy to play. But the sound from it is huge! Truly insane how good it is for a sub 200 quid guitar. It's the only thing I've found to contend with HB in the value for money stakes.

Kent Armstrong pick ups are very good in my humble opinion.

Just put this lot together into a playlist as I thought it would be useful to run through every now and then. Any wedding/party dep gigs i get will most likely draw heavily from this. By the way, while we're all here, you know when we were analysing why the punter wants his weekly set chosen from a similar setlist regardless of who plays it? It just occured to me. If I go see a band, any band, and they have a couple of massive hits in their repertoire, or a song which has always gone down well with their fans, they likely play it, and usually near or at the end to send everyone home happy. I'd be disappointed if they didn't. Well your average Joe/Jo at a pub on a Friday night or a wedding reception is no different s/he just gets to hear all the favourites regardless of who wrote them, genre or whether they're 'cool'. They get Sweet Child without sitting through two hours of GnR songs they don't recognise, then they get that song off that film they like, then that one evryone knows the words to. Singing along with a bunch of other happy people is a hugely cathartic, enjoyable experience, similarly dancing while you all sing. To do this everyone needs to know the tune. Hardly surprising we end up with a set cherry picked from people's favourites. It's a bag of Revels with the disgusting coconut one taken out. Also look how long a list our little experiment threw up. There's more than one set there, so it's not as if we all play an identical bunch of songs. Interestingly I busked through a playlist on iReal Pro entitled Wedding. Almost immediately I was confronted with songs I'd never heard of and nowhere on our list. I'm going to hazard a guess it's an American list maybe? Which suggests regional and cultural differences. Was actually yesterday. Been chatting about a couple of set up tweaks I need to implement on another thread, but I know some people are interested in taking a look. It's a Revelation, fretless, PJ configuration, with a nice chunky neck. I tried to move it on via a local guy who sells for commission from his shop, but the lockdown intervened. Whatever it was I needed to raise funds for has been long forgotten. I nearly sold it last weekend, but potential buyer had second thoughts. And I'm glad. I never really gave it a good go, but having a fretless in the armoury isn't a bad idea. Also, for what they fetch second hand I would be incredibly hard pushed to buy anything nearly as good. It's a solid, well made instrument with great pick ups and a lovely neck. So for now, I'll keep it..

Facts I should have given but didn't. I retrieved the bass yesterday. It had been locked up in our local second hand shop where I'd hoped to sell it. Today it is noticeably better. I'm assuming a Chang of atmosphere has had some impact. Also the neck does indeed look a little straight. I'll fettle and report.

How many can we discount from the list if all other strings are OK?

...on a fretless? OK stupid title but it kind of sounds like that. Onlyon the G string. The string doesn't sustain and kind of honks. I'm guessing it isn't hitting a fret so other than raising the bridge saddle, what could it be? Nut too low?

Ah, they stayed attached to the head with mine. I'm thinking of selling but I would like to keep the cab. Have enough amps now so might shift the head. Need some rubber feet first.

Ah, I didn't notice. I measured in the middle at the deepest point. The bass is reassembled now.

Here you go 16mm x 100mm x 61.5mm. The picture of the 16mm is weird but I've double checked it. The Fender neck is a tiny weeny bit sloppy in there. Can't be much though because my vintage neck fitted in the Fender slot.

I have one I'm happy to take measurements from for you. However, play it first before you take it apart, there is a strong chance you'll like it as it is. They're really nice instruments. If not and the fit is good I'd be interested in the P neck you take off the Vintage.

Put it this way, I switched to my Squier Standard Precision after a lengthy noodling, and it sounded flubbry and jibbly in comparison. And that's a bass I usually think of as grunchy and whumpy. But the Ibby, in comparison was just solid Grunch and Squobb.
