  1. Hi Gary it's an old Japanese faker (I think) someone once said it looks like a Shaftesbury but either way it is a through neck. Or set neck or some such
  2. I WILL! Your Churchillian rhetoric has inspired me. 👨‍🔧
  3. In brief: Truss rod won't tighten any more can't put washers before the nut as end of rod thread is stripped and washer covers usable thread. It's a fixed neck. Bass only worth a couple of hundred at best. It's all over isn't it?
  4. You are spot on. Three way selector switch on the back, each setting labelled. Bridged minimum 4 ohms 500w use 1 input Stereo 2 X 250w both minimum 4 ohms use 2 inputs Biamped 1 x 250w minimum 4 ohms lower frequencies 1 x 250w minimum 4 ohms higher frequencies. Crossover is internal non adjustable BUT individual output controls (rear panel) allow balancing between the two amps. Yes you could run 2 x 8ohm cabs for each amp. I have used 2 1x15 TE cabs for the bottom and a 2 x10 with horn handling the top. Oh my. I still get chills.
  5. Looks good, and sounds like it sounds good too - what's not to like?
  6. I think that looks fantastic, really really good. Oh and the electrics, pickups bridges strings and tuners on every HB I've ever had have been absolutely fine. I'm not sure how many of the folk who recommend binning them the moment you receive (or build) one have that much experience of Harley Bentons. I changed the pups in one just to see what difference it made. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  7. Love the headstock on, well on the one, the one with the headstock 🤔 In fact all three are works of art.
  8. Ow wow, look at that! Tell us about that neck? Looks amazing
  9. For me yes definitely. I will go back and continue to read through the manual. Its a subject I know nothing about and so it takes a lot of concentration. But that exercise introduced me to some fundamental concepts which is great. The different blocks of controls make a lot more sense now. I find with other complex software (photoshop springs to mind) that following a few tutorials to get you from one place to a specific end product is not only pleasing (because there's an end result) but you are learning a path through the software and picking up bits of knowledge along the way. Say for instance a tutorial to produce an envelope like an auto wah. Another to produce a simple octave up and octave down. Nothing too complex but each time a newb like me creates something and knows how and why he's created it there's a lot of knowledge and understanding or should I say demistifying happens
  10. Hats off to you mate, seriously, I always voted for the NHS and I'll still support you when the present spotlight has moved on.
  11. Yeah over 300 all day long not that far back, but times have changed. Petrol is a pound a litre, not allowed to kiss the neighbour's dog any more. It's a strange old world.
  12. I've just had a good two hours with the manual and the programme. Felt ready to do it, my health hasn't been great and concentration on a new task can be exhausting for me. However, today I was feeling good. I worked carefully and diligently through until I felt I wasn't really absorbing info any more so skipped to the make your first sound. Very exciting. Reset it and did it over several times until the pathways began to open and could see what has happening. Reset again and created a totally different sound. Saved a few efforts and loaded them onto my FI. Very satisfying and I really feel I have got over my 'instruction phobia' and can start to associate some of the controls with what they will do to the sound; rather than just hit something and see what comes out. Colour me excited.
  13. Exactly. Keeps the pennies coming in the set tight and my fingers working. Which means I'm still in business and ready when better paid stuff comes along
  14. Thank you. So I'm on the right track, that's good to know.
  15. SOLD PRICE DROP TO £230 that's over two Trace Elliot watts to the pound. Ever decide to sell something only to get a sick feeling inside when you get to it? Never understand why folk don't just keep the darn thing. Well in my case it's because I spent the money already. So here goes. Trace Elliot AH500X in used, gigged and worn cosmetic condition. But still able to do the job it was made for. Loud fan which has a quiet setting for those worried about such things. White caps missing from Graphic on/off and Mid cut controls, both work fine (see video) Heavy. I will post it but it won't be cheap. Socially distant pick up is available. So what's under the bonnet? Two Trace Elliot 250 watt amps. Doesn't sound much does it? Ever heard a single 250 watt Trace kicking it out? Trust me you won't forget hearing two. You can use both inputs and run them into their own speaker systems. You can use both amps with an internal crossover and send the upper frequency to a small cab and the lower to a big un. This how I use it. Each output is individually adjustable and it is a thing of wonder. Alternatively select mono bridged and put that GP 11 MK5 preamp through them together. 16. It's like looking at a tree that's all roots
  17. Unquestionably the best live video I've ever seen. I adore this band and all the other work the members do. They are not just fabulous musicians but they are funny humble and got to MSG through their own hard work and not the money of a record company. The genius of this is getting a musician to film it. Oh and having him on stage of course! So glad you're enjoying it @Barking Spiders and I'm so sorry for those who don't enjoy it.
  18. Oh mah gad. If I'm excited and it's not even my bass, you must be tap dancing down there
  19. Bugger the logo - how does she sound, how do you find the neck?

Slotted the Ashdown into my main rig in place of the 2x8 and I noticed an immediate difference in quality. That BF 15 always paired nicely with the BF 12 I used to have and it seems equally at home with the Ashdown.
